It is located 10 min North from Woodland Park. Make this beautiful retreat your base for exploring Sedalia, Deckers, Woodland Park, Cripple Creek, Manitou Springs and Historic Old Colorado City and Colorado Springs attractions. We will be happy to provide you tips on enjoying local attractions.
Settle into quiet relaxation or take off to enjoy the forest, the mountains and the lake, hiking trails, and prolific wildlife. Have a picnic on the lake or in the forest: somehow, food always tastes better outdoors.
There is a meditation bench in the backyard on the border with Pike National forest. Take a book or just enjoy the nature, peace and quiet, or watch the stars right above you in the night: they seem to be so close here. You lie on the deck at night and marvel at stars that never seemed so bright before...
Watch beautiful sunsets from your room or one of the large decks, enjoy panoramic mountain views, relax with a glass of wine or a cup of tea, catch up on some work at the desk if you are on a working vacation.
If you enjoy fishing, Gold Medal fishing is allowed on Platte river just a few miles away! Another great fishing location is Manitou Lake. If you enjoy hiking or riding ATV there are unlimited trails right around the corner..
In winter you can go cross-country skiing from the doorstep.
In the spring, wildflowers bloom in profusion along the pass you will probably want to take down to the lake...

We stayed at the Pikes Peak Retreat for USAFA grad week. It was about an hour to the Academy, but the drive was worth the peace and quiet we returned to! The beds are super comfortable, and the kitchen had what we needed to cook--even had a crockpot! We took lots of walks around the area, enjoyed the water and wildlife across the road, and enjoyed sitting on the decks and just relaxing. This is a beautiful, well-maintained property.

Beautiful and comfortable home
August 19, 2013
Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful home. We were a little less prepared for the fact that there were only 3 beds, one in each bedroom, and ended up putting one of the kids on the couch in the living room, which worked out pretty well (the child was perfectly content with that set up). The bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room were well kept and well stocked. Opening the windows and back door (opening onto the back porch) allowed wonderful enjoyment of the cool temperatures, and the boys had a great time fishing in the pond and taking the little boat out to fish (they didn't catch anything, but enjoyed being out there and seeing all the fish jumping around in the pond). We were able to park in the garage which was very nice on rainy afternoons and evenings. There was a hiking trail not much further up the road that my husband enjoyed jogging to and along. Beautiful property, home, and area.

We had such a great time on our stay. Loved being away from it all. It was nice not having cell service and actually being able to talk and spend quality time together. Views and wild life were great

