About the area

This historic area of Clearwater is just blocks from downtown, two blocks to the bay (beautiful pier) and five minutes to Clearwater Beach over the causeway bridge. We are located near the bluffs of the original Fort Harrison, a historic recuperation center for soldiers built in 1822. This area is rich in history and is surrounded by huge mossy oaks and beautiful historic homes at every corner. Top-rated restaurants and coffee shops are all within walking distance of the home as are numerous piers to fish or sit and relax and enjoy the surroundings. Publix is one block away which is perfect for grabbing groceries and saving money by cooking at home! Piers overlooking Clearwater Bay. Walk over the causeway to Clearwater Beach. Library and Historical Museum nearby. Capitol Theater and Coachman Park just a few blocks away--with many musical events throughout the year to enjoy! 2 Baseball stadiums within a short drive. Busch Gardens approximately 45 minutes from the Cottage. 1 1/2 hours drive to Orlando for Disney, Universal etc! Cristinos (Italian -our favorite and top-rated in Clearwater), Tequilas Mexican, Umai Cafe (Japanese), Starbucks, Jimmy Johns. Multiple others within walking distance!

Getting around

Rental car is easiest, but Uber is available as is the Jolly Trolley to go wherever you want!

Getting here

St Pete/Clearwater Airport (PIE) and Tampa International is within 15-20 min from our home. Jolly Trolley is a free service that can take you most anywhere in the Clearwater/CLW Beach etc. area. Parking is available on site (driveway) or on street parking around the house.

Interaction with guest

We will always let you know ahead of time if we plan on coming by the Cottage. Usually we are by to do work on the outside and do not need in the house unless there is a problem.

“Relaxing in paradise”

Reviewed 22 May 2016

We felt like we were home. Everything was clean and tidy. The cottage is adorable with all its brightly coloured rooms. We loved having coffee on the front patio in the mornings and cocktails on the back patio in the evening. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. It was a great place to relax but still close to many things to do. We hope to come back soon.

I had a great stay.. I took advantage of the outside sitting area every morning with my coffee in hand. The neighborhood was great, and walking distance to eating establishments. Im looking forward to coming back.

Cute, historic house in quaint neighborhood. The house is close to the water, retail, restaurants, etc. The house is updated with modern furniture and fixtures. The house is a great value for vacationing in Clearwater. Owner was easy to deal with and very accommodating.

“Great relaxing getaway”

We loved staying at the cottage with our two kids. Easy drive to Tampa for some outings and a short drive to several beaches. Highly recommend this place. I enjoyed starting the morning with my coffee on the patio. The owners were great, easy to work with and very organized.

Owner's reply: Hope to have you back next time your in town. Be sure to check out our new addition in Clearwater called "The Mariner House at Clearwater Bay", just near Edgewater Park ... has a view of the water from the front yard. Perfect place to have morning coffee from the Bistro set. Safe travels home !

“Great cottage for 6 5 min from Clearwater beach!”

Beautiful cottage for 6 ppl, 5 min drive from Clearwater beach! Lovely beach chic decoration and very thoughtful owners. They thought of everything, beach towels, mats, dishwasher, washer and dryer, comfy beds etc. We would definitely return and stay at their place!

“Great Cottage in a great location!”

Reviewed 11 May 2015

Loved this cottage! It had everything we were looking for in a place to stay in the Clearwater area! Close to the beach, restaurants and shopping without being right in the middle of the hub-bub. In a quiet neighborhood. The inside was roomy, clean and just super cute layout and decor!! Loved the mattress too; REALLY COMFY! THANK YOU!!!

“Cottage at Clearwater”

The cottage was even nicer than pictured. It truly is charming. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen well appointed and the location perfect for getting to the beach, restaurants and park. Great to get out and walk around.

Owner's reply: Glad you had a wonderful time. Was a great week to get out of the harsh winter weather up North ! Look us up next time you are in the area.

this home is delightful, from the stained glass windows to the cotton sheets to the pantry cabinet filled with spices and kitchen basics left behind by other guests. I have stayed here 6 times and have another 12 visits planned. I would not consider another place in Clearwater. The neighborhood is old Florida with lots of 300 year old oak trees and two or three churches within walking distance that play bells regularity. The beach is a 10 minute drive away but you will breathe a sigh of relief when you arrive back home to this cozy cottage. I give it 5*

Owner's reply: Thanks Beth! I'm so happy you love the house as much as we do!

“Better than home...”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2014

1st day - I was afraid to touch anything because everything was decorated so perfectly and was so clean. 2nd day - we were talking about how easy it would be to permanently live in this cottage. Rooms are much larger than you'd expect. Owners provided everything you'd need, including a washer/dryer. This was our 1st VRBO and Derek made it easy by clearly explaining the process and being readily available by phone or email. The location was close to Clearwater beach, St. Pete's, Tampa, and Tarpon Springs. We enjoyed being in a real neighborhood, walking the historic areas, being able to walk downtown and to the dock overlooking the bay. A grocery store was 1 block away and we walk there every day for a newspaper. The only negative that I have is that the purple cottage has set a pretty high standard for renting a place in the future.

