Description of the Estes Park vacation cabin rental

This Mountain Life @ Redemption Cabin is an intimate, upscale, natural retreat. It's an authentic Rocky Mountain village experience and fits into the cozy-little-cabin by a rushing-mountain-stream category. It's a storybook existence for celebrations, outdoor adventure, perfect peace and complete rest. We have the No.1 walkable downtown location.

All season Redemption Cabin is a "smart" historical cabin where its guests feel pampered and challenged, refreshed and inspired.

It affords travelers the unique opportunity to experience authentic mountain village life and endless outdoor adventure from one easily-accessible place.

Inside the cabin you are transported to a simpler, quieter time. It's a storybook experience of search and discovery. The cabin is cozy, comfortable and private. Without pretense, it presents first-class character at every detail.

Outdoors, a feeling of romantic loveliness permeates Redemption's crisp mountain air. You are caught in a poetic picture, an eloquent hymn, a sublime garden all arranged with infinite care, an ancient anthem to the Creator. Fresh verses come to mind that renew and sustain. Like Emerson, Burroughs, Muir, Mills and Fogelberg, our guests are awed by the gentleness and grandeur of the surrounding snowcapped massifs and forested steeps, the deeply cut granite gorges and chaos canyons, the winding streams and hanging alpine lakes. They never feel so strong and alive as from a rocky perch high in the sky. Freedom like most never know.

Redemption Cabin is a "perfect mix of location and amenities." See what other guests say at the end of our Introduction.

It is best suited for singles, couples, friends (up to 3 adults), and small families (up to 4) seeking adventure, revival, or natural escape.

Redemption resides in a picture perfect natural setting. Bright sunny mornings. Moonlit evenings. The cabin is sheltered under the rocky crags and cliffs of Little Prospect Mountain at the southern tip of downtown Estes where two famous snow-fed mountain streams merge. The cabin is on the east riverside Big Thompson leg. The area is travelled by feet, bikes, horse drawn carriages, cars, tubes, canoes, and kayaks.

It has a mature natural landscape with lumpy boulders and rocky ridges, old growth trees, dappled sunlight, singing birds, roaming wildlife, and rushing sounds of emerald water as clear and cold as the high-mountain glaciers that feed it. Rainbow trout included. For more, read Redemption's Neighborhood.

The Cabin is fully stocked with important details. The kitchen, beds, bath and comfort amenities are all new. We provide all the essentials and more, pantry supplies, kitchen condiments, teas and coffee, luxury hotel towels & linens, special lighting, and quality finishes throughout. Not to be missed, we also share our private collection of navigational maps and adventure books, fly fishing gear, mountain bike, golf clubs, local knowledge, and top area picks.

The cabin is exceptionally clean, Eco-friendly, and smoke-free.

With Redemption, you also get a "great walkable location". Getting downtown is a simple downstream stroll along a cabin filled lane. There you will find the best of local attractions, festivals, restaurants, coffee houses, wineries, craft beer breweries, retail shopping, green parks, outdoor concerts, riverwalks, hiking paths, and other exciting places to be active or quiet.

Circa 1914, Redemption Cabin has had a storied existence. It's living history. The cabin logs were harvested, hauled to site, cut, stacked, spiked & chinked into walls by pioneers in the likes of John Cleave, the Park's first permanent merchant, Enos Mills, the naturalist credited as the Father of Rocky Mountain National Park, and F.O. Stanley, the industrialist, co-inventor of the Stanley Steamer and visionary who had a big hand in shaping Estes Park as it is today. Despite all the change of the past 100 years, Redemption Cabin, shroud in nature's glory & simple humility, is still one of the most wild and beautiful places anywhere.

Both Redemption and Rocky Mountain National Park just celebrated their 100 year anniversaries.

Free parking right at the cabin front door.
Free high speed WiFi.

Trip with the Boys

September 1, 2016

At 63 I took my first boys only trip with my sons. Our primary activity was to do some hiking in RMNP. This cabin was a perfecting launching point for us. Sometimes pictures don't accurately portray the cabin but in this case we got exactly what we expected which was great. Would definitely come back if my knees hold up.

I'm preparing to deploy overseas for the military, and wanted to find a place for my kids and I to spend a final quality weekend before I leave. My kids had a blast, and the place was so cozy and right near downtown Estes Park. We hit the stores, did some hiking, and enjoyed great food. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend with my kids. Rick provided tons of pictures of the place, and was awesome about being available for questions. I recommend Redemption Cabin to everybody.

Owner's reply:

We we honored that you chose Redemption Cabin for the purposes you intended. We'd be pleased to see you return after your hardship deployment. Godspeed, Jason Cole.

