Exactly as advertised!

The cabin is just as advertised and the pictures are accurate. It appeared to be built in the 50's perhaps and the furnishing are definitely retro! That being said, everything was clean, comfortable and what we needed was provided. The cabin is very small and may be tight for a family - but then again maybe not if you don't need a lot of space. We spent most of our days out and about and it was very nice to return to the quiet seclusion of the cabin, sit outside and have an adult beverage! The office staff were very helpful and accommodating. The staff sent someone over during our stay to provide fresh towels - something we did not expect but appreciated. It was centrally located to all we wanted to see, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park as well as a lovely drive to Deadwood for the day. We also spent a day in the Badlands - a nice drive over and back. I do recommend the Sylvan Lake Lodge if you want a better than average meal. We heard reservations were recommended (turns out to be accurate) and we had the best meal of the trip. They also have a wine list - nothing real spectacular but overall the best in the area. Their menu is online! There is a bakery in downtown Custer City - right on the main street through town. We stopped there on our way home and had the best breakfast of the week. Plus they have many baked goods that looked irresistible! I absolutely recommend this place for breakfast. This cabin is a great place to stay!

We loved our stay in this beautiful cabin.

We loved our stay in the Belmont cabin. It was everything we wanted to make our stay in the Black Hills so memorable. It was spotlessly clean, well-stocked with everything we needed for linens, towels, cooking utensils, etc. and maintained so well that it felt like a time-capsule of sorts (I've never seen an oven like that before). We were also very happy with the price, as it was cheaper than the cabins in many of the campgrounds that I looked into. The details outlined on VacationHomeRentals was very accurate and the cabin was just as we expected it to be. Kari was very helpful and friendly. She certainly went above and beyond in customer service, and gave us lots of suggestions to help us narrow down the all the choices for activities. We really appreciated the peace and quiet of the cabin after our busy days of sightseeing, and Hill City is such a beautiful town. Everyone we met was friendly, hospitable, and welcoming. I would recommend reading the guest book as soon as possible when you arrive, as there are lots of tips and suggestions for activities, attractions and restaurants in the area. Some of our favourites were Custer State Park (especially climbing the rocks at the lookout on Needles Highway), the tram/alpine slide, and Bear Country USA. We didn't eat out very often (one of the beauties of having a cabin was being able to make our own meals), but on our last night we went to Desperado's and loved it! Great service, delicious food and wonderful atmosphere...the lamps are cowboy boots. Fun! All in all, we were thrilled with everything about our stay at the Belmont and would (and already have!) recommend it to anyone planning a trip to the Black Hills.

Great place for our family vacation

We stayed at The Belmont cabin in July of 2012. It was perfect for my husband and I. While we did not spend a lot of time at the cabin because there is SO MUCH to do in the Black Hills, we did enjoy coming back to our little cabin at the end of each day. It was a very hot summer, and I had some concerns about no air conditioning. I should not have worried! This cabin is surrounded by the pine trees and it cooled off every evening, just like the nice lady (Kari) at the reservation's office said it would. It was nice to have a kitchen so we could eat breakfast before taking off for the day, and for keeping food for our lunches and dinner. One night, we just got pizza and brought it back to the cabin and spent a cozy night watching movies on the TV. While this cabin is "rustic and REAL log", it has some nice modern amenities. We were very thankful for the TV! We hope to make it back again soon; if not next summer at least within another two years.
