About the area

Property is surrounded by vacant woods, and nearby farms, wineries and vineyards in a Lumpkin County rural district affectionately called "Frogtown" for the occassional evening croaking symphonies following mountain rains. The front of the home faces an estimated 180 acres of pristine vacant forested PRIVATE land. Deer and wild turkey are abundant along with the occasional visit from a resident black bear. Two creeks run through our property. One in the culvert below our road and the another larger one, a moderately strenuous hike away, at the NW corner of our property. The region hosts cyclists in search of beautiful winding mountain rides and local attractions. The Chattahoochee and Oconee National Forests are a short drive away.

“Wonderful home”

This was a great place to stay with plenty of room. We had three families of four and everyone had a nice place to sleep plus the view was wonderful!!! Highly recommend it!!!!

Owner's reply: Thank you for the kind words, we're so glad that you all enjoyed your stay!

“Spectacular!”

We rented this "cabin" to celebrate a 40th birthday party with 12 of our closest and best friends. The property couldn't have been more perfect! It is a stunning home surrounded by a spectacular view! It is a splendid spot to unwind and enjoy nature. We even enjoyed lunch and shopping in Dahlonega's quaint downtown. Wish we had more time so that we could have visited wineries around the area. The owners are phenomenal to work with as well. We greatly appreciate all they did for us! Looking forward to renting this home again in the future.

“As good as described”

A large family gathering during a very hot period in the north Georgia mountains was comfortable and totally enjoyable. Plenty of room for little ones to run, and big ones to sit. Great kitchen, we cooked 3x each day. Easy to rest, enjoy, and travel to the near by tourist destinations. We would do it again, very much a great value.

“Beautiful Home”

We loved our stay at Monarch Lodge. - Great location by the river - Close to the wineries in N. Ga - Great group space I would reccomend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway! Note that someone lives full time above the garage but they were no bother at all to us. Great experience!

Owner's reply: No living space above our garage. Must have properties confused.

“Carson's Run.”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2013

We enjoyed our stay. We were there for my daughter's wedding. There was pleanty of room for my entire family and there was also opportunity for us to escape into our own individual family units when needed. The heat did go off on Friday night and it was extremely cold, but that could have been operator error. Perhaps written instructions would be helpful. Overall, a good time.

Owner's reply: Trip Advisor is apparently all messed up. We are not Carson's Run.

“Beautiful view”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2012

The home was large and had a beautiful view. Close to vineyards and winding roads through the mountains. I felt a little trapped being so far from anything, but maybe because I was there an entire week. If I had stayed only 3-4 days I think it would have been fine, but if you like being away from the hustle, this is the place for you. The only real cons were the house felt like it had been closed up for a while when we arrived so I had to re-wash linens and towels and let it air out. The other was that the out door seating consisted of fold up chairs and I would have expected nicer outdoor accomodations considering where we were and the large outdoor decking.

Owner's reply: Can't quite undertand why the house felt closed up since previous guests were there the previous weekend. But perception is everything. As for the furniture, yes. Older furniture deteriorated and was discarded. New outdoor deck furniture expected by mid to late November.

“Amazing!”

This cabin had everything you would need plus more! It was beautiful! I didn't want to leave! There was plenty of room for everyone and plenty of bathrooms for getting ready in the morning! The kitchen was every woman's dream, with lots of space! The view from the deck was breathtaking with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Such a nice place there was no need to leave, but it was convieniently located to wineries and downtown. Everyone wants to go back!
