“Ahhh! I'm home!!”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2019

This was our third year here. We were excited to be back and so were our cat and dog! Tip, our dog, loves the shady screened porch and Sammy is happy to hang out in the air conditioning inside! Only 3 blocks from the beach and boardwalk, it was perfect and such an easy walk. Close enough, yet still in a quiet residential neighborhood. After 3 years, Diane and Bobby, the owners, are like extended family and we were excited to see them again. All the basics are provided, which is great. We brought covers for the couches and bed (for our pets) and throw rugs for the floors, as they are a beautiful hardwood, and we didn't want toenails making scratches. (All things we do at our own home.) We were close to Wilmington and the USS battleship North Carolina, a ferry ride away from a delightful day at Southport, close to Fort Fisher for their dog beach and the aquarium. Lots of good places to eat, do wine or beer tasting, and, of course, enjoy the ocean! What's not to love? Our week came to an end way too quickly, but we'll be back next year! Thank you, Diane and Bobby!

Owner's reply: Linda and Jerry, It is people like you that make this business so rewarding. It is important to us that everybody have a quiet, clean and relaxing place to come home to after a long day at the beach. You are the reason we keep on going and trying to improve year after year. Thank you for every delight you bring! Sammy and Tip too!

“Exactly what we were looking for!”

This cute beach cottage was exactly what we (my husband, myself and our 2 dogs) were looking for! It was so clean, and a great size for us. The yard area and deck/porch was also a wonderful addition. Within easy walking distance to the beach and many shops/restaurants. Even with a lot of rain during our stay, we had a lovely time! Thank you!!

Lovely location, 5-10 minute walk from the beach, even less to get to a fresh seafood market, coffee shop, or coastal shops. Owner is very accessible and attentive but not invasive. House is clean, fun, and relaxing. We would love to stay again.

“Great long weekend”

We stayed here with our 7 yr old daughter. We also brought our labrador retriever since she is part of the family. Super clean and comfy place to stay. We had everything we needed for a 3 night stay. Diane and her hubby are great people and very helpful. We walked to the amusement area every night and also grabbed a bite to eat at some of the dining places as well. We used the Fort Fisher 4wd beach which was the nicest NC beach we have been on. We have been to numerous NC beaches over the last 20 years since we are natives.

What a lovely place to stay. I have stayed at two places owned by the Fergusons and both are just fantastic. Very comfortable and private. More like home away from home unlike a hotel. Like that you can have your pet also without heavy charges. I will not stay anywhere else except one of the properties owned by the Fergusons.

Owner's reply: Thank you Cathy, we look forward to having you back again! Diane

“Clean & private”

This is the second year we stayed at the Beach Cottage and we enjoyed our stay. Diane and Bobby are awesome and always make sure our stay is excellent. We have been guests of Diane and Bobby for the past four years.

Owner's reply: You are awesome guests - Thank you for taking such good care of the Cottage. Hopefully see you next year ;-)

and we couldn't be happier. Diane and Bobby are the best. We love the "cottage". It is always clean and comfortable. It has great cable and internet so we were able to catch up on some of our shows that we enjoy watching. It is such a relaxing location. Our dogs were very happy too since Diane bought them a present. It is our intention to continue to make this a yearly trip.

Owner's reply: Thanks again you two. It is always a pleasure to host you and the kids.

“We miss it already!!”

We stayed here last week with our 2 dogs - an old beagle and a young springer spaniel/english setter mix. We were looking for something low-key since it was our first trip with our dogs. This fit the bill perfectly! We were only 3-4 blocks from the beach, with lots of eateries/shops within 3-4 blocks walking distance. We walked the dogs all over the neighborhood and we had a nice back yard as well. Ft. Fisher park and dog beach were only 5 miles away and the dogs also enjoyed walking there a couple of times. We felt like locals by the end of our stay, having gotten to know our way around pretty well. Diane and Bobby, the owners, were great! Diane answered a lot of my questions by phone or email prior to our trip and offered suggestions of things to do and places to eat. When she checked us in, she gave us lots of tips and had several brochures there for eateries, shops and things to do. We saw Bobby a couple of times when he was doing some work on the properties and really enjoyed talking with him. We felt like we had made some new friends with Diane and Bobby. The cottage was so cute and perfect for us and Tip and Daisy. A deck, screened-in porch (Tip loved that!), living/dining room, galley kitchen, bedroom with a wonderfully comfortable high bed, big bathroom and a washer/dryer combo gave us everything we needed. It was so nice to be able to do laundry before we came home. Linens and towels were provided, so we didn't even have to bring them with us. Lots of things were provided in the kitchen, which again was really nice. Wifi signal was great, as was the air conditioning and TV. Carolina Beach and the Beach Cottage was a little slice of heaven...so convenient to everything and a feeling of being "home". Oh yes, for you dog and cat lovers, we have our new friends at the Pleasure Island Animal Hospital in Carolina Beach, too. They took excellent care of our Daisy Beagle after she got sick the first night there from something she got into at a rest stop on the way down. So, convenience in eateries, shopping, grocery store, veterinarian, a wonderful cottage, and new friends Diane and Bobby all add up to a 10+ for our trip! We will be back... think we have found our new "home away from home"!! Thanks so much for everything, Diane and Bobby!!

Owner's reply: Thank you Linda! Its meeting people like you and your husband that makes this business ideal. We look forward to seeing you again! Diane

“WONDERFUL place to stay! Will return.”

We are considering moving to Wilmington from Ohio and decided to give the Cottages a try while we explored the area....Mostly because they are pet friendly and we have little Yorkies. We were amazed at how NICE 2 of the cottages we stayed in were! We started out in Cottage # 3 and absolutely loved it! We wanted to stay a couple more days, but that one was booked, so our fantastic landlord, Diane, let us stay in cottage #1 for those last 2 days! We HONESTLY don't know which one we will choose when we come back because we LOVED them both !! ( we were able to take a peek at cottage # 2 as it was being readied for the next guests- and it was extremely nice too.). Folks, Diane and her husband really CARE about their properties, and it shows! You will love it if you give it a try! WE ARE SOLD and WILL BE BACK. Thank you Diane for making our stay memorable! This charming cottage was perfect for me and my husband and 10lb Morkie! We walked almost everywhere-meals-beach-entertainment. The cottage is nicely decorated and clean. Diane was very accommodating if we needed something, and we met Bobby working on the property. Very nice people with a genuine care and concern for those who stay in one of their properties. I particularly liked that the cottage has a washer and dryer. Left with clean clothes instead of having to do it all when we got home! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely seek out this cottage or any of Diane's properties for any future visits to Carolina Beach!
