Beautiful sunrises and panoramic river views make this Cobb Island Vacation rental Home spectacular. Our guests tell us that the focus of the house is our large screened porch which faces the riverfront as well as the spacious kitchen which features an overstock of gourmet kitchen items. Comfortable beds and great pillows help to round out the amenities.

A private pier for fishing, boating or enjoying that late afternoon cocktail and a private beach for swimming are there for your outside enjoyment. Kayaks, bicycles and fishing gear are provided. Cobb Island is a great uncrowded get away for relaxing with families and friends. Sample fresh crabs or oysters (in season) at one of the four local restaurants or check out the Cobb Island Gallery, a local gourmet coffee and gift shop.

Area Information
Cobb Island is located in Southern Maryland (Charles County), approximately 45 miles south of Washington. The island is located in the Potomac River, where the river is nearly six miles wide. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge spanning Neale Sound. Neale Sound is where waterman keep their boats and where most of Cobb Island's eateries lean up against the river. Further around on the Wicomico River, one can see the remains of the old Cobb Island lighthouse and on clear days you can see all the way to St. Clement's Island, the landing site of Maryland's first settlers. Lastly, the Potomac River side gives up a broad view of the Virginia shore as well as the setting for some of Cobb Island's glorious sunsets.

Cobb Island was once primarily a weekend and summer getaway. Today the Cobb Island community is comprised mostly of year-round residents and a sprinkling of weekend visitors, coming to enjoy the water or catch up on their relaxation. Boating, crabbing, fishing, sailing, kayaking and other water sports are the mainstay of those looking to mix some excitement with leisure time

We are continually amazed by the number of guests at our Vacation Home Rental that comment in our guest book about the beauty of nature that they found themselves enjoying. Watching herons wading, ospreys soaring and diving for fish, ducks and swans visiting the shoreline, fish jumping, and a bounty of crabs for the picking. All topped off by a gorgeous sunset.

We like to use the metaphor of - "Remember summers at your grandmother's cottage - down those long dusty roads that never seemed to change" - Welcome once again to Cobb Island. A place where most folks leave their homes open, and mark time by the Volunteer Fire Department's siren blowing everyday at noon. Getting into an "Island" mentality of not going to the mainland unless absolutely necessary and having neighbors that will lend and borrow without a second thought becomes the order of the day. You have arrived at our "community" on Cobb Island.

Dear Ed...wish I had allowed myself enough time to write more in the guest book...I could have written PAGES! What a wonderful time I had with my "main squeeze" , son , daughter, son-in-law , and granddaughter . Every morning I was up with the sunrise and a cup of coffee at the end of the pier taking in all the beauty..a dream realized. My daughter and son-in-law ended up driving two cars down so my son-in-law could fit the telescope in (as all the baby's paraphernalia took up one car!) and the stars were amazing! My son-in-law has a computer program, which we brought out to the dock on more than one night along with the telescope and identified all the constellations as they appeared...knowing when to watch for Jupiter to rise...the Milky Way was incredible! I have traveled extensively (former Pan Am stewardess...back in the dark ages) and have seen both the northern lights and the southern cross, but nothing compared to the Cobb Island starry nights with my family. My daughter tried fishing...but found out from a man fishing off the neighbor's pier that blood worms were the bait of choice and she was using night crawlers. My son did catch a perch, however, with his bare hands!!! Little did we know we had a noodler in the family! We didn't catch any crabs...maybe Irene was the cause of that! We did have many laughing gulls...cracking me up every time they called out! The big surprise was the stingray which hung out for two days - kids went swimming anyway. I could go on and on but most of all...
Thanks again for making your wonderful home a home for us to say good bye to the summer.

The feeling of walking into our own place was fantastic. It was homey, cozy, clean and well equipped! I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so I especially loved the well equipped kitchen. The layout and furnishings were perfect for our family! We spend a lot of our time outdoors and on the water, so the dock and water access was perfect for our family!
We enjoyed our vaction and plan to come back, as well as would recommend this place to friends and family!

Every year, my mother takes us all on vacation, my brother, sister, and I and our families. Since my father passed away, these times together have become more important to all of us. Each year we look forward to the trip, but always hope that we will find "the vacation spot". The place that makes us all happy, adults and kids alike. I think we found that place in your house. After a tumoltuous year and a half long divorce, the papers were finally signed on the 18th. So the timing was perfect for my part of the family. Every thing about the house was perfect. It was just the right amount of time away, the right amount of house, and the right amount of fun. We spent our days on the river swimming and Kayaking and our evenings watching the river and the stars. The kids enjoyed hanging out in the living room and the adults relaxed in the spacious kitchen and caught up. There was no stress of making sure we saw everything, because everything to see was right in the backyard. We were all able to kick back and relax, just like you should on vacation. The house was beautiful and far exceded our expectations. We've done this enough to know that pictures don't always tell the truth. But yours were exact. Thank you so very much for sharing your home with us to enjoy. I am hoping we will be back again.

What we especially liked about your Cobb Island house was: being on the water, fishing, kayaking, biking, catching lightning bugs watching the fireworks on our 1st evening on the porch. If we were not in the water swimming, picking up sea glass, sea shells, fishing or trying to catch a crab we were on the porch. Star gazing at night was also a bonus! We so enjoyed your home! Ernie and Marty were very friendly and shared zucchini from their garden. The kayaks were wonderful to have and be able to get on the water. Good view of the osprey nest in the pine tree and different posts along the waterway. Our daughter brought her bike with a tag along for our grand-daughter. We had some wonderful bike rides. My legs today are a little sore. Your bikes were another wonderful addition. We look forward to our future visit with our children and grand-children. The one thing we did not like was - Having to leave!!!
