Description of the Cape San Blas vacation townhouse rental
Affordable luxury and comfort are yours at Dolphins Dance! Just search for Dolphins Dance on the Internet to see my site with lots of great pictures!

Free high speed wireless Internet!

Dolphins Dance townhouse is located in the gated Barrier Dunes complex which is on the beach on Cape San Blas and very close to the St. Joe's Peninsula state park entrance. The townhouse has a gulf view and is only 1 minute from the beach and equally close to both outdoor pools, the tennis courts and the playground. The pool near the tennis courts is now heated! It is one of the most private townhouses in the complex, being right on a small lake which has fish, turtles and other wildlife. From the two back decks, one of which is covered, you view the lake and from the front balcony you see the ocean. Our home is very well appointed and equipped and it was built in 2001. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, plates, glasses, pots and pans. There are three TV's, one in the living room and one in each bedroom. The living room TV has a new 42 inch flat screen and also has a VCR and DVD player and the master bedroom has a VHS player with the second bedroom having a DVD player. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans and en suite full bathrooms. The living room entertainment unit has a CD player and there is a selection of CD's, DVD and VHS movies, books and children's games. There are three decks in the unit, two very private ones facing the lake and a smaller front balcony off the upstairs master bedroom. The unit comes equipped with beach chairs and toys. The unit also has room to park three cars or a two cars and a boat. The living room is super comfortable with a lovely chaise lounge and matching sofa. The dining room has a large dining room table which seats six. There is also a breakfast bar with stools. The living room also has a ceiling fan, as does the covered back deck just off the living room. There is also a gas Bar-B-Q overlooking the lake. Beach chairs, and toys are of course provided and there are two adult bicycles. I really can't think of anything you will be missing by staying at Dolphins Dance!
Area Information
Cape San Blas in Florida's Panhandle is an uncrowded, pristine white sand beach stretching for miles. This beach has been rated number 1 in the country by Dr. Stephen Leatherman in 2002 and the most popular beach for dogs in 2006! Between the Cape and the mainland is a beautiful bay with excellent fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby are two interesting towns, Port St. Joe and Apalachicola with great dining and shopping possibilities. The St. Joseph Peninsula State Park right next door offers many opportunities to hike, bicycle, nature and bird watch, walk the beach, swim, and picnic. The area is largely unspoiled but accessible. Nearby you will find scuba diving, canoe and kayak rentals, deep sea fishing, whale watching, golfing and other fun things to do. The state park also has a boat launch - very close to Dolphins Dance.

This area is referred to as Florida's Forgotten Coast, but once you stay here, you will never forget it. Stay at Dolphins Dance for the vacation of a lifetime!

Other Vacation Rental Amenities
There are two pools on site. One of the pools is located directly on the beach and it has a lovely deck with loungers, chairs and tables and a superb view of the gulf. This is where many people hang out to watch the sunset and chat with other guests. There is also a gazebo a few steps away - great for ocean side picnics. The other pool is heated and it is located right beside the lighted tennis courts. The community is gated for security, and the unit has parking for up to 3 cars or a car and a boat. You can enjoy horseback riding on the beach - the horses are brought to Salinas Park on the Cape. Visit Port St. Joe for golf, sailing, boating, boat cruises, sport fishing, canoing kayaking. Or you might want to enjoy a relaxing massage right in the townhouse after your busy day! The towns of Apalachicola and Port St. Joe are charming and have many local (not chain) restaurants that specialize in fresh seafood. Shopping is fun too with many local antique shops. I have stocked Dolphins dance with lots of restaurant menus and brochures on things to see and do in the area. There isn't much traffic around the area, so you'll find exploring enjoyable and hassle free.

My family enjoyed the whole week we were there. The condo was clean and very well equipped. It was amazing to get up in the morning and watch the sunrise from our deck and then the sunset right there only a few steps away onthe beach. Would love to return again and stay in this same condo.

Dolphin Dance

May 14, 2015

The condominium was neat and clean and had everything you would need. All you have to bring is food and what you want to drink. We didn't do much cooking because we were on vacation, but the equipment was there if you wanted to use it. The beach was a short easy walk, about two minutes by way of pavement and boardwalk. The beach was great and the water was beautiful with just a light surf and small waves rolling in. Our two dogs enjoyed the beach as much as we did. No worries about dog waste on the beach because there were pick up bags and receptacles at the end of the boardwalk. We drove into Port Saint Joe one day and ate fried oysters and fried shrimp. We also bought some oysters to take home to make oyster stew. It would be a crime to be in the Apalachicola area and not eat some of the justly famous Apalachicola oysters. We didn't get to meet the owner's as they were out of state. We corresponded with them by e-mail. They were very nice and wanted to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They had previously e-mailed us directions, gate codes and everything we needed to know to drive right to the front door. We had a wonderful week and look forward to returning when possible.

Dolphins Dance: Excellent Cape San Blas condo

April 12, 2015

My husband and I rented Dolphins Dance in April 2015 for our spring break getaway. It was a wonderful experience. The condo was very clean and comfortable and was stocked with all the basics we needed. Our 2 dogs were welcome and enjoyed their daily walks to the beach. The beach was a short walk away, with beach items provided. We enjoyed fishing from the beach, gathering seashells, and talking with other beach-goers. We found everyone at Barrier Dunes to be very friendly. Our stay at Dolphins Dance was exceptional and we would highly recommend this condo for your next vacation. The rental process was seamless and Cathy and Tom went out of their way to ensure that our stay was the best.

