Description from owner

Step back in time to a bygone era when vacations were actually relaxing. Whispering Pines vacation home, a charming rental retreat only 2 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park (and right across the road from the Big Thompson river), was built with integrity and beautiful craftsmanship which has been maintained throughout the years. There aren't many of these left.

Here you will find Old Estes charm, updated with today's amenities in the quaint mountain town of Estes Park. While the cabin offers all the amenities of a modern comfortable home there has been a concerted effort in its restoration to retain the look and feel of this wonderful old property.

Nestled among aspen and ponderosa pine trees, some of which are hundreds of years old, this is an heirloom historic 1928 property.

The 1 1/2 acres with mountain views and rock outcroppings contribute to the sense of solitude. This home is filled with tasteful and comfortable furnishings, and the town of Estes Park is only a 1/2 mile walk away. ( There are no sidewalks but we walk along the grassy shoulder ; it's a 30 mph road.)

Here is the perfect place to come and escape the summer heat (daytime temperatures are generally in the 70's to mid 80's and evenings get into the 40's and 50's) as well as enjoy the serenity of the mountains year round, and a wonderful place for people who appreciate vintage flair and the grace of years past.

Enjoy the all-season sunroom-- the perfect place to play cards, read, sip a cup of your favorite beverage, visit with friends or family, or just relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Big Thompson River. There are plenty of windows to take in the beauty and tranquility of the mountains, including the deer and elk that often wander through (and even the occasional bear).

The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is just 5 minutes away, with many trails to hike, snowshoe or even for backcountry skiing. The Eldora downhill ski area is an hour drive away.

We provide a collection of DVD's, games, and books, including mountain interest and local information. We also have extras to make your vacation comfortable and safe-- first aid kit, flash light, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detector, cooler, snowshoes upon request, etc.

Much effort has been taken to care for and furnish our mountain cabin and we want our guests to feel welcome and comfortable, and to enjoy it as much as we do. We are proud to provide a clean and smoke-free environment (smoking is allowed outside). This had been a family home for 85 years and has only been made available for rentals in the past 10 years.

This Estes Park cabin has it all--lots of character, a large wooded lot providing privacy without isolation, across the road from the river with no buildings in-between to spoil the view or muffle the sound, walking distance to downtown, a huge stone wood-burning fireplace, mountain views, high-speed wireless internet and room inside and out to spread out and relax.

This place has a sense of history and stands out from the crowd; a place you won't forget.

“Clean, cozy and accomodating!”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2016

We had great time at Whispering Pines! It has everything you need to feel right at home with warmth and charm. Sue was a great hostess, easy to communicate with. Close to the RMNP, hiking trails, great restaurants and shops. We enjoyed all the wildlife and had an Elk migration come through the property. We can't wait to come back and would recommend this lovely, private place to all our friends and family! Thanks for the great visit!

We really enjoyed our visit and there is no better way than to top off a day of hiking, shopping or browsing than by sitting in front of a great fire in this cozy cabin. Adrianna

This beautiful "cabin" was perfect. Thank you so much for making it so comfortable. The view is wonderful and also the location near the park. Craig family 2008

Your cabin was/is a lovely haven. We had a wonderful week with good friends and enjoyed the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains. Loved the friendly deer and elk that visited almost daily. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Thanks so much. Angela & Dick

This cabin is a true treasure. We loved hanging out in this gorgeous cabin. It's rustic but not in a kitschy way. Super cabin-truly a gem! Sept 2015
