Quoted Price is for two guests.

Originally an 1895 boarding house in the gold mining camp of Kiddville (long ago abandoned), the house was remodeled and turned into a private home/ranch in the 1930's. In 2007, the home was again remodeled and modernized. The original assay office, caretakers quarters, barn/corral, and cabins are yet on the 38 privately owned acres, 8 miles NW of Custer, SD on six miles of well maintained gravel road. This home offers unbelievable solitude.

Visitors have unlimited access to 5 of the 38 private acres, and the house yard adjoins the public Black Hills National Forest. The area abounds with wildlife--deer, elk, turkeys, squirrels, birds,... The setting is very private for there are no other inhabited dwellings on the 38 acres!

Rates are for two guests $145/night during high season May-October. Additional charge of $30 per person per night beyond two guests.

Lodging tax is 6%

STURGIS RALLY RATES are $165/night Aug 4-14 for two guests. Additional charge of $20 per guests/night beyond two guests.

Pets are no charge. Pet owner is responsible for any damages.

CLOSED NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL due to snow.

The three bedrooms are on the second floor with the full bath. The main floor hosts the living room, kitchen, dining room, laundry area, porch, and small sun room. Upon request, a queen air bed can be provided on the main floor near the dining room.

Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, the third bedroom has two twin beds.

The Vacation Home is a modest, clean, friendly, down to earth ranch house, in an unbelievably beautiful, remote location. Enjoy the clean smell of pine, absence of human noises, and the sight of the stars with no street lights!

Beds: 2 Queen Beds, 2 Twin Beds

“Amazing”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2016

Why would you want to stay anywhere else?! This place was AMAZING! We found it difficult to pull ourselves away in the morning to explore other places. And we couldn't wait to get back. So relaxing and interesting. Can't wait to go back!

“Loved this vacation home.”

I so enjoyed staying in your house. it was so cozy just like grandmas house. We took our shih tzu's and they have never been on vacation. they loved it there with all the room to run and play. We so loved the seclusion... Kay and her husband were so sweet. And very hospitable. We would stay again!! I can say nothing wrong about the place.

“Winter in May, and still a marvelous experience!”

Reviewed 31 May 2015

The Kiddville Ranch was a very intriguing place to stay with its well preserved and documented history right on the property. The house itself has been well modernized, and though feels like an old farm house was very comfortably furnished, and provided well for a relaxing place to stay. The extra land is fun to explore, and peeking in the old mining buildings was a fun journey back in time. The hosts made a point to meet us, and to provide for all of our needs, but the house was definitely ours for the entire week, and tucked well into the Black HIlls it is definitely a spot for a private retreat and get-away. We would highly recommend it. My wife and I brought our two kids, and dog, and met our two childless friends for an entire week. It met all of our needs and made for great memories. Thanks!

“GREAT PRIVATE GET AWAY”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2014

This private ranch was a great place to stay and unwind away from all of the tourists. There were many deer on the property and llamas as well on the front entrance area. We explored the back of the property that was nestled up to the Black Hills Forest and the greatest aspect was that it was so close to all the attractions but yet away from everything for peace & quiet. The owners of the property were all wonderful and one stopped by just to say hello while we were on our stay. The price to stay there was comparable to staying in area hotels not of the greatest quality except we had acres all to ourselves and an entire home to enjoy, which is well kept and maintained. We highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to the area. We will definitely stay there again when we go back to do all of the other things we did not get to do this time.

“favorite vacation!”

We absolutely loved this rental. The property is beautiful and saw wildlife EVERYDAY. It's close to so many different places of interest and there is a lot to see. It was pet and kid friendly. Rustic and private is what we really loved. The owners are awesome! Would defiantly stay here again.

“2014 Memorial weekend getaway”

Reviewed 28 May 2014

This location was an incredible place to stay. It was tucked out of the way for plenty of privacy and quiet evenings, had plenty of open space for our dogs to run around, and allowed for easy access to all the activities in nearby areas (e.g. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Caverns, Mammoth Site, etc.). There is plenty of history about the place. You can read about it and see how it connects to the history of the surrounding areas.

“Great quiet place to stay centrally located”

Reviewed 25 May 2014

This place was a great place to stay. The house has alot of history to it. We enjoyed staying here and walking the property and learning about the house and it's surrounding. It is conveniently located to Crazy Horse Memorial and Mt Rushmore. If you want to see all the nearby sites and then turn in to a quiet relaxing place this is it.

“Best vacation home!!!”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2013

This has been by far the best vacation home we have ever stayed at. It is very private with great views. During our stay, we were able to see deer, wild turkeys, and even caught a glimpse of a wild cat. We will definitely be returning here for our nest vacation to Custer.

“Wonderful place to stay”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2013

We stayed at the Kiddville home for 4 nights. Our biggest regret is that we didn't make our reservation for a full week. Close to attractions and a private setting with hiking right outside your door. The historical buildings on the property are in remarkably good condition. The views were incredible while relaxing outside after a day of sightseeing. I rarely write a review for the places we have stayed, but I felt this one was special.

“Lovely setting in a lively area”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2012

My parents, two sons, husband, dog and I had a lovely stay at this historic property. It was close to Crazy Horse, Custer, Custer State Park, and many other places we enjoyed visiting.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

My grandparents homesteaded this property in the 1920's. It is a cherished piece of our family that we wish to share. The history is fantastic, the house comfy, and the area beautiful! Though the home is completely modernized, it carries a rare peice of history with it! Tricia-owner
