Although my husband and i had terrible colds we so enjoyed our New Years in Cambria, so did our 2 dogs. When we arrived Karen was right there with the key and a warm welcome. She showed us around the cottage, answered questions and had a map handy in which all the trails were marked. She told us about a new trail we weren't familiar with which we walked twice over the weekend...spectacular views as well as dog friendly (leashes required.) The cottage was full of all the comforts of home. A kitchen that had everything needed to prepare a meal as well as an outdoor grill, plenty of towels, extra blankets, hair dryer, coffee maker, tea kettle, fans, heaters, and many thoughtful touches like the little dishes sitting here and there with treats for humans and the furry members of the family as well, cards and colored pencils for children upstairs, magazines, DVD's and all put together in such a pretty, warm and inviting sort of way. The cottage was immaculate and so nicely decorated. A lot of thought and heart went into preparing this little cottage for guests. The downstairs space had plenty of room for us and our dogs...we didn't even use the upstairs area. The cottage has plenty of places to walk right around the area that has awesome views and isn't far from town or Moonstone Beach, where one can find plenty of places to eat as well as shop. There is a small deck area that is between the cottage and main house where a grill and table and chairs are available. This area is completely fenced and gated so pups can be on their own outdoors...there is even a puppy potty for their use. The cottage has it's own walkway up to the door and felt private. We didn't see Karen again but knew she would be right there if we needed her. We will definitely return to this little cottage again....hopefully without the colds. We rate this 4 thumbs and 4 paws up.

Owner's reply: Very friendly guests, including your adorable canine pals, too! So glad you had a wonderful visit enjoying our home's decor, amenities, deck and surrounding area, and we really appreciate your thoughtful and kind review. Hope to see you all again soon!

“Cottage living at it's best”

This cottage was more like a home. Everything you could ask for and more - from beach towels & beach chairs, to kitchen spices, magazines, DVD's and treats for our dog! It was a very relaxing place to stay.

Owner's reply: A pleasure to have you as guests, including your cute dog, too, and thanks for your nice review!

“Great place!”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2016

Rooms were larger than I expected. Lots of games for children to play. Four possible beds with different firmness, so you are sure to find what you like. Very quiet with lots of fresh air (even when there was a fire farther north in the mountains). Short drive to the beach but it is also walkable. Interesting artistic town at the bottom of the hill. Gym nearby. Route 1 is between house and beach but at night it is very quiet. You can here the ocean, especially when the surf is kicking up. Plenty to do nearby. All around great place!

Owner's reply: Glad to know that you and your family had a great time visiting Cambria and staying at our cottage, and we really appreciate your kind comments, too!

“Quiet and Peaceful”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2016

We have been here twice and enjoy the peacefulness of the cottage. Small kitchen has most items you need for preparing a meal, also a wonderful BBQ outside. Only one bathroom downstairs so if you sleep upstairs you have to come down the stairs at night - also there is a bed downstairs in the living area. We make it work for 4 adults (we are related)! The price is so reasonable, all bedding and towels are supplied, the owners are wonderful and friendly and once you are checked in you won't see them unless you need help with something (not very likely to need help). Town is a walk down the hill, and the ocean is a short distance by car but you can see it from the "cottage". We plan on going again next year!!!

Owner's reply: Thank you Janine, for your kind review and for being great guests~we look forward to seeing you all again soon!!

We enjoyed staying in this lovely cottage with a full kitchen. Walking distance to the village of Cambria and wonderful to watch the sun set over the ocean from the room. Relaxing, quiet, comfortable and the owner is friendly and accommodating.

“Great guest cottage”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2016

Wonderful location in the hills above Cambria's west village overlooking the start of Moonstone Beach Boardwalk. Sunsets were breathtaking. As a 70 yr old senior, I was able to walk everywhere, even back up the hill. The beds were comfy, the kitchenette had everything we needed, even necessities for our dog including a spare leash. Karen has thought of everything to make your stay feel like home. Very quiet location although we could hear the surging waves. Saw deer in the neighboring yard and our Chihuahua enjoyed the flock of wild turkeys who traveled up the road each morning. Hope to go back soon.

Owner's reply: Such nice guests, including your cute dog too! Thanks for your wonderful review and hope to see you again soon :)

“Great cottage”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2015

My boyfriend & I stayed here the week of Labor Day and it was perfect! The cottage is just like the pictures. It was clean and just perfect for the 2 of us. It has a nice roomy bathroom in the main room. The outside deck area is beautiful and there is a nice view of the ocean from the deck and from the living room and upstairs bedroom. The kitchen is great for fixing your own meals & we bbqed on the outside deck! It's very close to the beach and the 2 Villages in Cambria. Not exactly easy to walk to tho! But you can drive there in just minutes. Karen & Earl are great. We never saw Karen again after she let us in. So they don't ever bother you even they are next door if you do need them! We highly recommend staying in this cottage in beautiful Cambria!!! Thanks again Karen & Earl for an awesome week in your cottage!

Owner's reply: Our cottage is just few minutes walk down to the West village section of Cambria. Thank you both for being nice guests, and for your great review~we hope you will make a return visit to our cottage again soon!

“Cambria Family Reunion”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2015

For the past 10 years we have stayed in various Cambria hotels during August to join with other family members for annual reunions. By far, this cottage was hands down the most accommodating, friendly, functional, scenic place to date. The owners are incredibly generous in supporting any needs we had and very respectful of our privacy - we felt like neighbors and friends.

Owner's reply: It is very rewarding to have fantastic, friendly guests who appreciate our cottage~it makes running our little mom-and-pop business a real pleasure!! Thanks for your great review and come back and visit anytime :o)
