“Weekend Getaway”

Reviewed 12 Dec 2016

My friends and I booked the cabin for a weekend retreat to get away from the city and find some peace and relaxation. The weekend was exactly what we were hoping for, and the cabin was the perfect setting. It's a beautiful building, very rustic and homey with tons of space. The surrounding lake and wood was beautiful in the snow and ice of December and made for a quiet and peaceful walking landscape. My friends and I all agree that we'd love to go back! Highly recommend.

“Wonderful Property - well worth it!”

Reviewed 12 May 2016

I stayed for a weekend in the Spring. Beautiful cabin. Well kept. Lots of great scenery and wildlife. Quiet and relaxing. Everything is provided for you! It was a fabulous stay and the Powells maintained fantastic communication including instructions provided at the cabin in several locations. Lots of great spaces to spread out with a larger group. SO worth it! I can't wait to go back in the fall!

“Memorable Family Getaway”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2015

The cabin was in great shape and ready to enjoy. The location is perfect. Between the all the u-pick produce farms, beachfront and nearby lakefront cities this cabin provided many family memories. We brought our three kids ages 4, almost 2 and a 7 month old. We were a little apprehensive that the cabin might provide some small person challenges but between the excellent condition of the cabin, and some well thought out accommodations those issues were soon put to rest. For example, there were 2 gates (we also brought one just in case), and a high chair. This proved to add safety reassurance for us parents. Between books and some family friendly games we spent the majority of out "down time" interacting with each other. The cabin is well suited for personal time (as there are quiet nooks) and family gathering time. The trails around the cabin are well mowed providing great hiking for kids, not too long but not too short either. Each day we explored another part of the 15 acres. A small toddler sized play set provided a chance for my oldest to teach my middle how to climb up the side and slide down. There was a fire grill perfect for my s'mores eaters. The biggest winner in the activities was of course the rowboat. My oldest son started the week being afraid of going in the rowboat. By the end he was asking everyday if we could go out again. Safety vests were available in many sizes to accommodate big and little "kids". On the outside there are a number of unobtrusive solar lights that illuminate the deck and around the outside of the cabin and did not interfere with the view of the stars. There were also night lights that illuminated key safety areas on the inside. This made it very easy to walk around the cabin at night without having to find a light switch. Within a 15 minute drive there are blueberry and peach picking farms, world class chocolates, a dinosaur statue park, and beautiful beaches. In nearby St Joseph there are 2 kid museums, an old time carousel and of course an expansive beach. In South Haven, we found gift shops, bakeries, fudge and ice cream and again a beach. If you're looking to do a farm, beach, cabin vacation with some focused family themes you really can't go wrong. The cabin not only provided a convenient resting place as perhaps a hotel/condo option can but provided the perfect backdrop and added to the character of our family experience.

“Great family vacation.”

It was a great set up for our extended family. Very spacious with plenty of room to spread out. Having the washer and dryer on hand made the trip back home less daunting.

“Miss it already.”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2015

Returned home yesterday and miss the place already. Three levels and very clean. Three adults and three children had a wonderful time! Kitchen is stocked. Very quiet except the birds and frogs which was very relaxing. Pond had moss but easy to boat to Lake Harris and beautiful water lilies. Highly recommend.

“A-MAZING”

Could not have asked for a better home away from home. The property is completely secluded while being comfortably nested in the woods. It has a grill as well as a fire pit that we used at every chance we got. The house is about a ten minute drive to a grocery store as well as the beach. Landlord was incredibly helpful and readily available as well. House is stocked with everything you could possibly want. HIGHLY recommend this vacation home

“Some nice upgrades”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2015

We were excited to return to the log home this past January for a weekend of cross country skiing and relaxing. The owners have made some fine upgrades to the log home including new beds and updated televisions. This made our annual visit even better. You can't go wrong with this place. You feel like you are nestled away from everything yet in reality the log home is only a few minutes from restaurants and entertainment. So thankful we landed upon this home a few years back. It is the trip our family looks most forward to every year.

“Nice place”

It is a beautiful cottage. Loved it! Kitchen fully equipped, just bring a sharp knife ;). We definitely will be back in summer! Wifi would be a nice feature.

“Peace and Tranquility”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2014

Where do I start? We stayed here for 4 nights and found it difficult to leave to "cruise" the area. The cabin inside is rustic but luxurious. Very comfy with everything we needed. But, if you want to breakfast with the bunnies and dine with the deer, love nature and all it's splendor, the outside deck is where you will want to be. We spent long, relaxing hours just looking and taking in the landscape. Very close to highway but so far out in the country! Close to Saugatuck/Douglas, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Lake Michigan beaches and everything else you may want to go. Thanks to the Miller's for such a lovely escape.

Owner's reply: Thanks for staying with us, it was a pleasure having you. I think you meant to say thanks to the Powells and not the Millers but thank you again for your warm review. Please visit us again anytime! Regards, The Powells

“A Perfect Family Vacation Get-Away”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2014

We highly recommend this property for a relaxing Michigan get-away! The beautiful home has every amenity we needed and is located in a quiet and serene location. The trails and pond on the property were a hit with our 10, 9 and 4 year-old children and we visited Hagar Beach (3 miles) daily. Great day trips to South Haven, Holland and the Glad Peach Festival in Coloma. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!!

An amazing family winter retreat.

My wife and I rented this cabin as a Christmas present for our nieces & nephews. The children in our family range in ages from 5 months to 9 years of age (6 total), and they love to get together. This cabin trip was without a doubt the best x-mas gift we've ever given. The kids had an absolute BLAST. We spent the bulk of the time playing outside in the snow (snowball fights, snow forts, snow men, and sledding on a little hill on the north side of the property). The rest of the time was spent inside warming up over some hot chocolate, playing games, reading books, and a nighttime movie before bed. The cabin was cozy and beautiful. The look on the kid's faces when they walked in was priceless..... lots of "WOW"s and "HOLY COW"s and "HOW'd THEY MAKE THIS"?..... An AMAZING TRIP, thank you so much for the opportunity to make great family memories! We try to pick a different place every year for this trip.... but it is going to be difficult to find any place better.... we will be back!
