COLD POOL: The pool was FREEZING. Based on a previous review that stated the pool was too cold to use, we asked the managers about it before arrival. They stated that if we kept the cover on the pool, the solar heater would heat it within two days. We kept the solar cover/ heater on for 9 days - without using it - with no effect whatsoever. It was freezing and even the pool cleaners who paid a house visit acknowledged that it would not heat up. Ad for the house states: "THE POOL AREA OFFERS A HEAT-UP POOL AND SUN CHAIRS." Clearly, not. EMPTY BBQ TANK: After purchasing grilling steaks, when we went to turn on the bbq the the gas tank was empty. We called the managers who said that we should use the other tank at the house, but there was not another one - we searched inside and out. On the phone call, Michael & Sandra refused to bring another tank to the house, or even split the cost of a tank with us. They ignored the first email, but after the second one, replied "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GAS TANK!" This is contrary to their misleading advertising: "GAS GRILL.... AWAIT(S) YOU ON THE LANAI!" Written house rules state that if we empty the tank, we are required to take the tank out and refill it ourselves. If it is left empty, we are charged $40 to refill. The cost to fill the tank is at minimum $30-40.00. There is no way that 2 people would have used even 1/4 of a tank that size. Had we filled it, it would have been for others to use at our expense. We stayed for 2 weeks in a summer vacation home with no bbq. Based on their advertising, we felt this to be unfair & dishonest of property managers Michael & Sandra, since they knew about it. NO HOUSE SUPPLIES: While we accepted Managers' rules about it being a 'vacation' house - we were required to provide our own toilet paper/paper towels/soap/laundry soap/dryer sheets, etc - although it is not a huge problem, it would have been helpful to know these details before we arrived, not afterwards. OVERALL, DISAPPOINTING. The pool received only HALF SUN at the hottest part of each day. Solar heater was useless. We rented the house based on the pool and bbq area, but were able to use neither the pool nor the bbq! The Managers of the property were unclear regarding pertinent details that would have prevented us from renting the property. There is false representation on this house. With no prior property rental experience, we simply had to rely on the property managers. Michael & Sandra Detke ARE DISHONE

Pool is Cold - No Blanket to Cover Up

March 21, 2011

We spent January at Villa Tropicana and loved it. But to say the pool is solar heated is a REALLY not correct. The water was COLD all the time, could never get into the water. We would loved to have come back to Villa Tropicana but the pool spoiled it.

Owner's reply:

Now we have a pool cover on a reel system!
The water don't loose so much temperature during the night and stays warmer.
Hopefully we never get a freezing and cold winter like this again!
