Wonderful place!

We had great time staying in this beautiful house. The river view is fantastic, kids found lots of crabs in the river and enjoyed playing outside the house. I personally love the fine china in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking a lot. It's a perfect place to stay!

Love this place!

I have stayed at this rental property more than once and am drawn back to it each year. It is close to everything I want--shopping, sightseeing, hiking, people watching--and yet an oasis of calm after all that activity. Bar Harbor is only a short drive away; hiking in Acadia National Park has breathtaking views! The house itself is large enough for a family, but small enough to make it seem intimate. It is well cared for and CLEAN! The owner even leaves some spices and basic supplies for guests--something I haven't found everywhere. If you have never been to Maine, this is the place to go! If you have been to see Maine's beauty, try this rental--you won't be disappointed!

Owner Supplied Testimonials

"Beautiful home nestled on the Union river with a MILLION dollar view looking up and down. The home has everything you need in the kitchen and living quarters and there is plenty of room for multiple families or a large family. The house is close to Mount Desert Island and pretty much central to everything that is going on. We loved it and my family is already planning a return trip to stay here in the future!"

"This gorgeous house has lots of room for both shared and private activities. The hammock, outdoor table and grill, playground, and riverfront all invite you to spend time outside. But the house has a wealth of space, games, cooking facilities, and views to make even rainy days pleasant. We found the owner to be responsive to small issues, such as when I couldn't find some items that he had told me were in the house, and sure enough I called and he told me exactly where they were. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived. We were all delighted with the facilities: four full bathrooms, lovely spacious bedrooms, several dining areas, fans for the heat, well-stocked kitchen with lots of utensils and staples such as oil. What a great place."

"Your home is truly a gem! We had the most wonderful time. We vacation in various places throughout the U.S. and rent homes in each site, but your home is truly one of the top choices."

"This vacation home is exactly as the owner advertises! It is a beautiful, spacious home in the Maine woods, on the Union River, 2 miles from the delightful small town of Ellsworth, which has very good (and reasonably priced) restaurants. We came for a wedding on the Blue Hill peninsula, and stayed for a week. Our daughter and her husband, who live in Boston, joined us for the week. Plenty of room and bathrooms for all! Easy access to Acadia NP, and the quieter Blue Hill peninsula. Very convenient to Bangor Airport as well."

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the best activities in the area?
A: Kayak the Union River - see seals, osprey, and bald eagles along the way. Paddle two miles down the river for a treat at the food stands at the town landing.

Acadia National Park - one of the most visited national parks in the US. Great hikes and scenery. You will never tire of them.

Explore the Blue Hill and Schoodic Peninsula - lots of coastal inlets to explore with a sprinkling of beaches and coastal access for dipping your feet in.

Eat lobster !!! - I LOVE it and it is very plentiful during the summer.

Sit back and relax - the hammock out back is calling you. Watch boats pass by. Cook up a nice steak on the grill that sits on the deck. At night, pool sharks will love the high end pool table to enjoy with the company.
Q: Why makes this vacation rental special?
A: This property provides a perfect blend of a very large property with space for all, million dollar waterfront views, access to Acadia Park, and quality time to enjoy being with the people you brought along. We have been told by other renters who have looked at multiple properties in the area that ours stood out for the home being in much better condition then other rentals, having much larger space for all, and being well priced. If you live in the region or are visiting from away, we invite you to see the place for yourself.
Q: About the home.?
A: We lived in this home for 10 years before moving to Portland because of our job. We loved the home and hold onto it for our own mini vacations. Our kids grew up here. However, we can't be there all the time, so we want to share it with others.

The home is a Lindl Cedar Home with cathedral wood ceilings built in a Seattle open space style with large windows in every room looking out over the water. The property has a mix of blueberries, raspberries, and black berries based on the season.