Cozy, comfortable, quiet and close to the action.
Wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Redemption over Valentine's weekend. Cabin is the perfect mix of location and amenities without being too much of either. Owners were friendly and ready to lend a helping hand for navigating activities and eats. Would happily come again. Loved Estes Park, RMNP and Redemption Cabin.

Cozy and Perfect.
My mom, dad, daughter (age 11) and I all enjoyed the cabin over Christmas. It was perfect. I enjoyed that it was so close to town (we walked to dinner one night and enjoyed the holiday lights). I also enjoyed the "cabin" feel without having to be out and away too far. But, it was "away" enough that there were plenty of outdoor activities nearby. We snow shoed in Rocky Mt. National Park; and hiked a local Estes park hike on Christmas day, topped of with seeing a small herd of elk up close.

The cabin is warm and the kitchen is fully equipped (we fixed our Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas breakfast and dinner). Our host/owner was wonderful - he expertly matched our physical abilities (range of 60s years to 11 years) to the properly challenging, beautiful, and doable hikes/snow shoe trips.

The youth bed is definitely for a youth. My daughter is pretty tall for a 11 year old, and it was a little small. However, it wasn't that bad - because she asked me to trade her for one night, so I personally slept in the bed. Wouldn't recommend it for an adult :) But, our stay was so perfect, that was hardly a problem. Just make sure it is a good fit for your family.

I would return there every Christmas with my little family if I could. Highly, highly recommended.

Loved it. Perfect for a family our size, age, interests.
The owners of Redemption clearly have a hospitality mindset that is beyond the usual. From the simple niceties of having a clean place to the more complex questions of character and thoughtful planning - everything here jumps out at you as 'just right'. Our kids had books laid on their pillows. Enough fun things (books, Estes relics) to look at without going over the top with it. The owners had placed padding on spot where someone could hit there head on an eave out back. An extra water bottle was available. Etc Etc. Attention to detail at every turn. There was ample access to information, videos, books, brochures etc that saved us from needing to do extensive research. Everything was set so we could relax, wake up and go. Being walking distance to town was great. And being close to RMNP was perfect, too.

Excellent in every way
The fine finishes in this cabin, the wise use of space, the location, the owner's hospitality and knowledge of RMNP and EP---all are excellent! Every compliment paid by other travelers in their 5 star ratings of Redemption on a River is true, so I'll just say ditto. Having stayed elsewhere on four other trips to EP, we have personal experience to compare with this stay. Our accommodations on previous trips were very good, but this was the best trip by far because of staying in this cabin.

Great cabin, great location!
We had a great stay at this cabin! It was clean, fresh, and comfortable! The bed was very comfortable and the linens and towels were of great quality. Rick was a great host. He provided good recommendations on things to do and the cabin was full of information about the park and surrounding areas. This cabin also has a great trail right out the back door that is just a short climb to the top which over looks the town with great views of the mountains. The location of this cabin was also perfect. Short drive to RMNP and a short walk to downtown. We would definitely go back!

Cozy place with luxury touches.
We had a wonderful week at Redemption Cabin. It's a cozy cabin with historic charm. We loved the antiques! Because we are not super rustic people, we also loved the updated kitchen with new appliances and granite counter-tops. The beds are very comfortable with super soft sheets and tasteful bedding. Everything was VERY clean which is a huge deal for me! The little back yard/sitting area was beautiful in the morning. We could walk just about everywhere we wanted to go in Estes Park and it's a short drive to RMNP. We enjoyed all of the resources about hiking the park that were readily available in the cabin. Highly recommend it for a couple or a small family like ours!

Great Place to Stay in Estes!
Rick's cabin is the perfect location for Estes...walking distance to the river, a park, downtown, restaurants, shopping, groceries, etc. The cabin is well appointed with a well stocked kitchen and lots of nice touches (hiking books, teapot/tea out on the counter). Rick is a wonderful host, recommending hikes and things to do that were perfect for our family. We highly recommend Redemption on a River. We've been to Estes many times, and this is by far our favorite location and accommodation.

A little bit of Estes Park history comes alive!
My husband and I stayed at Redemption Cabin for two nights. What a wonderful getaway it was! I loved learning about the history of the cabin and Estes Park. There are so many wonderful books to read as well as fun details in the cabin that transport you to days gone by. The cabin is located close to town, so it was especially nice to be able to walk to the wonderful restaurants and shops. It was such a relaxing and fun weekend for us both!

