Castara Cottage

Area Information
The cottage is surrounded by a lush vegetation. Tamarind and Cinnamon have external decked areas, and there is a barbecue which is accessible to all guests.

The cottage is a short walk away from two beautiful beaches - Castara Bay is a gently curving horse-shaped strech of golden sand, which gently slopes into the sea. Several fishing bots are usually moored in the bay, and fishermen can be seen setting out, or returning from a day's fishing, or casting their seine fishing nets in the bay.
Hevenly Bay is smaller, and also offers very safe swimming and snorkeling - there is also a reef about 100 yards away from thye shore.

How to get there
Crown Point, the only airport on the island, is 14 miles and about a 40 minute drive away. There is a regular bus service to and from Scarborough, but car hire is recommended for ease of travel and sightseeing to all parts of the island.
Car hire is ideal, but not absolutely necessary as there is a good bus service which serves most parts of the island.

Castara is one of a string of villages along the Northern main Road. Other nearby villages are Bloody Bay, Lans Fourmi, Parlatuvier and Englishman's Bay a spectacularly beautiful bay.
Tobago is only 26 miles long in total, so nowhere is to far to visit.

There is a post office in the village and a number of shops selling groceries and other every -day items. The larger supermarkets in Scarborough, and 'Penny Savers' in Buccoo are good for larger shopping needs. Most places in Castara only serve local food. As menus are rarely displayed, you will need to ask what food is being served, how it has been cooked and the price. Most meals cost about $50 TT for a main course. 'Under D'Almond Tree' is a popular local restaurant owned by Vera where you can take your own alcoholic drinks. For fast food or international food head towards Pigeon Point, Store Bay or Buccoo. Banks can be found in Scarborough and Pidgeon Point. There is a bar and restaurant on both Big and Heavenly Bays.
