About the area

About the Isle of Palms, SC Bordered by pristine beaches and a network of marsh creeks, the barrier island of Isle of Palms has been a vacation spot since the late 19th century when it was only accessible by ferry. In 1929, a bridge was built, which opened up the island to more than just local residents. Today, it’s the island’s great fishing, beaches and golf that provide a few of the magnets for visitors. With a laid-back, easy going, resort lifestyle, the most popular fashion statement is flip-flops and a t-shirt. Isle of Palms is a great place to gear down from a hectic lifestyle. The magnificent stretch of beach on Isle of Palms is both photogenic and fun. Once you’ve done your obligatory sunbathing and beachcombing at the Isle of Palms County Park Beach, head to nearby Charleston, a 30-minute drive away, which has historic sites, landmarks, shopping districts, golf courses and family attractions like The South Carolina Aquarium and Fountain Walk, a new dining, entertainment and shopping complex nearby. For golfers, the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms features two 18-hole courses designed by Tom Fazio and there are several more excellent layouts on the mainland, including Patriots Point and Charleston National Country Club. Of Course we would say that the BEACH is the best thing to do close to Carolina Elegance Beach House; #2 is Isle of Palms County Park; Eco Tours and Water Sports are close behind. The Boat House is only a block away and we love it - great place to watch a sunset and to have dinner every night and brunch on the weekends; there are also eight other restaurants within two miles. We always rent a golf cart and use it the entire time we are at Carolina Elegance

Getting around

You will need a car or UBER/Taxi to get from the airport. It is probably best to have your own car so that you can get to the wonderful areas of the island. There are over 40 restaurants only a close distance away that you will need to have a car or rent a golf cart to get to during your visit.

“Just as described!”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2016

This home was just as described.....beautifully decorated, cozy and just like home! The beds were so comfy! We had everything we needed to prepare our meals there. And the complimentary bottle of wine was nice! Also, I must mention that the gentleman we called when we had a question (Stuart) was extremely nice and very helpful. We will definitely be rent this place again when we return to the area!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for the nice review. It was a pleasure to have all of you visit.

As soon as we walked into the condo we were impressed! Karen's home was so inviting and cozy. Each room was decorated beautifully. All the beds were extremely comfortable and the entire place is spotless! The kitchen was a dream and we had everything we needed at our disposal. We only needed to buy the groceries! After our long day of travel, a crisp bottle of chilled wine was waiting for us in the fridge! A thoughtful gesture from Karen. My nieces wedding was on a plantation in Charlestown and it only took about 20 minutes to get there. Great restaurants and shops are minutes away. The Wasabi restaurant was a favorite of ours. Trust me when I say, you will not be disappointed when staying at this home. I'm also a fanatic about cleanliness.... this home is CLEAN ! It was also a plus to have access the the washer and dryer to keep up with all the laundry! Thanks again Karen for your hospitality. We will definitely be back!
My Response
Thank you for the kind words. We loved having your family in two of our three units and hope to hear from them,as well. It's always nice to have guests like you all that know exactly what you want and need. We were happy that we had two cribs for the babies and that we could reserve the condo right by the pool so that you could enjoy that too. Isn't it terrific to be able to wash your clothes and go home from vacation with CLEAN clothes while you relax and watch a movie? To know that you are coming back and will refer us to friends is amazing. I love being a wine maker and knowing that my wine was a "soft landing" for your trip is even better. If you are ever in Napa please let me know. I look forward to meeting you in person. Karen

We enjoyed a lovely 4 day getaway in your beautiful condo. It was more than comfortable with soft linens and every amenity we could need. The extras were much appreciated such as dishwasher and laundry tablets, bath soap, shampoo etc. Most rentals do not include these things and it was so convenient that you did. The bottle of wine was a lovely surprise as well. There was even a dog bed and treats for our dog! We were an easy 10 minute drive to the beach and 20 minute drive to the city. We were originally searching for a rental a bit closer to the beach, but literally could not find anything with such lovely furnishings and such great reviews. In the end, it was such a short drive and actually quite nice to leave the tourist areas and head "home" to a peaceful and relaxing neighborhood. On your recommendation, we dined at Sermet's and Magnolia's and had delicious meals. We also toured the city on a horse drawn carriage and fell in love with the gorgeous surroundings. Our party included 3 generations, with our teenage daughters and my mother in law celebrating her 75th birthday and we all had a wonderful time. Can't wait to plan a return and we would definitely book your condo again!