The view from the front deck was beautiful. The home was extremely comfortable and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only problem we had was locating a place to leave our garbage when we left, the local places did not want to take it even for a fee.
Review #6509307 Dream Vacation
I rented the Pikes Peak Mountain Retreat for my wife and I, our two daughters and their families. It exceeded our expectations in every way. It is in a remote and peaceful setting with breathtaking scenery, yet less than an hour's drive to the attractions around Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. My three grandsons, ages 3, 6 and 13 especially enjoyed the evening walks down to bridge across the wetlands to watch the beavers swimming in and around their lodge and dam. The home is clean, comfortable and well furnished with everything you need for a week's stay. There is enough space that we could all have our privacy when we needed it and still be together for meals and activities. The owner, Julia was very helpful and quick to respond to all questions and other communications. I can highly recommend this vacation home with a 5 star rating and would love to come back again for another stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous retreat. In all we had six adults and seven little children and there was something for everyone here. The kids loved watching movies in the loft and playing with the toys in the basement. The adults spent time playing games, talking, and sharing cooking responsibilities. We spent the week of Thanksgiving here and were a little concerned that it would be tough to make a large Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. But what a well-stocked kitchen! From cooking pies to roasting our bird, to making all the sides, we had everything we needed and more. (The state-of-the-art microwave is nearly a sentient being. Very useful!) The accommodations are luxurious. The master suite is plush and comfortable. We easily were able to arrange all of our family stuff in the room. Adjacent to the master suite is a small bedroom with teddy bears, tons of picture books and a TV/DVD unit - perfect for our twins. The master bath was huge and we enjoyed all the little touches that made it feel more like a spa - a towel heater, digital scale, rain shower head in the giant shower... The rest of the house was just as nice. Everyone had a comfortable bed to enjoy and there were 13 of us! But the nicest part was the view. As others have said, this place looks over a private lake and the pictures here don't do it justice. We enjoyed our hikes through the area. At night, the sky is breathtaking. We took the kids to the North Pole amusement park which is near the retreat. The house also offered dozens of brochures from various attractions in the area. It is a remote place so there wasn't any cell reception or internet, although the owner has let us know that they will be adding internet access soon. The proximity to nearby Woodland Park made it convenient to grab supplies, a latte, and check email when needed. If you are looking for a place to be your family's getaway, someplace peaceful and picturesque without sacrificing comfort and convenience, this is it!
I studied all the available places to stay around Colorado Springs. This one seemed to fit our family size, the place we wanted to be, and the type of place to take our family on our Colorado vacation. The pictures in the listing showed exactly how the house looked when we got there. Built in the side of a mountain. The written description doesn't include the fact that the basement is totally a kids room, including games, play house tents, fuseball, and air hockey tables. Our kids utilized this game room and left the adults enjoying each other a share of the time. The place was spotlessly clean, the cupboards were fully stocked with dishes, appliances, etc. We were totally satisfied. We were near so much to do. We went horseback riding thru Garden of the Gods, drove up Pikes Peak, also rode the train, Threw snowballs at each other.(It snowed the day we rode the train) We went to the North Pole, Colorado isn't a swimming area, but we did find a campground in Woodland Park, just beyond walmart, with a nice pool, and allowed swimming for 4.00 per person. Also, the most utilized was Platte River. It has spots you can play in the water, but the most fun is tubing. It is a shallow, clean, fast moving river, we bought tubes and found the public spots where you can go into the river and go tubing. We went on 3 different days. You can buy tubes for 2-3 people, and I recommend these for people with small kids. Every morning, I am an early riser, so I made coffee, and sat by the window. There were deer right in the front yard. One morning I saw a deer with 2 fawns. You have to cross a bridge to get to the house, and we noticed a beaver dam, so around dusk we walked down there, and the beavers were very busy eating, and playing, and working. They didn't seem to mind us watching. A few miles from the house, we saw a herd of elk (around 20) strolling across the road. If you are in to wildlife, this is the place to be. We are. I would recommend this to anyone. It was a wonderful vacation. I contacted the owner many times before we went, she was very patient, gave us total directions from both Denver airport, and Colorado Springs. Cordially, Nancy from Ohio
We had a fantastic time. Your place and the views were awesome. Our stay was really a joy and our reunion with our friends from Texas was wonderful. It was a great location too. The cabin was clean and well equipped and waking up to the sunrise over the mountains with a cup of morning coffee on the large deck was a highlight and a great way to begin the day. I can't think of anything they could do to make it better. It was so nice after long days of exploring the area to come "home" and put our feet up and just relax by the fire. We loved spending our evenings sitting on the deck watching the wildlife (chipmonks, squirrels, deer, and many various types of birds). We will definitely be back! I'm going to refer a couple of friends who come to Colorado every year. Thank you again. Our boys loved it as well!
We really enjoyed staying at the retreat. It was very cozy and comfortable. Loved the pellet fireplace, the loft, the conveniences of home. TV, movies, fridge, stove etc all made our stay so nice and easy. The beds were really comfortable and the location couldn't have been nicer. We heard the stream gurgling nearby. On our first day there we rented 4 wheelers and drove up the street to the lake where we really enjoyed the most amazing scenery. Even though I'd never ridden them before, it was really fun. We went up some pretty trails to get as high as we could. It seemed we were in the clouds. Fantastic! We did some gambling in Cripple Creek which is really fun, and won. I think I've found my new gambling spot since the casino's are all non-smoking. We did some shopping in Woodland Park, bought some lovely artwork. Then hiking at Mueller State Park. We ate at the Swiss Chalet and loved it there. The cabin was clean and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying there to anyone.
We had a wonderful time with the family at the Retreat House. The house is close to a private lake, and we enjoyed daily walks around it every morning. One time we sat and observed a beaver building a dam. The children absolutely enjoyed all the wildlife present around the property. In the evenings we usually would sit on the deck and watching the sunset behind the mountains. The house is easily accessible and we had no problems finding it. However, we rarely came in contact with others in this wooded retreat. The house is modern and clean with pleasant natural interior. This is first time we slept in a king size log bed, a real treat! Each day we went to Woodland Park or Colorado Springs. We strongly recommend visiting Fossil Beds National Monument and Air Force Academy. We are planning on visiting this area again next year, and will definitely stay at the same house since we felt really relaxed and know what to expect.
Dear Julia: We had a lovely few days in your cabin. We loved it's location, being off the beaten track and surrounded by beautiful views, places to run and walk. We had great fun visitng the Gold Mine in Cripple Creek, going on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, scrambling over over-sized rocks in the Garden of the Gods. The children were really happy and we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. Thank you for making us so welcome and for advising us that our deposit is on it's way back to us! With best wishes L&R
We truly enjoyed our recent stay at your rental property and it was all we could have hoped for (except for NO snow). It was a great, roomy and super convenient stay. We took daily trips to Breckenridge, Fairplay, and of course went into Woodland Park almost daily. Last year we stayed at a rental in Sherwood Forest and hopefully next year, your unit will be available again!
Thanks for the lovely visit. We really enjoyed our stay at the Pine Lake Retreat. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. Beautiful 270 degree panorama view of the mountains right from the deck was incredible!
We enjoyed fishing: Manitou Lake and Rampart Reservoir in Woodland Park are both nice mountain fishing locations.
We saw a lot of wildlife too!
