About the area

West Falmouth is a delightful residential community and historic neighborhood. The Old Stone Barn is over 200 years old, and sits adjacent to several other houses dating to the 1700's and early 1800's. The house looks onto Black Beach, a public beach accessible only by water or by walking at low tide from one of the nearby public beaches (Woodneck or Chapaquoit). The nearest public beach is Chapaquoit, approximately 10 minutes by bike, past the West Falmouth harbor. Beach stickers for parking at all the town beaches can be purchased at the Town Beach with a rental contract, or by the day at Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth. There is a bike trail from Falmouth to Woods Hole- The Shining Sea Bikeway - a great excursion along beach and to the coffee shop and aquarium. The trail extension through West Falmouth was just completed and is easily accessible via Quahog Pond Lane, a quarter mile to the north.

“Charming home in beautiful location”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2016

The Old Stone Barn is a charming home, with a fantastic view down to Buzzard's Bay and plenty of space for a large family or group of friends to gather. The home is also well appointed and conveniently located with easy access to the bike path, the beaches of West Falmouth, the town of Falmouth, and down to Woods Hole. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to spend time in a beautiful part of Cape Cod.

“A wonderful family gathering place.”

This is our second time celebrating a significant birthday. at the stone house. In spite of it being "off season" it was spacious, warm and welcoming. We look forward to many more special holidays together there.

“Five stars is not enough”

The house, the area, the view were flawlessly sublime for us to revel in my daughter's post-graduation glories. The upper deck when clear was perfect for a sundowner, and the huge and wonderfully furniture sun porch was ideal for all else. Thanks for making the house available for such purposes. It's really quite perfect for a relaxed stay with a pile of good folks.

Great offseason getaway for couples. Loved the fireplace and view of the ocean . Good location for restaraunts, shops, etc. Wife and I spent 3 nights and Sebastian gave us a break as it was only 2 of us. House is huge and very interesting to walk around ,loved reading by the fireplace. will book again

Spacious, comfortable, conveniently located with close access to bike path. We particularly enjoyed the sun room with the ocean view. There were 8-10 of us at any given time and it never felt crowded. Nice rooms to spend time together, enough rooms to stay away from each other. The house is beautifully remodeled and is well stocked with comfortable furniture, beds, kitchen utensils, etc. Air conditioning would have been nice but fans provided adequate relief on hot days. TV reception was not great but that was not important to us. Overall a great place to stay. We look forward to doing it again!

“Winter Writer's Retreat”

Reviewed 12 May 2010

The house is comfortable, well stocked with everything you need! The accessibility to the bike trails and beaches is great. I've seen the property in the summer and winter, and I can't wait to return. Plenty of room for everyone! My winter stay was just what I needed to complete my manuscript. I highly recommend this house. Have a great time.

“Great time, great friends, great HOUSE!!”

This is a perfect house for a large group! We are a group of 7 childhood friends (had room for a few more) in our early 40s that came together for a week of laughter, reminiscing, and new memories made at the Old Stone Barn. Having never been to the Cape, I found it to be in the perfect location - easy access to Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard (ferries are 15 - 20 min away), Hyannis (great Brazilian Grill), beaches, even drove to Provincetown for a day (45 min - we were there after Labor Day). The house had history, character, and charm - and the site is gorgeous - the views of Buzzard Bay are amazing!! Everything you need is provided...the kitchen is well stocked. Falmouth is close and has some cute shops (sweatshirt outlet has GREAT deals!) ...try The Clam Man fish shop for great lobster - we bought it live and cooked it at the barn - DELISH!!! We hope to make this a bi-annual reunion!! THANKS SO MUCH!!! Brian McGuire(CA), Colleen Darcy(NY), David Ortlieb(FL), Robin Kuster-Baker(NY), Linda DePuy(NY), John Klepeis(NY), Stephan Rowlette(CA)
