“Love Love Love this Place..”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2016

We spent a week here in mid September. Had the most enjoyable time. The property is far more excellent than described. The view, the comfort, the thoughtful details, the quiet peacefulness all make this a home away from home. Thank You Laurie and David.....we will return....

“Frenchman bay retreat”

This is an amazing place to stay. Quiet and tucked away from everything. My husband and I had a great time in the bay walking around and kayaking. There is a goat farm near by that is very cute, with delicious goat cheeses available to buy. Acadia national park, beautiful! Views from the porches were breathtaking and the owners of this place have left no stone unturned when it comes to making your stay comfortable and unique. The house itself is super clean and Laurie and David were very thoughtful and kind. Thank you for sharing your house with us! Adam & Lettie

“Fabulous Property”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2016

I took my mother and sister on a week long getaway to Maine and lucked out in finding Laurie and David's Frenchman's Bay Retreat. The property is immaculate and every detail is taken care of. Laurie and David are wonderful warm people and our week was a restful, calm and delighful experience. In all the cottages I have rented over the years, this was by far the most enjoyable, modern and truly restful place. I highly recommend Laurie and David's exquisite place on Frenchman Bay!

“A beautiful and peaceful haven from everyday life”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2015

My family and I had a wonderful week long stay at Frenchman's Bay Retreat! The house was just beautiful with gorgeous views from every window! We felt very relaxed and at peace in our surroundings. Everything was incredibly clean and organized at the house and the beds were quite comfortable. Laurie and David were exceptionally friendly and hospitable and we especially enjoyed the welcome basket of treats and helpful brochures which we used throughout the week. Lamoine is a great location if you really want to escape and it is also convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We would highly recommend this fabulous rental!

If your looking for the perfect retreat from urban chaos and want to really relax this is the ideal vacation house. The pictures are true and even they don't do justice to the beautiful surrounding. The owners are very attentive to every detail, right down to the welcoming basket of treats. 5 STARS all the way!!

This was the perfect location for day trips and so nice to come home to the beauty and quiet of this wonderful house. You'll be amazed at how peaceful and quiet it is. “racoon Cove rental”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2014

We've been to maine before and stayed in a hotel. We wanted to return but wanted to stay in a waterfront property. From the minute we walked in you could see that the house was taken care of. There were no photo shop images of the house, the pictures represented the house the way it was. The house was very well stocked and we had a great time knowing that after a long day out we would be returning to the house.

“Treasure on Frenchmans Bay”

Vacationing in Maine for 49 years...first time on our honeymoon and in recent years with our children and grandkids...we have finally found the most perfect vacation site...away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor but close enough for a visit plus the other amazing sites on Schoodic Pennisula and the Maine coast. The owners were exceptionally cordial and inviting. The home not only had all the essential for carefree vacationing but lots of "goodies" provided by the owners. The site is magnificant and the owners even occasionally allowed beautful animals to visit ...a doe with her fawn, a nesting Phoebe and a bald eagle!!! The gardens are charming and well-kept. We are now planning on returning there in 2015 for another family vacation. Aside from our honeymoon this was clearly our most wonderful vacation.

"We had a wonderful vacation in Maine and this beautiful house was a great part of it. Super clean, awesome views of the bay and situated in the woods. It was as close to perfect as it gets. Great location near Acadia with endless things to do. The gentleman who delivered the kayaks was very nice. Thanks and we'll be back"

"The web page was very accurate. The proprietors were awesome. They provided everything we needed and were a great source of information about the area. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. Don't miss a drive to Schoodic Point!"

"We spent a week and a half in this lovely house in its even more beautiful spot on Frenchman Bay. The description and pictures of both in the listing don't do them justice! The house seems spanking new and is spotless and well-supplied. The downstairs rooms and master bedroom provide great views and the entire house is airy and open. It was wonderful waking up to the quiet beauty of the Bay. The owners were unobtrusive but extremely pleasant and helpful, whether it involved tire repair or tourist information. While the house happily is a bit off the beaten track, it is very easy to access Acadia and Bar Harbor. We certainly would recommend this house and would return ourselves if again we visit the area."

"We spent a week in this amazing home and it exceeded my expectations in every way. Waking up to views of the bay with the breeze rolling in through the many windows and enjoying evenings on the deck were just incredible. The house has everything you'd want for a vacation home from a well stocked, brand-new, kitchen and grill to a deck with ample outdoor seating to well-kept bedrooms and bathrooms. It is very secluded and private, but it is only a short drive Ellsworth in one direction and Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in the other. The surrounding areas have something for everyone whether you're seeking amazing vistas or adventure (Acadia), shopping (Bar Harbor), or fine dining (Bar Harbor/Ellsworth). Laurie and David were very gracious hosts and made us feel at home right away. I'd highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a wonderful place to experience Maine and Acadia. I'll definitely come back."

"This was our first visit to Maine and it was better than we ever imagined. The house was amazing and very clean. There was always something to do - kayaking, beachcombing, fishing (on your "doorstep") and exploring and cycling in Acadia National Park (about 20 minutes drive away). Our only regret is that we only booked for one week instead of two weeks. We have told friends about "Frenchman Bay Retreat" and they are all asking for more details. We will be back again, only next time it will be for longer!"

"It was clear early on that the homeowners were very warm and professional with their quick email responses about the home and friendly advice. Upon arrival, the external view of the house and bay were serene and more beautiful that we even imagined! What took our breath away was everything to follow. The house was remarkable... Perfect. This spot is great for a family or a romantic getaway. You won't want to go home! Acadia is only about a 20 minute drive, one of the most magnificent spots in the US! Bar Harbour is right around the corner, with lots of shopping, good eats, and fun things to do. You can't beat the convenience of the stores and 5 star restaurants 10 minutes away! whether it's the majestic outdoors you seek or a relaxing getaway, this place is ideal. Will definitely be back."

"Perfect for Families
Laurie and Dave were perfect hosts, helpful in every way. The home was gorgous. Just as the pictures showed and house was so clean and comfortable!!! We had more than enough room to spread out, the kitchen had everything we could have possibly needed. The laundry came in very handy with our active vacation. The wildflowers and her gardens were so pretty. It is a special place in many ways. The views were amazing from every room... a true gem!!!!
Immediatley upon arrival my girls ran down to the stream, explored the ocean grass, tidal pools and found a birds nest on the ground and a crab. They were in in heaven. Kayaking was a breeze from the shores of raccon cove. We were able to see and hear many birds, including the eagles nest and explore the little beaches, granite shoreline and inlets on the cove. So fun.
Close enough to Acadia National park we would alternate between the park and staying at our home away from home on Frenchmans Bay. Bar Harbour was beautiful and we enjoyed the views, shops and resturants there.
Ellsworth was a quaint town. Resturants, groceries and shops were 15 minutes away. Finellis Pizza was outstanding!!!
Highly recommended!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!"

"Beyond Expectations
While we were excited by the photos I had to admit some concern that "it can't be that good". We were absolutely thrilled by how well the house was furnished and cleaned. I was hesitant to get the BBQ grill dirty. Everything was in great condition and beyond our expectations. Anything we could possibly need was available. The master bedroom was really special. It was neat to see the sunrise above your toes in the morning. The downstairs rooms were simpler but met the needs of our elementary age kids just great. We all loved the location and were disappointed several times to not return "home" before dark to enjoy it more. When we first arrived in the dark, I was fearful of never finding the house but the directions were just fine. This location is a perfect getaway for a couple alone or with younger children."
