Description from owner

Welcome to 'Lumpy Ridge Retreat.' This wonderful, year-round, updated cabin is nestled in huge rock outcroppings and has spectacular views of Long's Peak and Twin Sisters. It was completely remodeled and provides all the modern amenities of home, including smart TV in the living room and high speed wifi. You will love the ambiance of the cabin and its surroundings which may include frequent visits from elk, deer, coyotes, bobcats, and the occasional bear. You will truly 'get away from it all' and fully enjoy the mountain experience.

Located two miles from downtown Estes Park, 'Lumpy Ridge Retreat' is located in the revered, north side of town beneath Lumpy Ridge and within one-half mile of Lumpy Ridge Trailhead (aka Gem Lake Trailhead) in Rocky Mountain National Park. Access is easy from the main road. There are two gazebos: one is behind the cabin and built into the huge boulders with a patio set and grill, and the other has beautiful views and a cozy outdoor wicker sofa set and coffee table (see photo). Together with a new (2017) private all-season hot tub with surrounding boulders. plenty of deck space, and two picnic tables, this cabin is designed for outdoor living. If steps are a problem, there is level access to the cabin from the rear of the property.

The inside in full of light and decorated in cabin decor. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The living room/dining area is very homey with pine tongue and groove siding, comfy furniture, flat screen TV w/dvds, and huge windows enveloping the outdoors. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances. For outdoor cooking, the gas grill is a few steps outside in the backyard gazebo. The main bathroom has a tiled shower and the master bath includes a jetted spa tub with shower. There is also a washer and dryer, and if needed, a window air conditioner and several ceiling fans.

The master bedroom has a king size bed, huge panoramic windows, pine cathedral ceiling, and a private deck. Also, there is a beautiful gas fireplace, elk antler ceiling fan, and flat screen TV. The second bedroom has a queen bed, log furnishings, huge window with great views, and a ceiling fan. The third bedroom has two log twin beds. Each bedroom has a dresser and closet with extra pillows/linens.

Sorry, no parties, reunions, weddings, receptions, or large gatherings. Also, we are a non-smoking property, including marijuana. This is a one-of-a-kind property and we invite you to experience 'Lumpy Ridge Retreat.' We know you'll be glad you did. Thank you!

We have successfully rented our cabin for 8 years with over 50 Five Star Reviews.

Some comments from our guest book:

'We were thrilled to see all the wildlife. Herds of elk everywhere. Deer too, of course, but no bears. The views were spectacular. The cabin was absolutely delightful-cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay immensely. You always know you have found a truly great place when you don't want to leave-this was it!' The Deans (Florida)

'This home was perfect. It is situated very well and very clean. It was my parents first visit to Estes Park and this home was the perfect introduction! The rock face in the backyard is a blast to explore. Saw tons of wildlife all around and loved hearing the coyotes howl at night. We plan on returning!! Thanks so much!' Tanger family (Indiana)

'Like many have already written, Lumpy Ridge Retreat is a very special place. One of the best we've rented through vacation sites. We appreciate the care for detail and quality of furnishings. We hope to be back. A wonderful 2 weeks!' Barb & fam

'Our expectations have always been met with other vacation rentals. However, this one EXCEEDED expectations. Janeen, your attention to detail in decor and consideration of what a family needs to relax is top notch. Thanks for trusting us with such a prized possession. Our first vacation to Colorado and RMNP will be a favorite for our family. Thank you, thank you, thank you.' Deb and family (Minnesota)

'Lumpy Ridge Retreat was one of the best rentals we've ever had--convenient location and wonderful amenities--Thanks and we'll be back and stay longer next time!' Ed and Marie (Michigan)

'Loved everything about the cabin and the location - close to everything but wonderful privacy. We couldn't have chosen a better home away from home while we explored the beautiful Rocky Mountains.' Baxter Family (Wisconsin)

'This house had the perfect setup for our family, the decor is beautiful and cozy and the amenities are fabulous! The view must be the best in Estes Park! We could have stayed home all day and the kids would have been perfectly happy. All of the touches that the owners provided in the cabin like hairdryers, coffee, etc, make it very welcoming to be here. Our favorite part of each day was having breakfast and coffee in the gazebo! The comfort, weather, and view made it perfect. Thank you!!!' Chris, Brandy and family

'Last year we had the Big Thompson river out the back door and this year, the rocks--rocks win! We would love to stay here again. Hot tub was wonderful in the cold early mornings. Master Bedroom--fantastic views! Very cozy Home!' Dan, Christy, Jacob, and Ben.

“Best rental experience ever”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2016

When you search on line for a vacation home, you just never know...you hope it is a good choice and you rely on the reviews. But you can't be sure. In this case, the reviews are spot on. This cabin is impeccably maintained and is a very high quality construction. The furnishings are clean, solid and relatively new. The kitchen had EVERYTHING we needed to cook a full Thanksgiving meal. I was not planning on cooking as most rentals have low quality kitchen supplies and very few rentals have a full range of amenities. Not this cabin- it is ready for the family! The beds are quality and comfy, the location is perfect. It is a short distance from town so the grocery is quick access yet it is far enough away to enjoy the dark sky filled with stars. My favorite and most critical requirement is the outdoor hot tub. And it was fantastic - hot, kept its temperature, clean and snuggled in between huge boulders which offered privacy. Janeen and Jeff are attentive owners and easy to work with. We had an amazing week and I wouldn't hesitate to return to this property for my future visits. Thank you, McGinn's, for affording us a spectacular Holiday week!
