Description from owner

If you are a traveler who wants to live and feel your surroundings then Casa San Juan de Dios is your Oasis; located in the heart of San Miguel. As you walk out the massive front door you can experience the bustling Mercado San Juan de Dios, a quiet church, international language school and the hundreds of restaurants throughout the city streets.

This private Oasis is perfect for families or an intimate vacation for up to 3 couples, with private quarters for everyone. Enter the residence through a grand wooden door and step into your private courtyard. Enjoy the tranquil sounds from the fountain and make yourself a drink using fresh limes from your lime tree or make your way to the second level sun terrace. You will quickly discover that San Miguel is all about outdoor living and your Oasis brings the indoors out.

The bright and airy home was recently painted and circles around a private courtyard. Here you can relax and enjoy the gentle splashing of the fountain as you linger over coffee, a late breakfast, evening meal or after dinner drinks. The salon is the perfect place to spend a quiet evening, entertaining friends and family or watching a movie after preparing a meal in the lovely Mexican tiled kitchen. Two of the three bedrooms are located on the ground floor, with double sized beds, private bathroom and windows opening onto the courtyard. Casa San Juan de Dios is all about outdoor living; all of the bright and airy rooms open onto the courtyard.

The courtyard and terrace are tastefully landscaped with ficus trees, bougainvillea and did I mention the lime tree. The second level master suite overlooks the courtyard and is next to your private den.

Your housekeeper will stop by to clean and change linens three times a week, but is available for an extra fee to cook or babysit. Our house manager will be your host, serving as a great source of information and can assist you with all of your scheduling needs.

Residence was recently painted in 2015 and water purification system added.

About the area

Over 500 years old, San Miguel de Allende is historically known as the birthplace of Ignacio Allende and the first municipality declared independent of Spanish rule during the Mexican War of Independence. It's Baroque/Neoclassical colonial structures were "discovered" by foreign artists who moved in and began art and cultural institutes such as the Instituto Allende and the Escuela de Bellas Artes. This gave the town a reputation attracting artists. This attracted foreign art students, especially former U.S. soldiers studying on the G.I. Bill after WWII. Since then, the town has attracted a very large number of foreign retirees, artists, writers and tourists. The main attraction of the town is it's well preserved historic center, filled with buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. Cobblestone streets filled with a variety of restaurants vendors, year round festivals and a slower pace of life make San Miguel de Allende the perfect getaway. Welcome to San Miguel; a World Heritage Site.