Super vacation

August 22, 2014

We had been to Cape San Blas once before, over 20 years ago, and were excited about bringing our whole family for a week. We weren't sure about a condo (as opposed to renting a house) but Dolphins Dance turned out to be an excellent choice. Cathy and Tom obviously have great pride of ownership and the condo was clean, well maintained and equipped, and convenient. The Barrier Dunes complex was also very well managed and clean, and we enjoyed the two pools when we wanted to get a break from the ocean. The weather in August was fantastic and we enjoyed exploring the Bay and just relaxing on the relatively quiet and beautiful white sand beach. All in all, a great family vacation and nice change from the more built up and commercial parts of Florida further south.

Dolphin's Dance is a Dream

April 2, 2014

We loved our week at Dolphins Dance. Cathy is an extremely gracious hostess. She has everything in her home for a basic start up for you to use. She even has beach accessories and bikes for the neighborhood. The home is very comfortably and stylishly appointed and feels like home. And speaking of the neighborhood... It is a very quiet , safe, family oriented and pet friendly neighborhood with its own practically private and pet friendly beach. The beaches are pristine and shell filled. We saw dolphins every day and it is next to a state park. It's a perfect secluded getaway vacation. We came just 6 weeks after my Mom died and it was perfect for relieving stress. I highly recommended staying in Dolphins Dance. I hope to go back multiple times. I could not have asked for any more friendly and accommodating leasers than Tom and Cathy!!! Just do it!! :) Jennifer

From Jenni and Andy, September

My family and I stayed at Dolphins Dance in September and had a wonderful time! The townhouse was very clean and cozy, and pet and family oriented. Dolphins Dance had an outside shower which was very convenient. The townhouse was right on the lake and only a few minutes' walk from the beach and pool.

The Barrier Dunes complex was right on the Gulf of Mexico and was quiet, clean and safe. We enjoyed seeing the dogs and families playing on the beach. The pool and grounds were very nice and the pet stations were a nice touch.

We were able to launch our boat at the St. Joseph's National Park, which was less than a mile away from the townhouse. We also explored St. Vincent island by boat, and ate a wonderful dinner at the Marina in Port St. Joe. The entire area is teeming with wildlife and is a must see.
With a boat launch nearby it is easy to enjoy the gulf offshore of Cape San Blas, Florida

We look forward to visiting Cape San Blas and staying at Dolphins Dance again soon.

Thank you, Tom and Cathy for making our stay so enjoyable!

From Saul and Betsy, July

Dear Cathy

Please forgive my taking so long to get in touch--so much to catch up on after a vacation! We had the most wonderful time at dolphins dance!!!! It was even nicer than we expected. We especially enjoyed moving from space to space in the house and on the different balconies depending on whether we were star-gazing, birdwatching, sunset over the gulf watching, etc. We even enjoyed sitting on the wonderful covered lakeside porch watching kids learn to fish! It was the most serene vacation I think I've ever had. Everything in the condo was there to make us comfortable and relaxed--the kitchen had everything we needed and the sofa and chaise in the living room were soooo comfortable to lounge on.

We really appreciated the privacy of the unit too.

The beach is the most beautiful and deserted beach I've seen in the U.S.

People were so friendly to our dogs! The dog stations around the property made it easy for all the dog lovers to clean up after their pets--making the whole environment of the development much friendlier for walkers.

We loved it so much! We'd really like to come back and stay at your place again--as soon as possible.

By the way, we did see a dolphin!

Thanks so much for your hospitality.

Betsy & Saul

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do people go to Cape San Blas?
A: People go to Cape San Blas for the beach! It is the most amazing, wide, fine white sand, pristine beach. It is also pet friendly and dogs can be on the beach with no time restrictions. The water close to shore is also quite shallow and so small children and even small dogs can enjoy the surf as well as the sand. The beach is west facing which is unusual for beaches in the area and so the sunsets are to die for!
Q: What is the area like?
A: Cape San Blas is a 15 mile long cape which is almost completely residential with no high rises. Many people spend most of their time on the beach. There are two charming small towns nearby. Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. Both have many local restaurants and shops and plenty of opportunities for activities such as deep sea fishing expeditions and other ocean based activities. The last half of the cape is state park and the park has trails which are beautiful and dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the beach in the state park, but that only leave about eight miles of beach for people to explore with their canine companions. The back bay is the area between the cape and the mainland. It is a wonderful place to explore if you like nature. It is very different from the gulf side. In the back bay you can canoe or kayak and see lots of wildlife and this is a great area to bird watch. It is a great place to scallop as well. There are many beautiful natural areas to explore surrounding Cape San Blas. If you crave a city, Panama City Beach is only about an hour away.
Q: Why choose Dolphins Dance?
A: Dolphins Dance is located in a small community of townhouses and Dolphins Dance has an excellent location in the complex. There is no highway nearby. There are two pools, including a gorgeous gulf front pool. There are tennis courts and a children's playground. Dolphins Dance is an end unit located quite close to the beach. It is directly lake front and the two back decks overlook the lake and are totally private and get glorious morning sunshine. I have been welcoming guests to Dolphins Dance since 2007 and I have very high cleanliness and maintenance standards and I take personal care of my guests. As a result I have many people who keep coming back year after year and who recommend Dolphins Dance to their friends.
