Description of the Cape May vacation home rental
Our tenants love the location of this house at 715 Columbia Ave. Relax on the big wrap around porch with a refreshing sea breeze; rock your cares away in one of 20+ rockers and watch the moonlit sky; play games in the big living room or huge dining room on a rainy day; stretch out in one of the 3 restful suites with space and privacy. You can see the beach promenade 2 blk stroll straight ahead. Wide tree lined street, unobstructed views of the ocean from the second floor (it is still 2 blocks away), walk to resturants, shops and attractions 1-2 blocks. We are also a favorite of the horse/buggy tours. Be prepared to be entertained on the porch! Many of our tenants walk by and say 'we could have stayed there!.' Now they are repeat tenants. Unique property. This is your chance to rent a colorful historic victorian at the shore. This house is a rare offering with beautiful furnishings, 7-8 brs and 5.5 baths (yes 5.5 baths!). It was an upscale B&B and it became a rental 10 years ago. Just compled a kitchen overhall in 2015. We are currently renovating the porch and other updates too. Just completed a bath renovation in the first floor bathroom. We now have a 4' big stall shower. If you have a larger family, you can rent the main house and 4 cottages for a total of 11 bedrooms and 9.5 baths. A typical stay in the summer months is a week. For familys up to 14-16, the main house can be rented. As your group grows you can one or more cottages. We rent to families as few as 2 and as large as 32 (total of 11-12 bedrooms and 9.5 baths). Final prices are determined by the number in your family. Prices quoted here are for main house. We also rent at a discount off season, so spend your holidays and weekend with us.

The common rooms and many of the bedrooms are quite large - the dining room sits at least 18! Since the living and dining rooms can open to each other and they have 12' ceilings the space is expansive (but with a home-like comfort). 3 of the 7 bedrooms are large suites are at least 23' and have sitting areas with tv. For its age, the house has good sized bedrooms, no tiny bunk rooms here. There is more than 1 photo of some rooms so you e can see more of the space.

The location is wonderful. If you sit on one of the many porch rockers and look down the street you can see the beach front promenade. We are also in the center of the hsitoric district and walking distance to shops, resturants, activities, movies (and of course the beach), and all of Cape May's history and charm. We are a favorite of the house tours, so you will see plenty of horse drawn carriages. We are a 2 block walk from just about everything.

The house is 130 years old but has undergone a major renovation in the last three years, so there is 4 zone central air conditioning, gas fireplaces, plenty of hot water and gleaming spaces. We continue to renovate and upgrade in the off season to assure the comfort of our tenants.

There is so much to do here in Cape May that you may wish to extend your stay on your second visit. Feel free to call us for more information. We hope you will choose to share this grand old house with us and make it your yearly get away. One customer recently married here stated 'Our wedding weekend was absolutely perfect. We felt like we were home away from home.'

The house is also available for weddings, family reunions, holidays, receptions, conferences and more. With additional cottages and suites we can accommodate up to 32 people. The cottage and suites (all with kitchens, private amenities and entrances) are available to be rented separately).

A perfect vacation at the shore

July 28, 2016

We had a reunion with family members coming from France, Fiji, Virginia, Texas, New York, California and Ohio. Everyone loved the wrap around porch, huge dining room and family room. There were 15 of us and we never felt crowded and the sleeping accommodations were just about ideal. It is an easy walk to the beach, which was lovely, and we loved having the "beach box" to leave chairs and toys. We just grabbed our towels and sunscreen and headed to the shore. We also loved the walkability. The only time we used our cars was to drive to the lighthouse and sunset beach for a glorious sunset. The Ashley Rose house was welcoming and so comfortable.

The Ashley Rose- Memories to Last a Lifetime

May 22, 2016

My family and I recently escaped to Cape May for a long weekend. This was our first stay at the Ashley Rose. We have been visiting Cape May for many years, having stayed at a multitude of hotels and B&Bs. I found the Ashley Rose during an Internet review of Cape May vacation rentals, and fell in love with the pictures of the beautiful Victorian home. I emailed the owner Sally and received a rapid and thorough response to all of my questions. I was so impressed that I decided to book immediately. Over the next few weeks I frequently emailed Sally with questions, and she answered each time within a few hours and always in a cheerful and helpful manner. When we arrived at the house my twin 10 year old daughters ran directly to the third floor to claim their bedrooms while the rest of us took a tour of the home. It is the perfect combination of Victorian era charm and modern convenience. Just wandering through the home instills a feeling that "takes you back in time", while its many modern updates make the stay very comfortable. Anything and everything we needed was right there on site. We had a few questions during our stay and Sally actually came directly to the home to assist us. We also had a member of our family with physical limitations, and she was able to stay in the gorgeous and spacious first floor suite without difficulty. The furnishings are beautiful and the rooms are extremely large and offer every convenience from televisions to wireless internet access to temperature control. The dining room and sitting area can accommodate large groups very easily. The wrap around veranda is the perfect spot to sit and sip tea while watching the horse drawn carriages pass by. The home is a few block walk to both the beach and the mall, making the location perfect. We had only four days to spend at the Ashley Rose and were very upset to leave. My daughters absolutely loved the home and its many charms, and begged me to bring them back ASAP! My family and I plan to return as often as we can, and hope to make the Ashley Rose our Cape May home away from home! Many thanks to Sally for her kindness and attentiveness, and for sharing her beautiful home with us. See you again soon Ashley Rose!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: We are one of hte premier houses in all of Cape May. Our location, artecture and attention to detail make us a must see (and experience).?
A: We sit at a peaceful and open intersection so there is room to feel at home. The house has spacious and bright rooms. Some of the ceilings are as high as 11" with medalions and plaster mouldings. This adds to the Victorian experience.
Q: The beach, shopping, dining and much more?
A: Just a short walk to the beach has you enjoying the warm sun and salty water. Stop for an ice cream cone on the way home and enjoy the cool creamy texture. If you have energy, play some mini golf too.
