Description from owner

Just up the hill from the village, this family home is surrounded by deck, gardens and wooded yard. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs sleep six easily. The fourth bedroom (sleeps two) and one bath are downstairs, with separate access; great for guests or teenagers. And living room couches are comfortable for friends "sleeping over" . Almost everyone lines up for an outdoor shower, especially after a day at the beach. The washer/dryer is close by on the lower level. The large western-facing deck is shady most of the day. The sunny south side deck facing the gardens is perfect for morning coffee. The cozy kitchen is well-stocked for whipping up great dinners (except there is no dishwasher). We cook most of the time on the charcoal grill; paella is a family favorite. Large living room with expandable dining table makes family gathering easy. Study with fireplace is good for quiet time. Plenty of beach toys and 4 bikes to fill days with local adventures, no car needed. Loads of books, puzzles, music CDs if you prefer to hang out around the house, but no TV. There is wi-fi if someone needs an internet fix.

Beds: 2 Queen Beds, 4 Twin Beds, 2 Sofa Beds

About the area

Stroll to the cafe for breakfast, head to the market for provisions or sandwiches, and stop by the ice cream shop after the beach. W Falmouth village feels old-fashioned. The local bike path runs right through town, providing easy access to the great Sippewissett Marsh, to local beaches, and to Woods Hole. Conservation land on the hill, local cranberrry bogs and beach roads are great for walking or jogging. A ballfield, tennis courts and recently renovated playground are just down the hill from the house. We recommend riding lessons or trail rides at Fieldcrest Farm. Along W Falmouth Hwy there are farmstands and fish market. Famouth Center has a great main street with shops, restaurants and pubs. Local musicians are always performing at one place or another. The library is a great resource for DVDs and of course books. Summer stock productions of Broadway shows take place at Highfield Theater. There is also a major shopping area with supermarkets and drug store chains for stocking up. Woods Hole is another village to hear music or check out local artists and craftspeople not to mention the world famous Woods Hole Oceanographic and Marine Biological Labs. For other adventures, hop the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, drive to Sandwich for museums or continue down Cape to other nearby towns for antiques shopping.

“great family vacations - great owners”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2015

We have been renting on the Cape for years and this has been our best experience. The owners are wonderful - very approachable, responsive and easy-going. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need on the Cape - books, bikes, beach equipment plus a great relaxing atmosphere. It is in walking distance from the town beach and biking distance to a wild beach in a conservation area. We will certainly return next summer.

Owner's reply: We are so glad your family enjoyed the house. Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to hosting you again. Randall

“great location”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2014

Great location for easy access to all the west coast beaches...my favorite. House was very eclectic which we loved and had plenty of space for 5 adults and 3 kids. Evenings out on the deck were wonderful and the grounds were lovely. Some of the beds were a bit too firm for the older folks on the trip. The downstairs bedroom had the best mattress, but the room was too musty for my taste...the kids didn't seem to mind it though as they are used to camping.

Owner's reply: Dear Ms Rosser, Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the yard and the deck. We will keep an eye on the downstairs bedroom. Randall

“60's Haven”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2014

It would be easy to crtiicise this property on the grounds that it lacked certain facilities, e,g, air-conditioning, and proper access to the lower bedroom , but this would be to totally miss the point of the house. It is like walking into the 1950's/60's and we loved it for that. It also feels totally integrated into it's environment, we could sit on the balcony within a stone's throw of squirrels and chipmunks, and the birds woke us with the dawn chorus. The selection of books is remarkable, also the music selection. None of us wanted to leave, the location is really good, Falmouth has lots to offer, and we made use of the bikes. It is a good base for visiting Martha's Vineyard etc.Overall, a very memorable experience .

Owner's reply: Dear Mr Ormesher, thanks for your kind words. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay and made such good use of all the house and the area have to offer. Best wishes, Randall

“Casual Style West Falmouth Home”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2013

We stayed for 8 days in this absolutely marvelous place. The house is well taken care of and very well appointed for a rental (it doesn't just have sheets, towels and household things which make the vacation a lot easier but it also has bikes, games for children and wonderful books). Communication with the owners was easy, they were very friendly and responsive. The house has an absolutely perfect location( just 10min walk to the Chapoquoit beach and bike path), surrounded by beautiful trees and bushes, very spacious and light, and has a nice deck that was our favorite place to have morning coffee or evening tea. We've been renting on the Cape for a few years now and this has been the best. Elena&Andrei

Owner's reply: We are so glad you enjoyed your time in West Falmouth. Thanks for your kind words. We look forward to hosting you again sometime. Warm regards, Randall

“Wonderful home away from Home”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2013

My family and I really enjoyed this home for our week on the cape. Comfortable living room/Kitchen for casual meals and even entertaining. Outside decks are perfectly balanced between sun and Shade. The outdoor shower is a real treat after biking back from the beach. Easy walking to the ice cream shop and country general store. We want to come back every year!
