Description from owner

Shhhhhear that? It's the music of the river, ever changing, always soothing. Some call it a creekMountaintown Creek. It seems more like a river, large, swift, known as one of the premier trophy trout streams in North Georgia. Rainbow's up to 8 lbs have been caught in these waters, 2 to 4 lbs. is the norm. Starting its journey near the boundary of the Cohutta Wilderness Area and eventually joining the Coosawatee River, this stream beckon's the experienced as well as the "want to be" fly fisherman from all over the north east. After an afternoon of romancing the waters, what could be better than relaxing around a campfire, enjoying your favorite beverage with great friends or that special someone? Just a few steps above these waters sits "River Spirit" the home that shares this river with those lucky enough to find it. The home was designed with beauty, relaxation and comfort in mind. Whether you're soaking in the hot tub or sharing fish tales on the spacious covered porch, the memories made here are sure to last a lifetime. The home is equipped with modern conveniences, so taking in a good movie, whipping up some marvelous meals or playing a game or two of Pool or Air Hockey down in the game room is always an option.. Retire to one of the luxurious king masters for a great nights rest and rise early to a steaming cup of coffee and the melody of a beautiful morning in the mountains! River Spirit is conveniently located in Ellijay, home of the famous Georgia Apple Festival and only 30 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge where unique shopping and fabulous dining await you!

“Snowed In”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2017

Fantastic cabin which was everything that we were looking for. Well stocked and beautifully decorated. Snowed three inches the first night--sitting in the hot tub with snow falling was pretty amazing. Beds were very comfortable with soft linens. Pool table was tons of fun. As far as the cabin and the location, I can't say enough positive things. Amazing in every way! Now to the fishing... We booked the cabin as a birthday getaway and the major draw to the area was the labeling of Mountaintown Crk as a "trophy stream." For those of you who are trout fisherman, I would say a word of caution about Mountaintown. This is a super fishy-looking stream, but in the end, falls way short of expectations. It just gets too hot in the summer to support a population of wild trout this far down in the drainage, or even hold-overs for that matter. I have fished it before (apparently right after stocking) and had some success catching larger than average stocked rainbows. The stream was reportedly stocked in October, but we spent three days dredging the bottom with nymphs and did not even spook a fish despite hiking and fishing several miles of the stream w/in the Coosawattee resort. They simply were not there. This is no fault of the cabin owner or rental agency, it's just the nature of the stream that the cabin sits on. If you are looking for a fly fishing getaway, the cabin is perfect, just make sure the stream has been recently stocked, or else go fish the headwaters or any number of fine N GA streams within striking distance ;)

“Time away”

We called Debbie 3 weeks before our stay.she and the rest of the staff worked to ensure a great stay.we took our blue heeler with us because he has always stayed in no.georgia with us every year.we had friends from Tennessee come stay and we all had a great time.the cabin had more than enough furnishings to make cooking fun.we also enjoyed the pool table,as our friends 12 yr old son played all trip.the river was a fun fishing experience for 2 old friends who don't see each other as often as we'd like.but the greatest thing were the mattresses in the bedrooms.we finally got to catch up on some sleep we both needed.whether to relax or to play, this cabin was perfect.we will be back soon.

Owner's reply: So glad you guys enjoyed your stay with us! We look forward to hearing from you on your next trip to North Georgia. Debbie Mountain Oasis Cabin Rentals
