About the area

Want a great place to relax? Relax and enjoy one of Green Lakes earlier camps, with its cozy rustic charm and great lake views. It is surrounded by tall pine trees and just steps from the lakes clear water. You can go fishing for Bass, Lake Trout, Salmon, swimming, paddling, boating or simply taking in the sights and sounds of nature. This lake is home to loons, osprey, bald eagles, bass, otter, deer, and the occasional moose. Great trails wind through the heavily wooded area, which is teeming with wildlife and delicious wild blueberries. On site you can swim, fish, paddleboat, take nature walks, sunbathe, relax with a good book, play a mean game of cribbage, the list goes on and on... If you need a little 'noise'...look to the wonderful communities nearby. Conveniently situated half way between Bangor and Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, our unique location provides easy access to restaurants, movies, malls, the Maine Discovery Museum for children, Shakespeare Festival, LL Bean Outlet and Bangor International Airport (all within 30 minutes). Need the ocean's spray? Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are within 30 minutes as well, where you can go sightseeing, hiking, bike the carriage trails, golf, go miniature golfing, meander through quaint villages with great restaurants and unique shops. There's live theater, museums, whale watching expeditions, sailing and so much more. Close to all the beauty of Maine. Easy access to Ellsworth's shopping (20 minutes) including its L.L. Bean outlet, Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor (45 minutes) with its bike/nature trails and plenty of ocean air; and only two hours from Baxter State Park and Maine's highest peak - Mount Katahdin. Acadia National Park is 45 minutes. Bangor, and the International Airport, is 30 minutes. Ellsworth, Blue Hill and Bucksport are equally close. Fine dining at the Lucerne Inn is only 15 minutes away. Lie on the dock and bask in the sunshine. Paddle the canoe, swim in perhaps the cleanest water you will ever see. The house faces north and catches the sun until late afternoon. Hike Bald Mountain, five minutes away, and see all the way to the ocean or Mt. Katahdin. Take a long walk or bike ride along country roads. There are plenty of places to explore. Bring home some lobsters and cook them at the house, or grill a nice piece of salmon. Enjoy a quiet evening on the deck, listening to the calls of the resident loon. Hancock County provides many attractions. Acadia National Park is exceptionally beautiful, offering sightseeing, whale watches, hiking, and everything for nature lovers. Bar Harbor, Blue Hill, Bangor and Ellsworth are home to many cultural activities, including concerts, a national folk music festival, art exhibitions and movie theaters. There are excellent restaurants and lobster pounds. There are many antique shops and golf courses.

Campy, but very comfy. Loons, swimming, boating, peace and quiet. It just does not get any better than this. A wonderful 4 weeks.

“A Maine Camp With A Quiet & Beautiful Setting”

Our time on Green Lake was memorable. We rented a pontoon boat from Joe Jenkins on the lake for fishing and cruising...both were exceptional. The camp is located down an 8 mile paved and gravel road ensuring peace and quiet. The view from the deck is as good as it gets! The beach is perfect for young kids. The kitchen was very well equipped. We had guests over for dinner a few times and easily fed 10 people using the kitchen and BBQ. From the main road entrance, one way goes towards Brewer and Bangor for a good movie, dinner out, or casino visit...the other way heads towards Ellsworth and further to Bar Harbor for sight seeing, mini-golf, seafood, and much more. Note that the listing states that there is an outdoor shower, which I assumed was for showering after a swim, however there is only an outdoor shower and not an indoor shower. The shower is nice and warm and my wife and I rather enjoyed it...but my teenage daughter didn't...I mention it so that you aren't surprised. Overall, this rental is great for a peaceful and restful vacation. I hope to stay here whenever I come back to the area.

We had a wonderful stay! The swimming here is awesome. a nice sandy beach. No mucky bottom at all. The camp is very rustic and clean and full of videos and books for a rainy day. My kids had a great time fishing and enjoyed seeing all the wildlife. The row boat and paddle boat made exploring easy. This cabin is truly on one of the best spots on Green Lake. .

A great Maine camp on a beautiful Maine lake good for boating, canoeing, swimming and floating complete with loons. The water was clear and not too deep, the sunrises beautiful. The camp had plenty of room for 6 of us and a baby and everything we needed. It felt like we were on the edge of civilization, but were close enough for dinner in Bangor or Ellsworth and outings in Bar Harbor. We had a wonderful time.