Owner's reply: We hope to see you back real soon !

This little lavender cottage home was one of the best choices we've made in a long time. Every detail has been addressed. The bed was like "the cloud" available at upscale hotels. We were tired every night from the days fun so getting into such a comfy bed was sooo great. We rented bikes by the beach and road thru the historic neighborhoods. The market is set up on central street on Wednesdays from 10-2. We ate breakfast at a local diner. People were friendly The screened porch was so relaxing in the morning and evening. Thank you for sharing your home!!!

Unbelievable experience - first time to this part of Florida, didn't know where to stay, and gave this cottage a try. Everything thing we had hoped for, and more - very clean, quiet neighborhood, Bed was soooooo comfortable that we didn't want to get out! Kitchen equipped with everything you need. Walked to the beach every morning, found a nice little breakfast place couple blocks away, as well as nice places for lunch/dinner within walking distance. Although there was no real reason to leave in our car because everything was there, we drove to clearwater beach and watched the sun set (about 10 minutes away). So very impressed with this place - thank you very much for the great hospitality. We WILL be back - already planning May or June get away. Thank you very much!

I recently spent the week at the cottage and was very impressed. The house is wonderfully decorated with all of the creature comforts of home. The beds were very comfortable which provided me with some of the best sleep I have had in months. Details such as soft bath towels and sheets made my stay all the more enjoyable. The area is quiet and beautiful with many places to see and eat with a walking distance. Just a few minutes away from Clearwater beach, made it very nice to go from a long day at the beach right to the cottage in no time. I found the owners Jennifer and Derek to be very easy to work with during the booking process as well as through out the stay when I had questions. I have recommended this cottage to many of my friends and have already made plans for another visit in May.

We stayed in early March 2013 and the cottage was immaculately cared for ... hard to believe it's 100 years old! Lots of history in this harbor view neighborhood just steps from downtown Clearwater / Cleveland Street. We just loved walking one block to the beautifully maintained and clean pier right on the ICW/ Clearwater Bay overlooking SandKey Bridge and the Gulf of Mexico. Great spot to bring the provided beach chairs and sit and drink coffee and read the paper every morning and evening. We also especially liked the locality to access Clearwater Beach in literally 5 minutes. Just down Oak Ave and take a left and your across the causeway bridge on the beach in minutes! We just love the location and all it's fine amenities... the beds and linens are so comfy! You guys thought of every little detail. We are coming back this Summer ! Thanks again for sharing your home. Robert Robles, "Cold" Michigan

The Cottage at Clearwater was the perfect get-a-way for our family. Weather was perfect, people were perfect and the "little purple house" was perfect! Couldn't have dreamed of a better place to stay and feel right at home. A few places we liked include: Clearwater Beach, John's Pass, Crabby Bills, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium etc.... I could go on for days! Whoever is next will definitely enjoy their stay! Relax and kick back because this is the perfect spot to do it. The neighborhood makes for great walks, looks and experiences! Thanks to Jennifer and Derek for the wonderful home. We will be back! --Gault Family

What a great time! The Cottage is close to the Long Center Pool (which we came to for our swim meet) as well as the beach. We immediately felt "at home" in the Cottage and loved being able to rest and eat here rather than always going out. We did enjoy Cristinos our first night in town - yummy! The pizza was fabulous! We also enjoyed Frenchys on Clearwater Beach - fun atmosphere for the whole family with wonderful live entertainment (Reggae the night we were there)! It was great having a fully functional kitchen with all the supplies (especially the blender- we made lots of smoothies). Overall, the Cottage was absolutely wonderful and exceeded all we were expecting. Each day we took time to enjoy the screened porch as well as the back patio and found the area to be so serene and peaceful, we will definitely be back!

What a great place to spend time with family! Thanks you so much for allowing us to stay at your home and help us build lasting memories with our kids. We spent most of our time at the beach. We drove to Tradewinds in St.Pete Beach so the kids could play on the water slide in the ocean and on land. Little pricey, but the kids had fun. We will be back!

What a great week! We loved the Cottage. Now that we've figured everything out and where the good beaches are, we wish we had another week. This was the first time we've traveled and not stayed in a resort. We definitely preferred staying at the Cottage; it felt like home. We had pizza twice at Cristinos and would recommend it to future renters. I enjoyed getting up early in the morning and having coffee on the porch and watching the lizards! Your Cottage is charming and very comfortable. Thanks for the great vacation!
