There's plenty to do with boat rentals and charters, nearby golf, concerts and the annual Festival of Lights with fireworks, a parade, flotilla and home tours. Starting in 2010 there is a weekly farmers/artist market on Saturday's at the lake. There are plenty of unique shops to keep a dedicated shopper smiling. Restaurants range from pizza to oysters and burgers to the freshest seafood offered in a casual dining atmosphere.

About the owner
About:My wife and I love the beach and love our house in Carolina Beach. We are travel agents and avid travelors and have decorated Hula Hut to match our tropical taste. Unfortunately for us but fortunately for you we don't get to use our house as often as we would like so have been renting it to the public...

We had a small problem checking into the rental when we got there. First we were sent to the wrong office, then our keys weren't in the lockbox when we got to the correct office. But I'm mentioning this in the review only to say that the booking company's customer service was EXCELLENT. I called and notified them of the mixup and they immediately drove to the house and hand-delivered the correct keys to us in 5 mins. Mistakes happen, but I think they handled this mistake very well. The house is beautiful. Actually it is prettier in real life than in the pictures available online. (Which is often not the case!) My family had a great time, and we would definitely go back. P.S. The BEST part about this rental is that it is only a 1-minute drive away from the famous Squiggley's ice cream shop. You absolutely have to go at least once during your stay in Carolina Beach.

Hula Hut Review
July 9, 2012
Positives: The condo was clean and well kept... Everything was good... Negatives: One of my main requirement is Internet, since I was planning to login to my office and carry out some important tasks, but the internet was ON and OFF all the time. It would work for an hour and then would disappear for the next hour and so on, which made it very unreliable. I had made several calls and talked to Joy and the other office lady in the local office. I was told that it was a modem issue and that they were planning to replace it the next day... But no action was taken. This may not be an important thing for other tourists, but was on the top of my list. - The other thing worth mentioning is the TV. The TV is an old box TV, instead of a plasma or a LED/LCD flat panel tv. This made connecting using laptops or Rouku player with the TV impossible. Other than the above, the overall experience was very good.

Our stay at the Hula Hut was very enjoyable. The house is a short walk from the beach. While we would have enjoyed an ocean view, we were not willing to pay almost double for it! The short walk (maybe 3-4 minutes) never stopped us from making several trips to the beach each day. The house itself is well-appointed and offered enough room for five teenagers and three adults to be comfortable for the week. The only major flaw was the lack of a propane grill. We ended up going to Walmart to buy a small grill instead of even trying to use the very old and very rusty charcoal grill. All in all our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable.

We were three families - me, my kids and grandkids all came in from our own hometowns. We spent a wonderful reunion vacation at the Hula Hut, and it was a send-off for my daughter-in-law who was deploying to Afghanistan as a Navy psychologist. We all loved the decor, the amenities, and the beach proximity. After full days at the beach, my grandkids watched TV and played board games at night and my children and I enjoyed the decks, taking walks, and preparing family meals in the well-appointed kitchen. I can't think of anything that I would change or add, except maybe a wagon or wheeled cart for hauling kids and equipmennt back and forth to the beach! I know we'll want to do this trip again, and I would absolutely choose the Hula Hut next time. An extra treat: we spend time at our condo in Hawaii almost every year, and the Hula Hut was full of reminders of our other favorite beach vacation spot! Thank you!

The hula hut is a wonderful property. Within walking distance of the beach but far enough away for me to not be worried about my 5 yr old ending up on the beach alone. Decorated beautifully, and had a well stocked kitchen. I definitely plan to go back!

Hula Hut was very clean and decorated nicely. It was close enough to the beach to walk. The location was kinda in a more crowded part of town, but the neighborhood was quiet. My husband especially loved the super nintendo!
Soon we must leave the Hula Hut after a long (3+ weeks) holiday rental. Even though the weather has been unseasonably cold, we've still had a good time. The upstairs sun deck is fabulous even on a chilly day!
This is the fifth year in a row that we've come to Carolina Beach during our semester break but our first stay here. There are so many positives about your place - comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, TV's in every bedroom, attractive decor and good location.
Mostly just the two of us were here, but we did have guests on two occasions. We will probably return next December and will hope for warmer weather so we can pay golf more frequently. We'll keep in touch.

We enjoyed our stay here at the Hula Hut. It was a great place to spend a few days with our son/brother before his deployment with the marines. We love the fish on the wall upstairs! It's a great location and a cozy home. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Your home has been a wonderful get-a-way. We love the "Hula Hut" motif. You have stocked the place better than any other home we've stayed. All week long we've daydreamed about having a place like this ourselves. Thanks for providing a little gift of heaven for us.

Thank you for the use of this awesome house. There were 9 of us in this house and we all enjoyed our stay. We never felt like the space was too small and usually you do when you travel with a group of this size. The decorations are great too! We were amazed at how well stocked the kitchen was and the dishes are beautiful.

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at the "Hula Hut". We had such a great time and this is a great place to stay! Everything was perfect! We even got to be extras in "One Tree Hill" and saw Chad Michael Murry! We will definitely be back to Wilmington!

To the owners of the Hula Hut,
Thank you for providing us such a wonderful get away! We had full days of beach, shopping and eating and were able to look forward to retiring "in Hawaii!" Your decorating is phenomenal! The out door showers was a very smart addition. With our family of 7 it was great having everyone together and "oh so comfortable!"

Don't take our word for how great Hula Hut is, read the guest book in the living room to hear it in the words of our very satisified renters!
