“old bear lodge”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2015

Our stay was wonderful, very quiet and peaceful. Lots of running room for our dogs. Anita was was so gracious to get us in at short notice. The cabin was very rustic and quaint and we loved sitting out on the screened porch in the evening. The cabin is far from luxurious, but more like a quiet 40s country cabin.

Owner's reply: Better late than never. I have no idea how I missed this DIana! Glad you liked the cabin and home you and your pets will come back again soon. The Whipoorwill is back until winter and we are enjoying listening to it every evening. Best to you and yours! Anita

“Great getaway cabin”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2015

This cabin is perfect for a getaway. It feels secluded but in a convenient location at the same time. It has a beautiful cozy rustic decor. This is the second cabin we have stayed at which belongs to this owner. Very classy from the William Sonoma plates to the Polo towels. No details left undone. We saw rabbits, deer, and ate blackberries on the property. Can't wait to go back.

Owner's reply: Carole, Thank you so much and I am always thrilled that people LOVE the Old Bear Lodge. It is so unique and just looking out at the mountains in the morning and going to the river at night for a campfire or just to listen to the night sounds is such a gift. My husband and I enjoyed the place emencley! Relaxing on the porch in the sun was so nice and peaceful, just what I needed from the stress of everyday life!! At night, we enjoyed a view spirits by the awesome fire pit! We adventured to find new places to dine, we especially enjoyed the Oar House, 5 miles from the cabin. I plan to be back!!! A weekend of serenity is nature's best medicine! Thank you Anita for your hospitality and kindness! Amanda H

This cabin had everything we needed! It was adorable and had a huge deck. It is a 1 bdrm so, perfect for a couple, and is close to the wineries, which is what we went for to begin with. Also has a huge fire pit that we enjoyed. We will absolutely be going back soon!

I would recommend this cabin to anyone!! Anita, the owner, was such a pleasure to speak to and can really give you great ideas on what to do around the area. The cabin itself is very charming and very relaxing. I will be back for another stay here at this cabin, if not move here to Dahlonega for good! I would recommend a hike on the Appalachian Trail and go to Blood Mountain's hiking store and see the hostel. I would also recommend seeing Helen and Tallulah Falls, its Gorgeous!! Anita recommended Pueblos downtown Dahlonega to eat, it was delicious! All I can really say is, this is a quiet retreat and I have missed it since we have left!!
