About San Diego

Blue skies, balmy breezes, and some of the consistently most beautiful weather in the U.S. are hallmarks of the San Diego area. While you could certainly stay in one of its many fine hotels, San Diego area vacation rentals are the perfect way to feel like a native of paradise.

Things to Do

There are a number of things to do in and around San Diego. One of its well-known attractions is The San Diego Zoo, named Best Zoo in the World in a traveler’s choice award. The 100-acre zoo even features a guided bus tour, so you can appreciate the facility without exhausting your family members. Guests also love San Diego’s spectacular shoreline, particularly Coronado and Mission Beaches.
Take some time to explore the sandstone cliffs of Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, and then head over to the southern tip of Point Loma and Cabrillo National Monument where you can catch magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean.

To say “perfect” would not be an understatement. Daytime temps average in the balmy 70s, nearly year round. Warm days melt into cool nights, so pack a light jacket. This area of California serves up a variety of climates and temperatures. The Pacific Ocean keeps San Diego comfortable but as you move inland you’ll find temps change drastically. With mountain and desert areas within less than a day’s drive, pack for a variety of temperatures if you plan to explore.

San Diego offers a number of shopping opportunities from outlets to high-end boutiques. The city’s neighborhood pockets possess distinct personalities and wonderful shopping opportunities in Little Italy, the Gaslamp Quarter, the Seaport Village District, and Old Town. To the north, you’ll find the Village of La Jolla, known for its quaint Gerard Avenue and Prospect Street area.

One of the busiest times in San Diego is the summer, and while there are a host of fun events like the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon, the International Beer Festival, and Comic Con, the lines are long and San Diego area vacation rentals go quick. There are dozens of local farmer’s markets in the area, most of them opening in the mid-late afternoon and going into the night. Nearby La Jolla hosts a Christmas Parade, and in the spring its famous La Jolla Motor Car Classic.

Many visitors are surprised to find Vegas-style gaming 30-45 minutes from downtown San Diego. The 24-hour gaming operations offer slots, table games, and delicious buffets. They are also the place to catch top musical and comic headliners. But glitz and glamor aren’t the only nightlife, some of the best occurs on a cliff over the Pacific Ocean watching the sun melt into the water.

US News & World Report ranks San Diego in many Top Ten lists including: best winter vacation, best family summer vacation, best spring vacations, and best family vacations in the USA. It’s time you experienced what all the fuss is about. Live like a local in a San Diego area vacation rental.
