Description of the Eastham vacation cottage rental
If you like the scent of salt air and the sound of sea gulls, this is the cottage for you! Panoramic bay views in a great location only steps from Campground Beach. Totally renovated and re-decorated top to bottom in 2011. There isn't a stick of tired old knotty pine in this cottage. Blue Skies on the Half Shell is an updated seaside cottage with white bead-board ceilings, antique wood flooring, and an airy light blue and white color scheme. We collaborated with a national decorating magazine editor to plan the decor and used locally-made crafts and high end materials and finishes throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with all new full sized appliances. The bathroom has all new fixtures including a pedestal sink, glass shower, ceramic tile floor and stacked washer/dryer. The master bedroom has a new queen-sized pillow-top mattress, two armoires and four windows that allow lots of light and air into the room. The second bedroom has twin-size beds and two dressers. A sun-drenched outdoor shower has a spacious changing room, rain-head fixture, and a held-held sprayer to make it easy to rinse off sandy feet after a day at the beach. The screened porch is the perfect setting for long conversations over cocktails or relaxed reading. Head up to the roof deck to view spectacular sunsets over Cape Cod Bay, then gaze at the stars late into the evening.

This cottage offers all the creature comforts you want and need: AC, WiFi, expanded cable, 32" flat screen TV, DVD/CD player, MP3 connection, gas grill. After a long day of fun in the sun, you can relax in the living room recliner and dream of your next perfect day in paradise. Come experience the unique Cape charm of Blue Skies on the Half Shell...you deserve it!

$50 per week discount for bookings of 2 or more weeks. This is a Saturday to Saturday rental, however exceptions are possible in the off-season.

Area Information
The New York Times has called Eastham "Cape Cod's Little Secret." The town offers visitors a quieter and less crowded environment than some of the more well known areas of the Cape. Eastham is bounded by Cape Cod Bay to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, with these two bodies of water being only 3 miles apart. Eastham has two ocean beaches: Coast Guard Beach (consistently named one of the nation's Top 10 Beaches by The Travel Channel) and Nauset Light Beach. The red and white Nauset Lighthouse on Nauset Light Beach is said to be the most photographed site on Cape Cod. The Salt Pond Visitor's Center is the primary information center for visitors to the Cape Cod National Seashore (celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011) and the starting point for many nature trails and bicycle routes. The former Cape Cod Rail Trail is now a paved bicycle trail. It runs the length of the town while passing by picturesque salt marshes, cranberry bogs and ponds, and ends at the Visitor Center.

Cape Cod Bay offers the perfect setting for long walks on seemingly endless tidal sand bars. The water is warm and inviting right into the fall. The Wellfleet drive-in movie theater (one of few remaining in the U.S.) is only 5 minutes away, and also offers 4 indoor screens. The flea market is fun for everyone. Wellfleet is also the home of the Wellfleet Audubon Sanctuary which offers some great hiking trails. The area offers mini golf, great eats at numerous clam shacks and plenty of home made ice cream shops. Charter fishing boat excursions, whale watching, kayaking and sailing is available for those who want to be in or near the water at all times. You can tour the Truro Vineyards and sample their wines. The eclectic community of Provincetown offers many great restaurants, art galleries and shopping opportunities.

My husband and I loved our time at Blue Skies... We liked the charm of the cottage and its location: tucked amongst the trees but only a few minutes' walk to the water. The cottage was clean and the kitchen was stocked with all tools and appliances needed and then some. The front porch was delightful for time "out of the sun" and the upstairs deck perfect for watching sunsets and stars!! We will definitely be returning!

This place is perfectly located for exploring the Lower Cape, as well as for just relaxing on the Bay beach a few steps away. Although it is small, it is private, nicely decorated, very comfortable, and has a wonderful view of the water from the top deck. Although we didn't spend much time there, it was a welcome place to return to each evening.

My husband, daughter and I decided to travel to the Cape this year with my sister and her family. For weeks, I researched various rentals for our 2 families, and knew Blue Skies on the Halfshell was the perfect cottage for my family the minute I found it. Never having rented a home before, ESPECIALLY online, I was extremely apprehensive. My first few exchanges with Sue, the owner, were via email, but once I was certain we wanted the rental, I called Sue to alleviate my fears of renting online. Sue was wonderful to talk to, and I felt very confident in my decision after our conversation. Well, never did any of us expect to find such a treasure when we arrived at the cottage. The colors and furnishings were fresh, clean, and inviting. It was exactly how I would want my home to look! A cool breeze kept the house comfortable at night, and fans were provided to use during the day. From the deck we watched the sunset each evening and stargazed at night. The location was a mere steps from the bay, which we loved, and yet the property was so private! Our entire week was a blast! Take advantage of this awesome rental. It won't disappoint!

This cottage is wonderful. Everything was thought of to make our stay a comfortable one. It is adorably decorated in the Cape Cod style. The cottage is a couple steps from the beach with an ocean view from the upper deck. The National Sea Shore is about a 10 minute car ride. We stayed here with our three year old who had a wonderful time and the accommodations made for an easy vacation with a child. Everything was just as promised and more. The owners are professional and friendly. The rental transaction was flawless. We plan to return next year.

We recommend this cottage to anyone who loves the true Cape. Aside from all the local activities and attractions like the local drive-in theater and the national seashore, our kids spent hours roaming the sand flats at low tide while we relaxed on the uncrowded beach that is so close to the cottage. Family dinners together, then upstairs to the deck to watch the amazing sunsets. This cottage offers everything you need and with spectacular taste. Great location, great time! Can't wait to get back there this year! Outdoor showers are the best too!!

Location was key when my family was choosing a cottage to rent, and this one was perfect for us. My kids were able to walk to the beach unescorted because it was one minute away and they didn't have to cross any streets. Beyond that, the house itself was very clean, well-maintained, fully outfitted and creatively decorated, so it was the perfect home-away-from-home for my family of four. We can hardly wait to go back again next summer. After two visits my kids are calling it "their" house!

"What a wonderful time we had in your beautiful home!! Upon walking in, I turned to my husband and said 'This house is absolutely perfect!' We've rented other places on the Cape but nothing that captures the feeling of spending time on the Cape like your house does. Pure magic. Thanks so much for sharing. We want to come back very soon."
