Description of the Clyde vacation cabin rental
Bison Escape is a part of Buffalo Creek Vacations, which is less than a three minute drive to the main ranch. The legend has been told that on certain nights of the year and when the moon is just right, the Buffalo Creek Vacations bison and their llama friends escape from their normal stomping ground to get away from it all. While at Bison Escape, they enjoy true tranquility and relaxation at this private getaway.

Buffalo Creek Vacations is where the buffalo really roam on this private 65 acre little piece of heaven tucked away in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Whether watching the sunrise over the mountain peaks while the Smoky Mountains clear up for a beautiful day, or setting your sights on our herd of buffalo coming for their morning oats from our viewing platform at the feeding corral, you will not be disappointed. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or cocoa on the large front porch of this log cabin, or enjoy a refreshing beverage after a long soak in the hot tub!

If you are looking for a quiet 'get away from it all' retreat, this is it! Enjoy long hikes on the main ranch property, fishing within walking distance from the log cabin or take a trip into town to do some shopping or antiquing. Bison Escape features easy vehicular access on a flat road. As with all Buffalo Creek Vacation rental cabins, the kitchen comes fully stocked with all cooking supplies essential to preparing a great family meal.

Once over on the main area of Buffalo Creek Vacations, children will love the hike through the woods to the play area, The BC Corral! This custom designed area has everything from swings, zip line, slides, teeter totter, cargo nets, rock wall & even a horse shoe pit for the adults! The kids will love it here!

A vacation at the Bison Escape is surely one that your family will always enjoy looking back on!

We are pet friendly, size doesn't matter!

Bison Escape is awesome!

March 9, 2016

There were 5 adults in our party and Bison Escape was wonderful. The half bath is downstairs with one of the master bedrooms and the other master bedroom and bedroom are upstairs, so the ONLY inconvenience was the showers were both in the master suites. We loved being a bit secluded from the ranch. Sitting on the front porch watching the cows graze right across the driveway from us was so peaceful. The cabin sits at the end of the gravel road, so there were no cars going by. If you want to "unplug" for some peace and quite, this is the place. Maggie Valley and Waynesville are close enough to go to eat and shop and there's beautiful places to hike in the nearby mountains. We all loved our stay and plan to come again!

We enjoyed this vacation with our family and friends. The accomodations were perfect for 4 adults and 4 kids. We found the cabin very clean and organized, had everything we needed. Had a great time watching the feeding of the Bison and later went hiking throughout the beautiful property. We walked by horses, played in the playground and took lots of pictures. We also took a ride down to Ferguson as suggested to fish in the pond. Caught lots of trout on a bamboo stick. Yeah!!! Kids loved it. We did something exciting every day, thought cabin was very central. Hot tub was great after a hike up to Chimney Rock. Beautiful have to do this. We definitely recommend this cabin to others. Happy New Year!!

Our family fell in love with Bison Escape! It has such a welcoming, warm, down to earth feel because of Cheryl and her family, who were helpful at every turn, and have truly made it into something special with little touches like firewood and s'mores makings to greet us when we arrived. The kids enjoyed feeding the friendly horses each morning as my husband and I drank our coffee on the porch, the game room was a huge hit, the beds super cozy, and the chipmunk hole under the hammock quite entertaining. The kids made s'mores in the outdoor fireplace while my hubby and I sat in the hot tub looking at the milky way after a long day hike near Big Creek which included lots of swimming and playing in the (very cold) mountain stream. We also enjoyed exploring the trails, feeding the goats and llamas, seeing the bison, and goofing off in the tire swing and playground over at the main property. Our horseback ride with John at Panther Creek was beautiful and educational as he gave us the local and natural history of the mountain, including some civil war dramas. We took the short drive into Waynesville for a little funky/artsy culture, some yummy farm-to-table meals, good wine and microbrews. It's off the beaten path, quiet and secluded, but accessible to everything. Perfect place for a great family vacation - we will definitely be back again!!!

We arrived at Bison Escape & was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming it was. From the s'mores basket to our names greeting us by the door...what a nice touch! Our kids never came out of the game room except for more food to fill the bar that was in the game room! At night the adults sure enjoyed the hot tub & we grilled some bison burgers on the grill! Highly recommend! The cabin had everything inside that we needed! The kitchen is very well stocked & we ate most of our meals in, but we did venture out & recommend Butt on the Creek (BBQ)! It is less that a mile drive to the main ranch to see the buffalo which we did about 2 times. It was so great to see them up close! Our little kids really enjoyed that! Then we walked down to see the llamas & mini horses...thanks again for a memorable vacation. We will definitely recommend you to friends & be back!

PROS: Plenty of space, very comfortable bedding, in-house entertainment options for entire family, nice hot tub Cons: Odd living room seating with no end tables; Poorly maintained pots and pans; lots of "fees" and extra duties like taking the trash down the road Loved the beds and the local horses are very friendly. This was a great base of operations to the local shops and not bad to Asheville/Biltmore area. Never were able to see bison and in spite of name, they never come to the Bison Escape property. (We even tried to see them at feeding time as suggested but they were no where to be found.)
My Response
Dear Robert, Thank you for taking the time & leaving us feedback. I apologize about the endtable in the living room not being there, it got ruined & we pulled it out to fix it. We just opened in July, so I am surprised our pots are already ruined, we will replace them as soon as possible & I appreciate you letting us know. I am also sorry you never saw the bison. Not sure if it was raining when you were there, that is the only time we do not feed them. I am glad you enjoyed the rest of our amenities & your stay. Sincerely, Cheryl

What a beautiful cabin and location! This cabin is so inviting and has everything you need (and more!)... front porch to sit on, fire pit, hot tub, grill, game room and horses right outside the door to greet you in the morning. Such a tranquil setting. We enjoyed going over to see the bison, llamas, mini horses, goats and rabbits. The owners are so friendly. It is a very convenient location to Asheville or Cherokee. We would definitely recommend it!

Sorry for the late review, but I'd be remiss in not spreading the word about this beautiful vacation property. Although the picture perfect mountain setting itself was enough for me, the cabin in which we stayed, whimsically referred to as "Bison Escape", made our stay that much more perfect. There was something for everyone, from yummy smores making by the fire, a relaxing hot tub, a super fun game room, even friendly horses to feed. The main property is less than a mile away and well worth the visit. That's where we saw all the buffalo feeding each morning as well as minI horses, goats, and llamas. Buffalo Creek is conveniently located, close to attractions, like Max Patch, but I have to admit that at a beautiful, fun, serene place like this, and with such friendly owners, we didn't want to leave, and we can't wait to go back!

We just love Western NC & this cabin. It was so nice to sit out in the hot tub after go out on adventures everyday! Buffalo Creek Vacations is so convenient to all the attractions. We went white water rafting through Cheryl who booked us a trip w/ Wild Water Adventures & it was wonderful! We went to Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls & another cool place that our kids LOVED that Cheryl told us about. We have rented other cabins in the past, but hands down this cabin had everything we needed & more. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the Great Smoky Mountains! Also, we drove over to the main ranch right down the road & watched the buffalo being fed which was a huge treat for our kids & then we were able to buy bison meat at their little store which we grilled out one night & it was fabulous!
