About Estes Park

Estes Park, located in northwest Colorado, is a gem at the eastern base of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Once a summer destination, the area has grown into a year-round place to enjoy nature and the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Take in breathtaking views from one of the many Estes Park vacation rentals during your stay.

Things to Do

Estes Park is a natural playground. Visitors enjoy biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, snowshoeing, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and wildlife safari tours. One of the most popular activities is learning how to fly fish in one of its crystal clear rivers.

Those who enjoy heights will love trying a zipline course, tackling the Open Air Adventure Park,  or taking the aerial tramway to the summit of Prospect Mountain. From the view finders at the observation platform, enjoy the panoramic view of Longs Peak, the ranges of the Continental Divide, Estes Park Village, and Rocky Mountain National Park. There's also a gift shop and coffee-house. Hiking in the area is family friendly.

Beer is a large draw in this town, and you'll find that many of the breweries in Colorado offer a European-style beer garden-type atmosphere where a pint is enjoyed in a family friendly spot. Estes Park relishes its handcrafted brews and wines. Its wineries offer all sorts of wines from Riesling to Cabernet and Merlot to Chardonnay. Some of the wineries offer tours and tastings by appointment. Snow Peaks Winery even has a family-friendly tasting room and offers children their own juice tasting. You can also skip the tasting and simply buy some of these beverages to enjoy from the comforts of Estes Park vacation rentals.

While most people arrive by car, once you're there, you can use the free shuttle system. With the downtown trolley and five town shuttle routes, you can leave the driving and navigating to someone else. The Rocky Mountain National Park hiker shuttle operates from May through early October. Park entry fees do apply. Purchase park passes at the Rocky Mountain National Park Visitor Center and entrance stations. If you have a car, make sure to take a scenic drive on the highest continually paved highway in the United States, the Trail Ridge Highway. It’s located within the Rocky Mountain National Park, too.
