Description from owner

If warm hospitality, a friendly atmosphere, a bit of pampering and engaging conversations with your hosts and fellow travelers are your cup of tea, try our bed and breakfast.

The Victorian Loft Bed and Breakfast is an elegant 1894 Victorian home overlooking the West Branch of the scenic Susquehanna River in historic Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Walking distance to the theaters, restaurants, shopping and parks. Featuring lots of Victorian "eye-candy" - gingerbread porches, ornate cherry grand staircase, cherry and oak woodwork, stained glass windows and period furnishings. The Victorian Loft provides all the charm of a traditional Victorian home, allowing guests to step back in time to a graceful era.

Antique silver and china place-settings glow beneath the crystal chandelier in the formal dining room to make our intentionally special breakfast a feast for body and soul. Each morning of your stay a memorable full breakfast featuring homemade baked goods, custom blended juices and a bountiful main course is served family style. We often join our guests for breakfast during which we happily share the history of the home, and answer questions about the town and area. We enjoy getting to know our guests and swapping tales with them.

Amenities Include: Hi-speed wireless internet; in-room libraries, TV/VCR and DVD players, family movies; central air conditioning; sitting porches; a music room with a grand piano, and an informal Victorian parlor with a fireplace where you can relax and meet fellow travelers.

Beds: 3 Queen Beds, 1 Double Bed, 1 Twin Bed

About the area

This traditional Provencal villa is a short walk from Eygalieres, where quiet cafes and Michelin starred restaurants line the small street of the ‘centre du village’. The "town" of paradou consists of three shops, which was fine and there was anything you could need. there was an excellent butcher, a great bakery and a tiny grocery store with the most fantastic produce and wine section i have ever seen. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is located within 10 minutes driving distance and Avignon is a 30-minute drive. Others nearby sites include the 'Pont du Gard' and historic Uzes (45-minute drive); Luberon Valley hilltop villages of Gordes, Ménerbes, Roussillon (30 to 40 minutes by car); Cotes du Rhone vineyards and Chateauneuf-du-Pape (45-minute drive); Aix-en-Provence & Marseilles (including the International airport) are reachable within 1 hour by car. Bike tours, wine tour, olive oil tradition, golf courses, local markets and the best restaurants in Alpilles. Clearfield County serves as a gateway to the Pennsylvania Wilds, a rural 12-county region with as much public land as Yellowstone National Park and virtually unlimited outdoor recreation opportunities - beautiful rivers, forests, robust wildlife, rich oil and lumber history and authentic small towns. Whether it is birding, biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, sight-seeing, geocaching, golfing, swimming, or cross-country skiing that catches your fancy, you can do it in Clearfield County. The All-American town of Clearfield is the county seat, named for the "clear fields" made by the large number of bison that once inhabited the area. Clearfield, one of I-80's best kept secrets, is a perfect overnight stop. Visitors may discover us by accident but when they do, they want to come back. Owner Supplied Testimonials

We have stayed here twice. Once as a couple and once as a family. We felt very welcomed and comfortable. Breakfast is absolutely delicious! It was a great way to start our day. Our room the first time had a balcony overlooking the river.

The next time we came we stayed on the top floor which was a two bedroom suite. There was a refrigerator.

Both times we had warm homemade cookies in our room waiting.
The next time we are in the area we will be sure to stay here again.

This was meant to be a quick sleep on my way to the Amtrak Auto transport to Florida. What a delightful distracting mini vacation it turned out to be!

A stunning home, beautiful room, lovely town, yummy dinner in an Italian restaurant , a great sleep and topped off with a FABULOUS breakfast with the most friendly and relaxed hostess who can probably hold a conversation about anything!

Am reserving again for this fall's drive!

Beautiful building. Great location. Warm and friendly proprietor. Delicious homemade breakfast. Large, clean rooms beautifully decorated. Located on the river with a great view.

I will return if ever at another concert at Bryce Jordan Center.

First Time at a B&B

We are on a trip to new jersey/new york. I thought it would be a nice change to try a B&B. I read the reviews and decided to stay here.

We stayed in the loft due to the fact that it has two rooms. The place was very clean and had a lot of room. The owner was great and made us feel at home. Breakfast was also fabulous. We would defiantly stay here again. We also went to a movie at the Clearfield theater and enjoyed that as well.

Returning from Virginia beach we decided to have a overnight stay over at the Victorian Loft in Clearfield PA. Great choice and a fantastic host in Peggy.

This is a classic turn of the century family home that she shares with travelers on the road. We could not have made a better choice, with its short walk to anywhere in the downtown core.

Many stories shared in the morning breakfast that she prepares with local and fresh ingredients. Hats off to you Peggy, the party of 4 from Virginia beach to Ontario will be back.

Catherine and Doug

This was the best B & B we ever stayed in. The hospitality was above and beyond. The furnishings at the Victorian home was out of this world. The breakfast was awesome and the touch of homemade juice made it extra special. I would definitely stay here again.

Our little group from Australia were planning our road trip around the North-East, and just from the look of the map, thought that Clearfield would make a nice stop between Philadelphia and Niagara Falls to break up the drive.

We were pleasantly surprised, and extremely thankful that we made the decision, as we ended up stumbling upon one of the nicest places we have ever stayed, and possible our favourite in all of the 13 cities we visited!

From the minute we emailed to find out about booking, Peggy was communicative, helpful and very well informed about the local area. She was happy to provide tourist info for our trip, and heightened our expectations for the trip. Pulling into the Victorian Loft B&B was an experience in itself. We don't have much of this kind of architecture in Australia, so we were enthralled with the charm and beauty of the house - both inside and out.

Our stay in Lydia's room was wonderful. Everything was immaculate, and we had a gorgeous little balcony overlooking the river. The beds were comfortable, and it really felt like home. Only a few minutes in, we all felt like we should have stayed a little longer!

Breakfast was an absolute treat, and we got to sit down with Peggy and the other guests and learn a bit more about the house, and the area. We bought some knitted socks and headed on our way, but Peggy's Victorian B&B really left an impression, and we would be recommend that anyone traveling around the area should STOP, take a breath, and enjoy a real, warm B&B experience in Clearfield.