Historic, unique, quaint, cozy, warm and comfortable. A fantastic base camp for exploring Estes and surrounding areas. My wife and I spent three days and three nights relaxing at Redemption Cabin, celebrating a birthday, visiting RMNP, and exploring Estes. Cabin owner Rick is a fantastic host. Easy to connect with, made sure we had everything we needed, recommended some terrific restaurants and made us feel like old friends. We loved it and didn’t want to leave it. If you want to slow down, walk Estes and rejuvenate this is the spot!

Thanksgiving in Estes Park at Redemption Cabin.
As I reflect back on our Thanksgiving Holiday, there is no time more fitting than now to express our gratitude, thank you, Rick. Redemption Cabin represents an earlier time in Estes Park combined with all the modern amenities of today. The cabin is clean, warm, and inviting. It was everything I expected and much more.
Redemption Cabin is not just a cabin in the Rocky Mountains. Upon entering this "gem" you feel like you are entering a home....yours for the duration of your stay. I would recommend a stroll along the village's River Walk either early in the morning, late afternoon, or early evening. Will we return? Definitely.

Peace and Relaxation at Redemption Cabin.
My wife and I stayed at Redemption Cabin for a couple nights and loved it. Rick, the cabin owner, was very nice and accommodating during our stay. The cozy and historic cabin is just a block or so south of the "old downtown" shopping and restaurant area. I loved that there was a couple options for heating the cabin. My wife loved looking through some of the old books that are strewn throughout. The TV/DVR came in handy one rainy evening. We had a great time and look forward to staying again in the future. Thank You, Rick!

What a unique jewel in the heart of Estes Park!
We stayed two nights in the Redemption Cabin, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about property owner Rick and his cabin. Between the historical design of the cabin and the antique décor, the Redemption Cabin makes you feel like you went back to early 1900's Colorado. Its location is just a short walk to town, but it is tucked away in a spot that makes you feel secluded. There is a rock bluff behind that cabin that is easily climbed for an unbelievable view of Estes Park. Each evening, we sat on top of the bluff and watched the sunset over Estes Park. It was an experience you would never be able to replicate in a condo or hotel. The view from the bluff is priceless.

Perfectly Located Cozy, Historical Cabin.
My husband and I came to visit Estes Park for our anniversary, and had an absolutely amazing stay at Redemption Cabin. We knew that it would have some historical charm before we came, but it was even better than expected. Rick and his wife have put exceptional amount of detail into making every crook and cranny something special for you, and we were absolutely charmed by it.

Further than the historical charm though, the cabin is actually very comfortable to stay in. It has all the historic goodies with all the present pleasantries! There was some food already stocked in the pantry, which kept us from having to buy some of the basics, and the kitchen is stocked with all the utensils and cookware that you need. We ate in for most of the time there and loved it. They even thought of putting in an electrical kettle for hot water for tea so you don't have to use the microwave or coffee machine.

We looked for a very long time before coming to RMNP for the perfect place to stay because I was pretty particular about the type of ambiance and coziness in the cabin we would stay in, and we definitely found it. I was hesitant at first because so many of the other cabins had a hot tub or some type of view. Trust me - you won't miss it - at all. The cabin is 2 minutes walking distance to downtown, and by the time you've hiked all day, it was nicer for us to snuggle up by the wood stove under a blanket than be outside in a hot tub. I was so happy I forewent the hot tub for Redemption Cabin. I think the surprising part of our trip was that we probably enjoyed spending time in the cabin in the morning and evening as much as we did outside at the park. Very well done! You really can't go wrong staying here. I highly recommend it.

Great Getaway Place.
My husband and I rented Redemption Cabin for 2 nights. It was the perfect ending to our trek around Colorado. A great small cabin with big amenities. Even though it is in a busy tourist town, we felt we were in a "cabin in the woods". The description and photos were accurate. The property was well-maintained and clean. Loved the bath towels. Easy walk to town from this property.

Exactly as advertised.
While Redemption cabin is very compact (tiny kitchen, living room, and bedrooms; the bathroom is actually fairly spacious), it was an ideal location to walk into Estes, hear the music of the constant flow of Thompson Creek across the road, and had all the amenities we could want or need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

10th Anniversary Trip.
Redemption Cabin appeals to all of the senses - from the 360 degree view of the mountains and wildlife, to the sound of the rushing Big Thompson River, and the attractions of Estes Park. We had a fantastic visit, and thoroughly enjoyed having Redemption Cabin as our home base in Colorado. Thanks for your hospitality, Rick! The cabin is expertly decorated, and we enjoyed the playlist, too!

