“Wonderful New Year's Eve Stay”
We just got back a couple of days ago from our 1 week stay at this home. We enjoyed our stay at the cabin and had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration. Let me say that getting to the cabin the first time is a bit scary, especially if you are not used to the mountains like in our case, but this is only the first couple of times, then you get used to it and it's actually kind of fun. The house was very, very clean and well stocked. Walmart is very close once you are out of the gate, we bought extra supplies like paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags, I always do this based on past experiences. We couldn't explore as much as we wanted to because it was raining some of the days but we still had a great time. We enjoyed out time indoors, there were plenty of board games and the kids were just having a blast. We also had a couple of campfires at night with the noise of the rivers it was just incredible. We saw many deer and rabbits, they are everywhere, the kids were crazy about them. From the very beginning Amy was super helpful and gave me a lot of information about things to do and places to go. The whole transaction was very smooth. We had a wonderful time and I'm really glad we chose this cabin for our family vacation. I totally recommend it.
“Great Trip with Family”
First time to book and rent vacation home. Based on reviews, decided to give it a try. The process was very easy and the owner provided helpful information on the area and answered all questions quickly via email and/or telephone. The home was beautiful and had a well stocked kitchen. It was quick and easy to fix family meals. During our stay it rained most of the time but we still had some fun times on the outdoor spaces. The beds are comfortable, hot tub, whirlpool tub and other features of the home include double washer and dryer on 1st and 2nd floor. This was great when getting laundry done. Access was an issue even with our 4 wheel drive truck, the road is gravel but is fairly rough with steep grades and sharp turns. It probably would not have been such an issue but with the rainy conditions each day it was difficult to get to and from the home. Also, I would have brought extra paper products - paper towels, garbage bags and toilet paper - with a 7 day stay. Our group had some shortages of these items. With all that said, I would definitely recommend and actually have already recommended to others. The running stream, the landscape and nature made the trip lots of fun for the entire family. Enjoyed the apple orchards around Ellijay and Blue Ridge. Took a couple of day trips to Chattanooga, TN to sightsee and Helen, Ga for the Oktoberfest and it was easy traveling to and from once you got to the main road.
Staying at Abes amazing cabin was a wonderful experience. The house has a nice cabin feel and is within walking distance to big bear leak. We couldnt have been more comfortable during out stay.
We had the most relaxing time here. It is breath taking, quiet, and I can not wait to come back again. My husband and I, and 4 teenagers! Plenty enough room to spread out. Some of us stayed up all night; while others went to bed early. The owners were very wonderful as well.
“Our Fall Break”
We just got home from this cabin in CCR and it was wonderful. It was spotless and had so much room! The 2 masters are huge and I loved that each one had a porch. My boys had a great time tubing and fishing on Mountain Town Creek. The kids room in the basement is great. It has 6 bunk beds and extra linens and towels. The house also has life vests, fishing poles and tubes. We had everything we needed. Amy was great to work with also. If you have a large group and want to rent a nice cabin on the river you can't go wrong.
The house and location was perfect! We went at the end of Dec, but I think this would be a great place to stay in the summer as well. Blue Ridge is pretty close drive - cute town! The house is great! Our kids loved the downstairs which really was like a little house for them.
“Annual family vacation”
We spent a week at Trout Trap Lodge. It was great place for a large family that included very young children, teenagers, young adults and senior citizen. The children and teenages especially enjoyed the stream so close, they fished, tubed, swung from the tree swing over the stream, and amenities were wonderful. Several in our group has stated that they would like to return next year to this lodge. I would have given it a 5 star, except propane tank on the grill was empty and we could never get the ceiling fan in the familyroom to come on. Overall it was a great place for a large family.
“Awesome Place to Stay!”
We rented this cabin for a little over a week and met up with family there. Some days there were only 5 of us and other days there were 16 of us! There was definitely enough sleeping space, room, and things to do so that no one felt crowded or bored! The kids loved the rope swing! The men loved the fishing and canoeing. The women loved the peace and quiet! :) We did the nearby giant slide while we were there, FYI: book it early in your stay, they fill up fast. We also did the tubing, but tubing behind the cabin for free was just as fun! The kids liked getting to walk up the river and tube down, which was a much shorter distance and time than the 3hr tubing. We also went to see the nearby brick wall attraction on one of the mountains. It was a long hike and neat, but not something to do a second time. Oh! When we got there there had been a bad storm and there was no power, but.... there were plenty of candles! It made for an interesting first night! I would definitely book this cabin again! It'd love to see it in the winter! It is pretty well secluded and although I never did get a chance to get in the hot tub it was definitely relaxing! The owners were great to deal with and pictures honestly don't show you just how beautiful it is!!
“Great Place - Great area!”
The cabin was perfect for our family. we have 3 grown children and grand children - and we had plenty of space. The cabin was located close to rafting, tubeing, hiking and many other things to do. There are lots of places to eat-but my favorite was the porch of our cabin. we are planning to go back again.
Had an AMAZING time at this Cabin for the week we stayed. There is so much to do and still have time to relax and take in the Mountain Scenery. The river views are gorgeous. Every bedroom has a picturesque view. River tubing was awesome, and our group of 10 tubers really had a good time. Amicalola Falls is about 15-20 minutes away and well worth the 5$ per vehicle parking fee. Atlanta is about an hour and a half away, but there are plenty of things to do that it is worthy of a day trip. There are plenty of the "creature comforts" within a 10-15 min. drive to appeal to those who don't like "roughing it." The drive into the cabin, however, will make you feel like you are far away in a mountain retreat. If the smiles on everyone's face at the end of the week were any indication, we will be doing this again next year (hopefully at trout trap).
