Description of the Divide vacation cabin rental
Welcome to our “Cabin in the Woods” located on five rural acres in beautiful Divide, Colorado! From the moment you enter through the secure iron gate and drive down the winding driveway to the cabin the peace and tranquility of the area will settle upon you like a blanket. The gentle wind blowing through the grove of Aspens and fir trees whispers a sweet “Velkommen”!

I was born and raised in Hammerfest, Norway, known as the northernmost town in the world! There the winters were long, dark and extremely cold. The summers were short, lasting perhaps 4-6 weeks, but balmy and brightened by the Midnight Sun. After immigrating to the United States I missed the mountains and scenery of my homeland, which is why I love living in Colorado so much! The majestic views of Pikes Peak and the Rockies remind me of my childhood home.

When you enter our cabin you will notice the beautiful natural hickory hardwood floors on the main level as well as rustic décor and touches throughout. The living area has a comfortable leather recliner/rocker and sofa. There is a 46” HD flat screen TV and cable programming offered by DirecTV as well as a Blue Ray DVD player. Enjoy a cozy fire in the convenient gas fireplace.

The dining table seats six people when the extra leaf is used. Additional seating is provided by four barstools at the kitchen counter.

The kitchen is stocked with dishes, glassware, flatware, pots & pans, etc. Besides the glass top electric stove, refrigerator and dishwasher you will also find smaller appliances such as a hand mixer, waffle iron, blender, rice cooker and coffee maker.

The master bedroom is located on the main level and features a comfortable king-sized bed. There is a 40” HD flat screen TV with DVD player in this bedroom for your enjoyment.

The full bathroom on the main floor is located just outside of the master bedroom and offers a tub/shower combination, sink vanity and toilet. Just beyond the bathroom is a laundry closet where a full-sized washer and dryer are available for your convenience.

Upstairs you will find the second bedroom, which features a queen-sized bed. Also located on the upper level, the third bedroom has the capacity to sleep three people in the twin bunk beds and additional twin sized bed. The bathroom on the upper level has a shower, sink vanity and toilet.

All bedrooms are furnished with quality linens and bedding and the bathrooms are stocked with soft bath towels, hand towels and washcloths. Each bathroom has a hair dryer provided, and you will find an iron & ironing board in the laundry closet.

Outside there is a spacious wrap around deck where you can enjoy your meals “al fresco” or your morning coffee while soaking in the beauty of the natural surroundings. There is a propane grill on the deck for your use if you wish to grill your dinner.

The cabin is located on 5 acres of forestland covered with mostly Aspen trees, wild flowers and all natural vegetation and tall grasses. Grasses and wildflowers and other "natural" vegetation grow in wild profusion and provide food and shelter for the abundant wildlife in the area. We hope our guests will enjoy the cabin, the natural vegetation and forest life and setting so totally different from life in the city.

There is so much to experience and enjoy at our Cabin in the Woods! The Aspen trees on our acreage remind me so much of my childhood home in Norway. Here my wife and two children take long exciting “nature walks”. We thoroughly love exploring our own land as well as nearby national forest. Wildlife abounds everywhere. We often see deer, some accompanied by their newborn fawns. There are elk, foxes, rabbits and occasionally we might see a mother bear with her cubs! Majestic eagles soar, as well as hawks, owls, songbirds and humming birds.

In the evening as the glorious Colorado sun sets enjoy a family meal on the spacious deck. Here feel the cooling breezes of approaching evening rustling the leaves of the Aspen trees, watch families of deer come close to your private gathering, and watch hummingbirds hovering close and hear song birds serenade. Be sure to have your camera ready. You might just get pictures you will treasure for years to come.

Our children (7 and 4 years old) cavort outdoors from early till late. They catch butterflies, pick wildflowers for their mom and wonder in amazement over dragonflies, grasshoppers, caterpillars, huge tiger moths, and smaller moths and butterflies with wings of every hue. This last summer they found many bird’s nests, including a humming bird nest with the mother bird tending her tiny eggs. Many educational hours were spent spying on hatching birds, bunny babies and other wild creatures!

If you enjoy unspoiled nature, fresh mountain air, privacy and a chance to “get away from it all”, this is the place for you!
Area Information
You will be within easy distance of many attractions in and around Colorado Springs, the old historic Cripple Creek, the majestic 14.115 ft. Pikes Peak and enjoy fishing in crystal clear mountain lakes and streams. I once took the cogwheel train from Manitou Springs up to the dizzying heights of Pikes Peak, where Katharine Lee Bates in 1893 received her inspiration to write the song America the Beautiful. You can also drive to the top of the mountain for a modest fee - that is if you are not too faint of heart!

Cozy "Cabin in the Woods"

June 6, 2016

This cabin was amazing. Just out of the way for privacy, yet close enough to shopping for supplies. Loved our stay here. This was the most relaxing trip we've had in quite a while. You will not be disappointed with this cabin. Pictures and description are right on. Property manager extremely helpful during booking. Loved the deer grazing by the deck every evening. Centrally located and easy to find. This was a wonderful retreat for my husband, me and our dog. There is ample space for a family in this great cabin. Enjoyed our visit immensely and will definitely plan to stay again.