Walk to town, Well Decorated Log Cabin
My son and I visited to hike, climb and enjoy the outdoors. The cabin is about 4 miles from the Fall River RMNP park entrance and a 5 min walk to town. The short walk to town is great because parking during the busy season is a nightmare downtown. The river is across the street and you can hear the calming sounds from the cabin. Cliffs are behind you so although you are very near other cabins, it feels private. The cabin is small but is decorated like its out of a magazine and is fully stocked with everything you could need. Rick, the owner, was very friendly and responsive. We travel frequently and are fairly discriminating about accommodations and we would stay at Redemption again.

Wonderful Rocky Mountain Find.
Our family of four, which includes two children ages 6 and 9, stayed at Redemption Cabin for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have stayed at four **** locations and this was by far our favorite. Rick has created a warm, inviting home with many small touches that made our stay comfortable and relaxing. Young climbers will especially love the boulders behind the cabin. We were a close walk to downtown Estes Park and a short drive to RMNP each day. We highly recommend Redemption Cabin!

16th anniversary.
My husband and I returned to Estes park for our second honeymoon to celebrate 16 years together. This was the perfect cabin, great personality and attention to detail with unique antique decor that reflects the history of the cabin and town. Downtown Estes is within walking distance and we loved the river walk along the shoppes and restaurants. Short drive to the Rocky Mountain national park making a day hike ending with nice dinner and glass of vino in town a perfect day. Great place to get away. Rick was very helpful with recommendations and making sure we were comfortable, great host!! We also loved hearing the Big Thompson river outside the cabin. Highly recommend this quaint cabin for some R&R.

Great location!
My sisters and I had the pleasure of staying at Redemption Cabin in Estes Park recently. We found the description to be accurate and even found it to be a little better than the description:) The cabin was in a great location! We were able to walk to town and it was only a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. We were also pleasantly surprised by the stocked pantry.

Rick is a great host--provided good information about the area and made sure that we had everything we needed. I'm sure that we will rent this cabin again!

Cozy, spotless, and you can walk into town!
A clean, cute, wonderful historic cabin in Estes Park where you can easily walk into town for dining and shopping. It is just a short drive to all of the nature activities. Rick, the owner, is great to deal with and ensures that you have everything you need and answers questions as needed without hovering. We loved watching the birds and chipmunks in the morning in the little back sitting area. The cabin also has a tv and dvd player for watching a movie at night. Lots of books about birds, hikes, and Estes Park history to peruse. I'd stay again in a heartbeat and will recommend to my friends and family. It is a tiny/cozy place though - absolutely perfect for a couple. You could possibly fit two kids in as well, but it might be a little extra cozy!

Quaint and Cozy.
This is the perfect little cabin for a romantic getaway where a couple can be close to the great outdoors and also a short walk to the quaint shops and boutiques of Estes Park. The cabin is extremely well designed with every detail thought out - including the homemade ready to bake cookie dough in the refrigerator. Furthermore, Rick, the owner, couldn't have been more accommodating and ready to assist be it with outdoor activity or restaurant recommendations.

What a find!
This little cabin was an excellent find and across the street from the Big Thompson River...good for fishing! The cabin is quiet, restful and compact, yet packed with everything you'd need. The décor is creative and unique and very fitting for the style. Comfortable beds and plush towels were delightful and welcomed. Estes Park is a beautiful little town and the "Star" is the Rocky Mountain National Park. Although we didn't get to meet Rick, we did meet Cheryl and she is a lovely, hospitable person. Be sure to eat at Dave's BBQ and the Stanley Hotel. These were two of our favorites! We hope to return at some point and would definitely stay at Redemption!

Perfect Colorado Cabin.
This was our first visit to Colorado and what a jewel we found in Estes Park! Redemption Cabin is cozy, warm, beautifully decorated. Rick was especially hospitable showing us the great view of the town atop the rocks behind the cabin and lending us a couple of backpacks for our hike at RMNP. The attention to detail in this cabin was unsurpassable from the quality bedding and kitchenware to the stocked pantry! The location of the cabin was convenient too! It is in walking distance to restaurants, shops and Estes Park all by way of a lovely river walk, so no need for a car! We had a great stay and hope to come back to Redemption cabin again!

Great time for the whole family.
We spent a wonderful 4 days at Redemption cabin. Our two kids (ages 5 and 3) had a great time as well. The cabin is cozy, nicely done and very clean.

Rick was the best host one could hope for and made us feel right at home, identifying activities for the kids as well. Kids had a great time with Cody (Rick's dog). We do not have a pet at home, so the kids were very curious but apprehensive. They still talk about Cody.

The location is very good - walking distance to the town and an easy drive to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Highly recommended!

