“Great cabin experience”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2016

This was a last minute booking and we were very pleased with this rustic cabin. The kitchen was well equipped and there was ample towels and bedding. The log fire was great and kept us plenty warm. Deer came by in the morning which was s treat. The only thing which can be improved on is the wifi connectivity as most of our stay it wasn't working or was working extremely slowly.

“Cather springs ranch”

My family and I were on a two week road trip from ottawa, Canada. Our destination was Colorado because my youngest son's favorite hockey team is the Colorado Avalanche. We wanted him to see all that Colorado had to offer. Well we struck gold when we arrived at the cabin in the forest. It was just as it appeared on the website. A quintessential oasis in the midst of trees and mountains with no human life other than our family of five. It was a 20 to 25 mins drive up a dirt road that hugs steep cliffs - an all wheel drive is the way to go- that brings you to your home away from home. You could easily do day trips from the cabin, however we were there for only 3 nights so we brought everything we needed in food so we could just enjoy... Our children are 15, 14 and 12 years old. They fished in the pond on the property and my oldest boy was lucky enough to catch one ( and release). The hummingbirds were mesmerizing at the feeder on the deck. We played a family game of home free around the cabin and spent hours in the sunroom playing family board games that were made available in th cabin. We also took advantage of the Broadmoor Stables that were on the mountain. A highlight of the trip. The people were so friendly and Kalie was a wonderful guide. It was the first time my children had ever gone on a trail ride ( many years for my husband and I). We went through the mountains and forest and the little rain that fell made it all the more authentic. My daughter wears the necklace she bought with some of her horses hair ( moose) encased in it proudly. The weather was lovely - sunny in the mornings with some cloud and rain in the afternoons ( did not damper the experience at all!). The cottage was clean and cozy. Thank you to Maryann and Hugh for sharing their cottage so that we could make memories that will last a lifetime.

“Perfect rustic mountain getaway”

If you are looking for quiet, secluded and rustic but with all modern conveniences this is your spot. We stayed 4 nights with our daughter and son in law and enjoyed the relaxing in the quiet fresh air. Hiking and fishing were on property as well as many recreational activities near by. We spend the evenings grilling on the deck and the mornings in the sunporch drinking coffee and watching deer at the salt lick. Not your place if you plan on running non stop to Colorado Springs spots - takes about 3) minutes on a largely dirt road to get into CO Springs. But great if you want to do a combo of mountain relaxing and some in town activities. Mary Ann and Hugh were a phone call away for any issues ( there were none) . Our only recommendation would be not to use a lower profile vehicle on the rough driveway.

Owner's reply: Our guests have proven to be lovely people who value and appreciate nature and its beauty as we do. Thank you to all who have stayed with us. We feel honored and fortunate to be able to share this wilderness treasure.

We thought the cabin was great and it was in a beautiful setting. Hiking from the cabin was great too! There were 6 of us and one bathroom. I thought that would be a problem but there was plenty of counter space for all of us and was just fine. The hummingbirds were a treat and so fun to watch. We also had a deer that came by morning and evening to eat in the meadow and that was fun. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay.

Owner's reply: It is such a pleasure for us that our guests take in the simple joys of a mountain cabin with unbridled enthusiasm. That's what it's all about!
