Description from owner

Everyone calls this "The Best Spot in Carlsbad!" . . . would you like to know WHY???

#1. We have beautiful views of the ocean, inside the house and out!

#2. We are just a short walk to the beach. A scenic trail to the beach starts just a few steps from the house.

#3. We are in a safe location, a quiet residential neighborhood with little traffic.

#4. We have a beautifully landscaped grassy yard looking out to the ocean. Enjoy the ocean while dining on the patio, sunbathing in the yard, or sitting around the fire pit with a beverage at sunset.

#5. We are pet friendly.

#6. We are NOT on a noisy street with lots of traffic, or next to a bar, a restaurant, or apartments with loud parties at night.

#7. We are close to everything! 10 minutes to Legoland; 30 minutes to Seaward; 35 minutes to San Diego Zoo; 45 minute to Wild Animal Park; 1:15 hour to Disneyland;

Your home-away-from home at the beach is fully equipped, and features lovely views of the ocean, with plenty of outdoor space for the children to play and the adults to relax. You will enjoy wonderfully comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of off-street parking, wireless broadband, private laundry facilities, a grassy yard with patio furnished for outdoor dining and lounging, a propane grill, a fire-ring with granite surround for enjoying an evening beverage, and an outdoor shower with hot water for your pleasure upon returning from the beach. Beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, boogey boards, beach toys and coolers are provided, along with all your linens and basic kitchen supplies.

And it's sparkling clean!

At the beach you will find lifeguards, restrooms and showers. There are designated areas for surfing and swimming.

Pelicans, egrets, seagulls, and great blue herons will point the way as you follow the short and easy scenic trail from the property to the beach (about a block-and-a-half).

In the evening, enjoy the view of the magnificent sunset over the Pacific and the graceful flight of many sea birds, while you cook dinner on the grill. If you've brought children, there's plenty of room for them to play, and you can relax knowing they are safe in the yard.

Stroll, bike, or rollerblade a few blocks up the coast to the "village" for lunch. Explore the small shops, boutiques, antique stores and cafes. There are many excellent restaurants, and If you in the mood for romantic evening out, one of Carlsbad's best ocean view restaurants is just three blocks from your home.

Carlsbad Premium Outlets mall - a five minute drive away - is a shopper's paradise. But remember to save some energy for tomorrow . . .

Will it be surf lessons, sunbathing, or golf, the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Legoland, Old Town, Balboa Park, jet skiing, deep sea fishing, The Lagoon Discovery Center, Disneyland, or . . . Just RELAXING at the BEST SPOT IN CARLSBAD!

“Stayed 5 Wonderful Weeks”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2016

My husband, 2 miniature schnauzers, and I stayed at this lovely beach cottage, September 10-October 15, 2016. Our stay was as close to perfect as imaginable. We experienced a lot of joy, peace, and quiet. You can take a 7-minute walk to the beach every day if you like, passing alongside the Carlsbad Lagoon, crossing Carlsbad Avenue, and then arriving at the beach. A long sidewalk parallels the beach. While the beach itself does not allow dogs, the expansive sidewalk overlooking the beach is dog friendly and clean. The 4 of us took long walks every day and chatted with people from around the world. It was the highlight. You can walk to Vigilucci's Steak and Seafood overlooking the ocean. We did this once a week, sitting on the patio with our 2 dogs. The house itself is very clean, cozy, and welcoming. The lovely wood paneling and wood flooring lend a "cheery cabin" feeling. There are lots of windows, but you'll want to sit outside at the picnic table or on the chaise lounge chairs, especially to watch the spectacular sunsets. I was delighted to find high quality beach chairs in the garage, because our beach chairs wouldn't fit in our car. They had the same high-end brand chairs that we had at home. We rent a house every year and this was, by far, the best maintained and best stocked house ever. You name the kitchen utensil; it was there when I needed it. We had the housekeeper come in twice during our 5-week stay, and she did a very good job at a reasonable rate. Any question we had of the property manager was answered immediately and kindly. The bed was very comfortable and linens including beach towels were spotless. Even though it is an older house, all is lovingly maintained which I can't stress enough. I will mention that the 2nd bedroom only has drapes instead of walls, so there is good visual privacy but no audio privacy for whoever stays in the 2nd bedroom -- Not a problem if your children are sleeping in there, or if another couple is willing to forgo privacy (meaning you can hear everything) to make the budget work. I had wanted to use the 2nd bedroom as my office for my Skype conferences but it was okay using the master bedroom instead. The wifi worked well. The 2 things the house doesn't have is air conditioning and a garbage disposal. Scrape your plates into the waste bin, not the sink. Be strategic about the timing of closing the blinds and using fans. Beach homes in SoCal don't have A/C. Best location in Carlsb

“We will stay here every time we are in Carlsbad!”

With 3 kids in tow, we wanted a clean, quiet, safe, close to the beach, indoor and outdoor vacation house. We stayed in house # 2 and it was more than perfect! Kid friendly, fenced in yard for the kids to play ball and run around, eating meals on the patio with our ocean view, 5 min walks to the beach along a serene path, quick drive to great grocery store as well! Barbara is a wonderful host, outfitting the kitchen with more than we needed; and giving us use of beach equipment was a plus! Could not have asked for anything more and we cannot wait until our next return! We will always stay here when we return to Carlsbad. Truly IS The Best SPOT.

Owner's reply: Thank you for loving the Best Spot in Carlsbad like we do! You were great guests, and we welcome you back any time.

“Great location!”

We recently vacationed in carlesbad with our kids and dog! This house was a perfect location! A short walk to the beach was so refreshing! Because the home was packed with beach gear we didn't have to bring a thing from home. The neighborhood was really quiet . We really appreciated that! Very family friendly. The fenced in yard was perfect for our small dog to run around. We enjoyed the beach as well. Very clean! The kids boogy boarded for hours! Great stay!! Hope to come back again!!

Owner's reply: Thanks for being 5 star guests! We always love to share our home with great guests like you.

“Summer Staycation!”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2014

The moment we walked into the "Best Spot in Carlsbad" we knew we would be coming back to the little beach house by the lagoon next summer. It was a wonderful little place equipped with everything you need. Boogie boards, beach chairs, and coolers to take for a day at the beach. At night we sat by the fire-pit and roasted marshmellows to make yummy smores. The best part was the ocean view and cool breezes. Our family sat outside for lunch and dinner at the table outside admiring the great views. The kitchen was well stocked with pans, dishes, utensils and such. The beds were comfy and we felt right at home. After a long day at the beach it was great to take a shower outside to wash off all the sand (great amenity!!). Our dogs enjoyed the yard and the walks at the lagoon right across the street. After a day of fun, there were board games to play such as LIFE and MONOPOLY! Great family fun!!!! We would definitely stay here again.

“Best place to stay in Carlsbad!”

Definitely an oasis at the beach! We just rented both homes for a college graduation and family get together and had a wonderful time. These homes were spotless and outfitted with absolutely everything anyone would need for a relaxing vacation. The views were spectacular- the fire pits a bonus at night - We have stayed at many properties and this one received an A+ rating from all of us. There are so few homes left on the California coast that can help recreate the simple beach days of the past..would definitely stay here again..