This is the second time we've stayed here while visiting Charleston. The property is extremely well appointed and well maintained. Downtown Charleston is a short drive, as are many of the other smaller communities around Charleston that have just as many great restaurants and fun things to do. What's best is that it easily accommodated us, our 10 month old, plus my mom, my sister, and her husband. As much as we love to eat out while in Charleston, it was nice to make a big family dinner one night and stay in!
My Response
Thanks for the kind words. We feel honored when guests come and stay with us over and over. It's terrific that you were able to enjoy your family by cooking a meal together while staying at our condo on vacation. We hope that we get to see all of you again. Take care.

Our family gathered here for the Christmas holiday and had an amazing time! The Kelsey had everything we needed and more to make our stay perfect. Karen and Stuart were helpful and responsive to all of our needs both before and during our stay. The restaurant suggestions that Karen provided were excellent! We had the best mac & cheese on the planet at Daniel Island Grill! We also enjoyed preparing Christmas dinner together in the townhouse and found that the kitchen was not only lovely, but had absolutely every kitchen item that we needed. The homey feeling and comfortable furnishings were lovely to come home to after a long busy day of sightseeing. The décor and cleanliness were impeccable. We spent a whole day at Patriots Point touring the Laffey and the Yorktown. If you love history, this is a must see. We loved the Charleston City Market and the Battery too. So much to do and see, we wish we could stay longer! If you are looking for a fun family getaway, the Kelsey and all it has to offer is the perfect choice! We hope to come back soon!

We stayed at this condo with our twin 2 yr old boys, 2 dogs, and my parents and in-laws. The management was very helpful and even provided us an extra safety gate. it was very clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. The neighborhood was great for walking my dogs, and it was an easy drive to the beach as well as to downtown Charleston. My boys enjoyed the chidlren's games provided in the condo as well as their little makeshift room in the spacious walk-in closet in the Master... it was a large empty closet and this is where we put their toddler cots for sleeping. Karen provided much helpful info about restaurants and grocery stores. It was a wonderful stay!!! Thank you so much!!

I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in your town home. It shows that the owners have put so much thought and concern in making sure their guests have a wonderful experience. The decor was stylish and comfortable. The mattress and bedding was wonderful. We cooked a few nights and had everything we needed. The bottle of wine was a wonderful surprise. Having our pets with us was a complete joy. Thank you so much for providing such great accommodations at such a fair price. We took your advice on Dragon Palace and had a great meal there as well. I could not have been more pleased with everthing. Thank you!

My husband, 7 year-old daughter, and our friends who have an 11 month-old baby recently stayed at this condo while vacationing for the first time in Charleston and it was the cutest house ever! The pictures are accurate and it may have been even cuter in person. It was super clean, great modern appliances, fine linen, etc. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner so you do not need to bring your pots and pans from home! It was very cozy and homey.
My family and I were all very happy and HIGHLY recommend anyone to stay here!

This tastefully decorated condo has all the amenities of home and then more. Comfortable and spacious with quiet surroundings. Owner went above and beyond the be sure our arrival, stay and departure went smoothly. Her suggestions for local eateries were winners. Daniel Island offers shopping and restaurants nearby yet is a short drive to Charleston, plantations and other tourist attractions. Returning to a quiet, calm area following a full day was a plus for us. We will definitely look forward to a return visit in the future.
My Response
Thank you for staying with us. You all were a pleasure and it is wonderful to have guests that enjoy our home as much as we do. We appreciate when others like the fact that a mere 8-12 minutes from downtown Charleston is wonderful for a quiet evening after a busy day!

We really enjoyed your condo. It was very comfortable and in a great location. We went on several walks around the quaint neighborhood. The people were very friendly. When we entered the condo we noticed how clean everything was and we immediately felt at ease. It was great to have a washer and dryer. The beds were all comfortable and the rooms were spacious. After sightseeing all day it was nice to relax and watch tv. The kitchen was well stocked for our needs. We all enjoyed sitting on the back deck and relaxing. Several restaurants recommended by Karen that we enjoyed were Melvin's BBQ, Daniel Island Grille, and Early Bird Diner. The condo was in a good location to venture out. An extra plus was that we got to meet Stuart (the caretaker). Thanks for the great wine!
