“Amazing Cabin”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2015

We had our Thanksgiving at this cabin this year and it was perfect! It is so clean and well decorated. We loved the big kitchen that was perfect for our big meal. We enjoyed the fire pit for smores and the hot tub after a nice hike up to Anna Ruby Falls. I will definitely be renting this cabin again in the future. The only thing that we didn't like was its very dark in there. Should have better stronger lighting.

“Quiet and close”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2015

This home was great! We stayed here for Labor Day weekend, and the photos really don't do it justice. It is so much more spacious in person. I loved the high ceilings. There was plenty of room for everyone. One of the upstairs bedroom had 2 twin beds, but we were able to push them together to make a king and it worked just fine. It is close enough to Helen, but still so quiet that you can forget that at times. It is a shared unit, but that was no problem for us. We never heard anything from the neighbors. The kitchen was nice and had just about anything you could need while preparing a meal. The downstairs is so spacious, I was not expecting a room like that! We really didn't spend much time in it though, we mainly stayed on the main level. It's located in a nice, quiet, and gated community; there was a guard on duty every time we drove in or out. The back deck was perfect for a night of playing a game (we brought) of Apples to Apples, with friends. I will definitely keep this place in mind for our next trip to Helen. The owner is easy to reach, super helpful, and very nice. We were overall very pleased.

“Wrong Wrong Wrong”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2014

The view is unbelievable. That's the good. If you don't mind a dirty run down house, then it might not be so bad. To be perfectly honest if it wasn't dirty & run down he would probably be asking $2500 to $3200 a week (it would be worth it). Like the old adage says if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Walter seems nice enough just doesn't seem to have all his ducks in a row. First he told me he would rent the house to me for $1685. Then he told me to send a check for $1800. He said the $115 difference was the cleaning deposit. 9 days before reserved date, Walter tried giving us a smaller house, we refused. We arrived Friday (we wanted to get there on Saturday) the house was filthy. There was literally about 2" of dog hair everywhere & a strong smell of cigarette smoke through out the whole house. Well it's me, my girl friend, my son & my daughter in laws brother. We got there at 6 p.m. & cleaned until 1:30 a.m., being that we had more people on the way & I'm not the kind of guy to just sit around (plus I didn't want to be in that filth). On top of that, the main floor air conditioner didn't work. Since I am an air conditioning man, I checked the unit out, found that someone had removed the filters & the coil was stopped up causing the unit to freeze up. I cleaned the coil with an old toothbrush that we found at the house (this would be about the same as cleaning a car radiator with a tooth brush except not near as easy to get to). I asked Walter to pay me for cleaning the coil in which he declined (I can kind of understand this because he didn't ask me to fix the air conditioner but I wasn't going to sleep in the heat). I also tightened the bolts in the dining room chairs & dining room table which were about to fall apart. When we called Walter about the dirty house he said there had been a mistake & the cleaning girl would be there tomorrow at 9 a.m. (she actually got there at 3 p.m. & we had already cleaned the whole house). I asked Walter for my cleaning deposit & who's ever deposit that stayed there before us (since we had to clean the house). We changed the filters in both air conditioning units, thoroughly cleaned the house (washing all sheets, blankets, towels, cleaned counters, swept, vacuumed, mopped & removed piles of trash). Walter did not give me any money back, not even my own deposit. That's a reflection of his character not mine. Did not exactly plan on cleaning house before & after vacation, but what a great view!

“Beautiful home”

Beautiful cabin. Had everything we needed. Wish the hot tub was on the deck instead of ground floor (plus there were no chairs on the lower floor porch). Other than that- no complaints!!

“The views are spectacular!”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2013

Our family stayed in Bald Eagle Lodge for Thanksgiving week. We had a wonderful time and were not disappointed in the house. The road up Yonah Mountain is a dirt and gravel road, but a Jeep Compass, a Honda CRV, and a Kia Sportage had no problems with the ascent. The house has a new hot tub that is very nice, and you can sit in it and drink in the mountain views. The kitchen is equipped with what you will need. It is not spotlessly clean, but it isn't dirty. The cleaning crew could spend more time on dusting to improve the overall cleanliness. The bathrooms were clean and the linens were freshly laundered. There are a couple of houses close by and you share part of the driveway with two of them. But, there aren't any windows on that side where the neighbors are and the hot tub is in a private area. The owner, Walter, is easy to work with and easy to reach if we had any questions. I recommend Bald Eagle Lodge for your next getaway.

“Zeta Phi Beta Chapter Retreat”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2012

We Loooooooved this cabin and the area. Our chapter wanted a location close to home where we could bond and plan our upcoming calendar year. A success on both points. The chapter members are still talking about our experience and missing all the fun we had. We will definitely use this location again. Thank you Walter!!!

Owner's reply: Thanks for your kind thoughts , look forward to your return. Walter

“Beautiful View”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2012

This vacation property was everything that it promised to be. Great space, clean, large rooms and an awesome view with a hot tub! The only exception is the drive up to the house is pretty rough. Make sure you take it slow or you will need an alignment when the vacation is over.

“Good House...Great Views!!!”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2012

I spent a few nights here for NYE 2011/2012 and had a great time. The views from this house are spectacular. The house itself was very nice and we had no real problems. The kitchen is well stocked with just about anything you'd need to cook and eat. We found everything we used to be in working order. The house (especially the basement area) could use a little work in the painting and patching department but this isn't going to ruin your time here. The value for the price is exceptional and I'd recommend this place to just about anyone. Bottom line, if you like the mountains and relaxing, you'll enjoy this place. If you are used to white gloved service in pristine environments, find the nearest Ritz Carlton. The road to the house was bumpy but nothing out of the ordinary for a mountain road.
