“Family Vacation”

Reviewed 31 May 2016

Very nice and very well kept cabin on the "Pond". We were aware of it being on a gravel road but if you take a car (as we did) be VERY CAUTIOUS of the big rocks sticking out on the road here and there. We scraped bottom at first but then we just steered around them the best we could. The weather was WONDERFUL and the location was not bad for traveling to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The cabin was furnished very well as stated on rental info and the Chambers were very straight forward and willing to help if needed. We will definitely be back to Patten Place within the next year or two.

Owner's reply: The road in has now been graded and any low spots filled in. Sorry about that.

“"On Patten Pond"”

From beginning to end we enjoyed Patten Pond Cottage. It feels off the beaten path without being to far from anything. The cottage felt clean, comfortable and it had everything we needed for our week stay. When we first drove up, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised how large the "pond" was. More like a lake to this Florida girl. The kayaks were great to have right on the shore. My thoughts are that this cottage would fit the bill for any age group. Keep in mind that you are just steps from the water. The location is a hop, skip, and a jump to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and one of my favorite Schoodic Point. There is so much to see and do in this beautiful state. For this old married couple, we wouldn't hesitate to stay in this little cottage again. My only recommendation is to try and get there in the daytime so you get familar with the road in. If not, no worries it is doable and will be a fun adventure from the very start.

“Magnificent MAINE”

Where to start... the drive in on Cunningham Way was a delightful surprise! Very rustic, we were surprised at the first curve by a boulder that was bigger than our car! Glad we arrived in daylight as there were plenty of other dips and curves. The cottage has a very welcoming decor and an awesome view of the 330 plus acre pond. All the the appliances were of great quality and were put to good use. The bathrooms while small made optimal use of space. The fixtures were of a nice quality and the nice touches of the hosts own artwork set a nice relaxing tone. Even the placement of mirrors in the small master bath made doing my doing my hair a breeze. All the beds were very comfortable, with plenty of linens/blankets available. We enjoyed the screened porch. We made great use of the nice kayaks. The pond is beautiful and I will forever wonder who was more me or the loon who surfaced right next to the kayak! And the melodious and haunting calls of the loons! The firepit was also put to good use making smores with my granddaughters. We were in Maine for our sons wedding. All groom and his male attendants all dressed at the cottage, so many special memories were made at Patten Place. All in all the only complaint that I have was with the lack of comfortable seating in the living room area. The sofa sleeper has a broken wire and was propped up with some wood. And there is no seating where you can just kick back and put up your feet. If it had been rainy and we were stuck indoors this might have been more of an issue. And it is probably time to replace the old style TV's with flat screens since there is HD Dishnetwork. To end on a high note, it was wonderful to have needed soaps for laundry, dishwasher, bathing etc. as well as TP, tissues, paper towels, clothes pins, nite lights, throws to snuggle in on the cooler evenings. Also the distance to beautiful Acadia National Park, Bangor, Ellsworth, Bluehill and Bucksport meant easy access to groceries and great dining and outdoor activities. If you are 62 or older be sure to get your lifetime pass to National Parks and museums for only $10 and enjoy Acadia as much as possible. I highly recommend Patten Place and our hosts were very friendly, easy to reach and very caring in providing information and directions. I have no doubt, the owners with just a few tweaks will make this a ten star place to stay!

Owner's reply: Hi back Rose. So sorry to hear about the sofa issue. The only way we have of knowing about problems is from the tenants that stay there as we have a cleaning service that does not always let us know of problems. So we want you to know that as soon as we found out about it we went to a furniture store and bought a new Lancer couch and chair and it is to be delivered on Thursday. Thank you so much for letting us know and we hope to have you people as tenants again in the future.

“Couldn't have been better!”

We loved the cottage, Patten Place, on Upper Patten Pond. We received it extremely clean, well organized, and well cared for. The kitchen was so well equipped. The beds were all perfect, and were made with smooth comfortable sheets and just the right amount of blankets. Our two boys (ages 9 and 13) spent most of their time in, on, and around the lake. We cooked s'mores on the campfire, and bar-b-qued on the charcoal grill. They learned how to place croquet, and shot a few hoops. We finished off each night playing cards, and reading the camp journal with entries written by previous guests. The cottage, lake, and location were just perfect for us. The loons came by daily, and we enjoyed gorgeous sunsets from the screened in porch. We would gladed return to Patten Place and highly recommend it.

“great place to stay”

The property was exactly as described on the internet. It was a very relaxing place to stay. We had a great time. We used the kayaks a lot. My son caught plenty of fish. We sunbathed on the dock. It is really only 2 bedrooms as the upstairs loft area has 3 separate beds but they were all in one large room which was fine for our children to sleep in. The master bedroom was great. We used the dishwasher all week and came home with all clean clothes since it had a washer and dryer. I would highly recommend this property. My kids can't wait to go back.
