Description of the East Wakefield vacation cabin rental
Lovely lakefront log cabin home in picturesque Wakefield, NH with 100' sandy beach, on a peaceful cove on clean 700 acre Balch Lake. Three (3) private bedrooms (all with queen beds), a downstairs 'kids kabin' with 3 daybeds with trundle beds sleeping 6 (or more if needed w/ add'l. mattresses available), 2 1/2 baths, with two propane fireplaces, an outdoor hot tub, a covered outdoor deck looking out over the lake with a Weber gas grill, & a Tiki hut on our private sandy beach.

In the summer, come and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the loons, as well as canoeing, kayaking, sailing, fishing, jet skiing, motor boating or simply swimming in the clear lake water. Our lake features a full service marina. Sit on the beach or the dock relaxing and taking in the sun, or playing bocce on the beach. A top rated golf course (Province Lake Golf course) is only 10 minutes away. In the evenings, make a fire on the beach and roast marshmallows under the starry nights!
Area Information
We are set on a quiet cove on Balch Lake, away from all the boating noise. Easy access to main part of the crystal clear lake, where there is great jet skiing, tubing, swimming and fishing. There is only 1 home close by, but our beach is very private and secluded. There are no beaches across the cove, as those homes have no beach front areas at all. So, you can feel comfortable just tanning or relaxing on the beach or the dock or floating in the lake on a tube, imbibing your favorite drink.

Once done with all the outdoor activities (be it in the sun or on the mountains), we have a wonderful 6 person outdoor hot tub that is available year round. Nothing like it after a hard day of skiing the blues or blacks on the mountains in the crisp, NH winter air or after a tough day out on the water or beach, swimming and tanning. Great way to unwind.

We are 45 minutes from the Portsmouth Circle and very easy to get to up Rte 16; just under 2 hours from downtown Boston. Once here, we have space for 5-6 cars to park down at the cabin. We also have a 2 car garage up the hill, which is used more for storage, although lots of parking there as well, if needed. We have over an acre of land on our property.

2 convenience stores 5 minutes in either direction on Rte 153. Large Hannaford's grocery store 15 minutes away in Ossipee. Poor People's Pub is a nice local bar and pretty good food as well -- 10 minutes away in downtown Wakefield. Miss Wakefield's Diner and Hen House are 10 and 5 minutes away - both serve fantastic breakfasts if you do not want to cook (great pancakes, omelettes, et al).

Other Activities: Boating, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing --- all available on our lake. Local marina allows people to bring in their own boats. We provide canoe and kayak and some flotation devices to use. Our private beach is nice and sandy and approx. 100' long. Nice and gradual slope for little children. And you can jump off our dock into the lake. We are located in a nice, tranquil cove which does not get much boat traffic, so nice and quiet. Great to just jump on a flotation device and grab some rays with a drink of your choosing (we have a refrigerator in our tiki hut on the beach). And nothing better than building a fire on the beach at night under the stars next to the water.

Golf: Province Lake -- 10 minutes away on Rte 153 North; great course in wonderful shape

Indian Mound -- 20 minutes away on Rte 16 North; nice course

Kingswood -- 25 minutes away in Wolfeboro

Ski: King Pine -- 25 minutes away; great family mountain.

Cranmore -- 50 minutes away; more challenging

Attitash -- 65 minutes away; two great peaks

Wildcat and Black Mountain -- 70 minutes

Shawnee Peak -- 75 minutes

Best family vacation ever!

July 3, 2016

My family was raised on a lake in Rochester so I was looking for a similar location for my boys to have for this vacation. We found Balch Lake even better than our home lake and the cabin was just ideal for our group of 11. The little guys 5 and 7 were endlessly entertained with all the setting had to offer and the older folks just kept repeating what a gorgeous place we had chosen. This was my first rental of a vacation home and I admit I was nervous, but you cannot go wrong with this property and setting. It was also ideally located near many of NH glorious sites and we took full advantage of trips to the Flume, Franconia Notch, Attitash Mt coaster and slides, and on the 1/2 day that it rained, Fun Spot was great for the kids. Mr. Gregorio was great to work with in setting up the rental so all and all, a spectacular vacation. I now feel like the day after Christmas however as I look forward to the next opportunity there!

This property is a nuisance in a residential neighborhood. If things don't change immediately I'm going to have to shut it down. I'm sick and tired of someone making money off of inconveniencing their neighbors and taking no responsibility for the people they bring into the neighborhood.

Owner's reply:

We were unaware one of our renters lit off fireworks and also did it so late. We will inform anyone using our home that fireworks are illegal in Wakefield. Those disobeying will not be invited back!! We certainly respect our neighbors and dislike any issues caused by those using our cabin. Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the best part about being up at the cabin?
A: Just getting away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The cabin is set in a very tranquil area. Even though we are right on the lake with our own private beach, there is little activity in our quiet cove, except for the occasional fisherman that comes in to try and catch some fish. Just sitting out on the deck in the early morning hours, listening to the birds chirp, and reading a book and having a cup of coffee/tea, while looking out over the water is my most favorite thing to do at the cabin!
Q: What makes renting our cabin so special?
A: Having the the ability to sit on our private beach and get rays during the day or building a campfire on the beach at night and making smores and singing songs or floating or swimming in the warm lake during the day or going into the hot tub at any time of the year is great.
Q: What is the coolest nearby activity?
A: If in the house, playing the video arcade game down in the basement is great. It has over 40 games that are sure to challenge anyone. If outside, going for a canoe or kayak ride on the smooth lake is both peaceful and fun. If you like to fish, there are plenty of fish. And if you are a golfer, Province Lake golf course is exactly 10 minutes away -- and a great tract.
