Description of the Cloudcroft vacation cabin rental
This is a Single-Family Home located at 12 Canyon Road, Cloudcroft, NM. It has 3 bedrooms (there is a loft located upstairs with a 1/2 bath. The shower has the water turned off and is being converted to a closet), 2 1/2 baths and is approximately 2,312 square feet. The property was built in 1967.

Please remember, you are in the mountains were bugs fly and critters roam. I am not able to control every moth or spider that gets inside after the cabin is cleaned.

Guests will have access to all areas of the cabin and grounds with the exception of 1 locked pantry and the garage which is also locked. Parking is available in front of the garage and around the propane tank area.

TV's are available in each bedroom with DVD/VHS players. In the living room, there is a flat screen TV with ROKU 2, HULU, Pandora, Netflix and over 1500 movies for all ages (including sports for the dads). Internet is available!

The house is fully equipped, dishes, utensils, plastic ware, linens, towels, W&D, laundry soap, GRACO travel and play bed for infants and even jackets if you need them in the closet behind the master bedroom door). There is a fire place so don't forget to bring the firewood. A fire pit is below and you are welcome to enjoy it but I ask you be responsible for properly putting out the fire even when intoxicated!!

The house has 2 stairways that will get to the main floor, 1 has about 12 steps, the other has 5. If you can get up the 5 steps, the house is handicap accessible. Everything they would need is on the main floor.
The house is heated with propane, which is provided for you. Since I am paying for all the utilities, I just ask that you keep the inside thermostat at a moderate temp while home and when you leave for the day, lower it to a reasonable temp. When you depart the cabin at the end of your stay, please turn the thermostat to the lowest setting. Floor heaters are also available throughout the cabin. Electric blankets are available, if they are not on the beds, check the closets in each room.

There are stairs to the basement as well as up to the loft. Children love to play on the stairs, so I have baby gates tucked under the loft stairwell. To save your sanity and voice, please use them to keep little ones safe. Toys and books can be found upstairs for the kids to use and by the back door for adults. If you find one you're enjoying and haven't finished, take it!! Book donations are always welcome!Crayons and coloring books are for the kids as well. Prior to leaving, parents are responsible for cleaning up after their children. Do not leave toys out and make sure the toy closet upstairs is tidy. THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE CLEANING DEPOSIT. I WILL CHARGE IF I HAVE TO CLEAN UP TOYS.

The water used is well water, therefore, hard water. I try to keep the toilet build up to a minimum but even I am not a miracle worker! Your understanding is appreciated!

The loft shower is not operable at this time, it needs new plumbing but the 2 bathrooms on the main floor are fully operable. There are lime stains in the master shower but I promise, it is clean, I just can't get the darn stains out!

The kitchen has hard water as well and so it makes everything you wash in the dishwasher cloudy. Just know, they are clean!!

If you see water in the basement next to the exterior wall, it seeps in thru the wall from outside. I lay old towels down to soak it up (towels above washer). It's pretty common I've been told.

There is a house phone available but will only allow local calls. All long distance calls must be collect or charged to your credit card.

Area Information
The property is located approximately 30 miles west of Alamogordo. It is listed as being Alamogordo because Cloudcroft was not listed in the drop down box. The subdivision is Waterfall and is approximately 7.4 miles outside of Cloudcroft NM. There is a beautiful waterfall flowing at the top of the hill from the cabin. This waterfall supplies fresh spring water to 3 ponds just below where trout is present. A new rule has been established that there is NO FISHING in these ponds.

Fishing is available just outside of town as is a ski resort for your winter months. During the spring and fall, the town has festivals which have booths full of arts and crafts. Many walking and hiking trails surround our area as well.

Just prior to your reservation time, I will provide you an email of how to get to the cabin as well as what attractions are here.
Attractions within Walking Distance
Waterfall, 3 ponds and lots of roads to walk!!
Nearby Restaurants
Big Daddy's at the end of town is my ultimate favorite but I have heard that Jack's BBQ is out of this world. Get there before 10:30 or you may not get any food!!!
Transportation
No public transportation. In winter months, I recommend a 4 WD!!
Best Time of the Year to Travel
I love the summer and spring but the winter snow is breathtaking too!!! All year round is the best time of the year!!

Other Vacation Rental Amenities
My property is kid friendly, we are very family oriented. Children keep the cabin going, from one generation to the next. Toys, books, coloring books, crayons, etc. I also have reading books for adults as well. We just set up the old bumper pool table for the kids in the basement. There is another living area there as well if the teenagers want privacy. TV coming soon to the basement!!
