“It's island time”

Reviewed 20 May 2016

I put together a bachelor party for a friend of mine. We stayed at a little house off Pelican dr. Upon arrival, I was worried about space. It seemed like such a small home, how could we fit 12 guests? However, once Mike (the man who gave us keys) showed us around, I felt very different. We had plenty of space upstairs, as well as 2 very private rooms downstairs. Plenty of porch space, and slot every room had access to it. There were 2 full kitchens and 2 full bathrooms, in addition to a washer, dryer, 2 grills, a half bath, and an interior design that had a very "cozy" feel. Amazing. Not only was the home splendid, but the man who gave us keys, (Mike) was super nice. He was friendly, understanding, and very helpful! He gave us a detailed tour of the home and showed us all the ropes. What's more, he also told us all about the Island, what to see, what to avoid, and what to expect. We had a fantastic weekend, thanks to Tradewinds and their "It's Island Time" property. The groom had a blast, and so did all of his guests. And the best part is, I got all the credit, because of Tradewinds.

“Nice place to enjoy a vacation!!!”

Nice beach, great food, and all easily accessible to this location. Doc's Seafood Restaurant was great, as was Castaway Grill in Port Aransas. Also, Captain Len's Guide Service picked us up right behind the house, off our back deck, and took us on a great fishing trip on Father's Day morning as the sun was coming up. Caught some nice specs and reds. Had a great time! Captain Len really tries hard to make it happen! We had a very nice Father's Day and didn't even have to clean the fish. We ate at Doc's that night and had a very nice meal. The food was great. The next day was my wife's birthday. We spent the day on the beach, then went out to Castaway's Bar and Grill in Port Aransas. The food was very good too. I had grilled snapper and shrimp. My wife had the ribeye and grilled shrimp. It was all very tasty. We also had pina coladas served in pineapple shells. She loved them. Maybe a little too much. Good thing I was driving! But still it was a very easy drive back to our vacation home. That's always good after a couple of good drinks. lol. They also gave my wife a piece of key lime pie for her birthday. I never liked key lime pie before, but this stuff was delicious! My wife shared it with me. The next day we took a picnic lunch and went to North Beach. Also went to the Aquarium. Another very enjoyable day. When we got home my wife fried up some of the fish that we caught on our fishing trip. We had enough fish to eat for two days and still had fish to take home. So we had a great time and would like to thank the McArthurs and Vacation Home Rentals for renting to us a very nice place to enjoy a vacation from!

“Enjoyed our stay”

We had to take a trip to Texas to attend funeral services and needed a place for 7 people and pets. This worked perfect for us and we actually saved money over motel costs. The three level condo allowed some privacy and the kids loved being able to step out of their bedroom to fish.

Owner's reply: Glad you chose to stay with us Barry and Family!

The rental was last minute but was a very smooth agreement. The place was spacious for all 8 adults and 1 child. The only thing was that the bed in the master room is a bit squeaky and the grill had no gas. Other than that the stay was a great experience.

“Lady Riders 2013”

Reviewed 29 May 2013

We made it in Friday afternoon, thru the San Antonio storms--on bikes! It was a welcoming sight, indeed! The pictures don't do the house justice. We had 8 ladies and still had room for 2 more, if we chose! The gas station is easily accessible, the beach is 2 blocks away! The bridge to get off the island is difficult on the Sunday of a holiday, but all other days served no problems for us. The only complaint is the eyes of the stove top need to be replaced. Other than that, this place is a dream! We are already booking for next year! Derek didn't make us pay a hefty deposit and that made us wanna go back! Ladies usually get take advantage of, but Derek seems to genuinely care!

“Great place for family time!”

We met up with some family members from Austin to celebrate my little niece's Birthday and the place was beyond our expectation. The pictures doesn't do it's justice! It's a beautiful new home. We had such a great time there that we want to come back for a family reunion and rent both units next time. Description of the rental house. It's a 3 story house that's divided into 2 units. If you have a big party, you can rent both units and be right next to each other. There's a covered parking for 1 car per unit and the other cars can park in the driveway. The 2 rooms on the 1st floor open into the backyard where you will see the water canal that runs through. The 2nd floor is the kitchen and living room with a balcony. The 3rd floor is where the 3rd bedroom is and also has a balcony. Washer/dryer is on the 1st floor so bring detergent if you want to wash clothes. Kitchen has everything you need to cook but you'll need to bring your own cooking seasoning such including oil to fry. Beach: The beach is only 3 minutes away but you'll have to buy a parking pass which cost $12. It is a nice beach, pretty clean. The first day, we stayed near the entrance and we saw a whole bunch of live shells which were really cool for the kids. As the wave washes away the sand, the shells would wiggled to bury themselves, it was so much fun to watch. My kids had a blast playing on the sand and finding shells. The water is nice and is much clearer then Galveston water. You'll sure to have a great time here!

“Great Place to Stay!!!”

This place was perfect for our group of 9. It was very nice and clean. Loved how it had 3 levels. Came with everything that you would need to cook with in the full size kitchen. The fishing out back was great and one of our favorite things to do at night when the sun was setting. Very close to Bob Hall Pier and the beach. The best vacation that we have ever been on.