The lovely Redemption Cabin.
My husband and I just spent 5 days in Estes Park and stayed at the Redemption Cabin. It was perfect and delightful. Newly remodeled with antique accents it has a pristine well stocked kitchen with all new appliances. Two comfortable bedrooms with windows that open to let in the mountain air. You can sit outside and listen to the little river across the street and walk downtown in about two minutes. The owners were attentive to our needs and gave us great suggestions. We recommend the cabin to anyone who wants to relax, walk to town, and enjoy the great air .

Charming Romantic Getaway.
We loved everything about our stay. The cabin is clean, charming, inviting, comfortable and has many new updates. Rick was great to work with too! He helped us with dinner options, and gave us the insiders scoop for which hikes to do with our family. We loved the fact that we could walk to breakfast or dinner, and really enjoyed the river walk path. We definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Estes. Thanks again for everything Rick! We hope to come back soon.

Our family of 4 enjoyed Redemption Cabin during our summer road trip. We enjoyed the comforts of the cabin and all it had to offer. It was a wonderful place of relaxation after our hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park (and shopping in Estes Park!) It was an ideal location and environment for our family to enjoy together. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to stay at your cabin.

Adorable cabin in a great location!
The cabin was just what we were looking for, a great place to relax with a lot of unique touches. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location is perfect because it is within easy walking distance of everything in town. Rick, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful with recommendations. Estes Park is a beautiful town and the perfect place to enjoy the mountains.

Peaceful and Accessible.
This was my first experience using **** and I was not sure what to expect. You know when you look at brochure pictures, you wonder if the "real thing" will be what you expect. I can say that the pictures of Redemption Cabin were spot was everything I was expecting and more! I wanted a peaceful, quiet getaway, and Redemption Cabin delivered. Downtown Estes Park was accessible within walking distance. The cabin is not isolated, but the area was quite peaceful and it felt rather secluded (which for me was a good thing!). The river is across the street and during my visit it was very active so I could sleep to the sound of rushing water.

The house itself is quaint and the Grigsbys did a great job of keeping an authentic 1914 cabin feel in terms of décor and style. They did put in brand new appliances in the kitchen. Other than a dusty floor (part of living in the dry atmosphere of the mountains), the place was immaculate. It is a small cabin - probably best for 2 people (maybe 3). It is ideal for the solo traveler.

The location of the cabin is ideal. It is close not only to the downtown area but it is also close to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, YMCA of the Rockies, and more.

I have already recommended this place to several of my friends. I cannot give it a higher recommendation! Any **** from this point forward has a HUGE standard to live up to! I look forward to scheduling my next visit!

Good for your soul.
We had such a positive experience from beginning to end while staying at Redemption Cabin. The communication with Rick was thorough, efficient, and helpful. The location could not be better- close to the river/creek and walking distance to town. We left our car untouched for all of our three days except while exploring the National Park. The cabin itself is filled with the perfect mixture of old and new. The antiques are interesting and obviously well thought out. My favorite touches were the suitcase turned into a vanity and the bell jar lights. We enjoyed the lack of tv though we did watch the Estes Park DVD, which offered additional insight into the history of the town. Mostly we read, drank wine or coffee out front, sat out back and watched the chipmunks, and just enjoyed our family time. Our three days went way too quickly but certainly we appreciated this 'good for your soul' visit. Hope to return after we are back in the states again. Blessings to Rick and his family!

Wonderful Getaway at Redemption Cabin.
My husband and I enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing day/night at Redemption cabin! It has obviously been lovingly restored with beautiful details was so fun looking at all of them! It was also very peaceful there. We enjoyed relaxing in the backyard watching all the birds, chipmunks, etc.

The location was fantastic as we could walk to the downtown area and it is only a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park.

I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun getaway!

Rested and Rejuvenated.
We can't say enough wonderful things about Redemption cabin! Between Rick's incredible craftsmanship and both he and Cheryl's warm and thoughtful hospitality, it was difficult to leave. They have thoughtfully included a wealth of details and extra touches that make one feel so very pampered. Our son loved climbing the mountain behind the cabin and watching birds from his bedroom window with the binoculars and bird book in hand that were in the cabin. Rick also made him feel very important by asking for his input about what would make his room even better:-).The kitchen is very well equipped and the beds are so comfortable that sleeping in is a given. Thanks so much for your kindness and hospitality!! We look forward to returning!

Awesome Quaint Cabin.
I love how the owners mixed the old with the new when restoring this adorable cabin. All the added details and vintage items that decorate each room create a lovely living space. You can sit out front with a cup of hot tea and enjoy the view or while resting in the back bedroom look out the window and watch birds and chipmunks eat birdseed from a feeder. The kitchen is fully updated and had everything I needed for a wonderful weekend stay. I can't wait to return.
