Description of the Castara vacation apartment rental
Oceanview, is an exciting new addition to the holiday rental market in Castara,Tobago. This 2 bedroom apartment occupies half the middle floor of Castara Roundhouse. Castara Roundhouse is a uniquely interesting octagonal timbered house and has become a popular landmark both on land and from the sea. Each room has a fantastic Caribbean seaview and the beach and Castara's favourite bar and restaurant are a mere 2 minutes walk away. As locals would say, it has arguably the best view of the whole of Castara Bay. The gentle swish of the sea heard in the apartment is comforting rather than overpowering.

Visitors can be confident that both quality and comfort have been given every consideration with special attention to those little details that make accommodation an enjoyable part of the vacation experience. The property has been designed to integrate into and enhance the local landscape and is dedicated to reducing its tourist carbon footprint. The design incorporated many elements of passive cooling and does not depend on AC to make it cool and comfortable. There are many plans to develop the eco theme in the future such as solar panels.

Local trades were used throughout the construction, much of the wood was responsibly managed Cypress, milled in Tobago and made into furniture or doors by talented local joiners.

The well equipped bespoke kitchen is a joy to cook in and includes a cafetiere for real coffee lovers. Comfort in is assured with good quality posturepaedic mattresses, coresprung with memoryfoam top and bottom. Both beds of course have mosquito nets. I can confidently say that the accommodation exceeds expectations formed by the photographs.

Area Information
Castara is still considered to be (and please excuse the cliche) the jewel in Tobago's crown. This is particularly so for the unique holiday experience this fishing village offers as well as the stunningly beautiful location at the edge of the rainforest. I would emphasize that it is not a tourist resort like Crown Point, for example, and is more suited to those discerning holidaymakers who looking for something a little different. It is a fully working village and the inhabitants have been generous for a long time in welcoming visitors to the village. Many locals make it their business to ensure that visitors enjoy their holiday experience here and are integrated into the community. Add to that easily accessible trails and walks, a river and waterfalls a vibrant wildlife and one begins to understand why people return year after year after year. This is my 15th year in the village and I'm lucky enough to have been here almost full time for 4 of those.

The village can be very quiet or very lively depending on the time of year or day of the week and what fete might be happening. Each bar/restaurant has their 'night' each week and the Boathouse bar and restaurant is viewable from the apartment and a 2 minute walk. They are renown for their drumming night and limbo with after party every Wednesday throughout the year. For further information, please check out My Tobago and other reviews of Castara and Tobago. If you are expecting to find 5 star hotels here you will be disappointed so please make sure this is the type of holiday you are seeking.Further information can be found in the welcome book in the apartment.

All newcomers to a Caribbean country should be aware that the day starts early for the locals and there are always an abundance of cockerals who have little sense of time and odd bursts of canine conversations. Having said that it is remarkably quiet and peaceful at the apartment but bring earplugs if you think it will affect you. I love this village so much that I want to make sure that people have a clear idea of the type of holiday they are booking into and can totally enjoy and make the most of their experience in Castara.

Tours, boat or fishing trips, trail blazing, car hire, cook hire, etc. can be organized for you or you can make your own arrangements depending on who you meet in the village.
