“Peaceful stay”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2016

We really enjoyed the peace and quiet which surrounds this home and lake area. My husband is already planning our return trip next year.

“Fantastic”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2016

This is the best kept secret in the world, we loved this place the pictures do not do it justice much better than there pictures its verybig beautiful large kitchen the deck has to sliding doors to it with at least 7 chairs and andafew tables sits way above the lake what a view Its a private lake so fairly quiet The cottage came with 3 kayaks 1 row boat and a canoe with all the oars and life vests you possible use. The so called basement looks like it could be a apartment full livingroom plus 2 day beds big tv and a big full bathroom has plenty of beach towel etc. Fishing rods you name it she has it there enough pot and pans and dishes you would not believe all the stuff that the owner Susan has there. The price was great my family came to visit us and they live right there and they want to rent it on weekends. I could go on and on so please email me if you want to know anything else Iwill be back Susan my teenage grandchildren said they wished we stayed at the cottage longer instead of cedar point so we will be back and stay much longer only stayed 3 days wish it was longer Thank you Susan for allowing myfamily to rent your cottage WE WILL BE BACK

“Great week!”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2014

We had a great stay at the cottage! Susan was fantastic, and it was just what we were looking for. Quiet setting, beautiful lake, and great cottage. The canoe and kayaks were a huge plus, as was the ping pong table. We would definitely go back and highly recommend it.

“Great hideaway off the MI tourist track”

Reviewed 28 May 2014

Great house with walkout basement to a yard that butts into Fair Lake. Good outdoor seating on the main floor patio, the walkout basement patio, and in the yard around a fire pit stocked with wood. Nice kitchen with plenty of space to work and hang out. A decent base of herbs and seasonings, plus all manner of work knives, plates, and glassware made it easy to cook. Large pantry and the full-size fridge had more space than we could possibly use. Patios overlook the yard and lake. One close neighbor but they were very peaceful, forested area to the other side. The spot is off of the area's paved roads, very low traffic, which is exactly what we were looking for. Great features included access to two kayaks, and aluminum canoe, and a rowboat. Basement is stocked with life jackets, paddles and oars in great shape, as well as fishing gear. Plenty of towels and blankets. Lake was low traffic during our stay and very rejuvenating. Basement is unfinished but the wood burning stove in the center warmed up the space. Ping pong table in a large basement back room proved to be great fun, lots of paddles and balls ready to go. The laundry was also very handy. Bedrooms on the main floor are quiet and comfortable with plenty of pillow options. Room got wonderfully dark at night. One bedroom has a full bed, the other has two twins, and downstairs has two daybeds for seating in the day and more sleep space at night. There's a simple grocer (Family Fare) not too far away and we spotted a coffee shop, hardware store, and tavern there as well. Susan was sweet and very accommodating. We were looking for a last-minute weekend getaway and she was able to get us in. I'd honestly like to keep this place a secret so we could use it at our whim, but a spot like this run by good people deserves to stay booked. If you're looking for a place to stay away from the bustle of more touristy areas, this is a sweet spot.

“Happy Canadian Thanksgiving”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2013

We spent the weekend of Canadian Thanksgiving at Loon Call cottage. Susan and Patrick where great in helping us feel welcomed. The view was great, the cottage is beautiful and spacious. My husband got his 10 km run in and I got my long walk in the country. The use of the kayaks and canoe was welcomed by our teens and 20's (along with the wifi access) The kitchen had all the necessary equipment and the beds slept wonderfully. Thank you Susan and Patrick for rescuing our holiday weekend (our other cottage rental was cancelled) your cottage was a much better place to be. - Darlene

Owner's reply: So many people write us little notes of appreciation, but it does help us advertise when the renters send it to our rental ad. Thank You - Loon Call Cottage

“Great centrally located home for sightseeing”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2012

This is a great centrally located home if you want to do things in BattleCreek, Kalamazoo and Holland. We had a whirlwind trip where we didn't have time to really enjoy all the things this home has to offer. We really enjoyed our stay there anyway and would recommend it highly. We came in late one night and Susan had everything set out for us to fix a meal we had picked up on the way in and she provided a crockpot for us to fix a roast to take with us for sandwiches another day when we were out sightseeing all day. We were able to spend most of one day at the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, the grandsons loved it. We spent most of our other day in Holland touring the Dutch Village and seeing some of the coast of Lake Michigan. We still had time to attend the functions at the Gathering of the Nations in Pine Creek that we had made the trip for in the first place. It would have been so nice to have had another day to enjoy the activities provided at the cottage, like the canoe, kayak, decks and grill, etc. It is also close to the 95 acre Gilmore Car Museum that we sure wished we could have worked in but couldn't.
