Description from owner

Tall Birches offers the best of mountain vacation living. Just a short drive off the highway on a neighborhood road, this home is accessible year-round and is only minutes from shopping and dining, but is set in a wooded setting that lets you enjoy all the mountains have to offer.

From the flat open parking area, step up onto the covered front porch with rocking chairs waiting for you and your morning coffee. As you step inside, you will find yourself in the cozy living room which is well decorated in a mountain motif. The living room is a great gathering place for family with comfortable furniture and a remote-controlled fireplace is only a button push away. The rock fireplace soars to the vaulted ceiling. The cabin has an open floor plan and the living room area opens to a dining area and fully equipped gourmet kitchen. Off the common area, you will find a very spacious master suite with a queen bed and a large master bath.

Access the second floor from the living room area and at the top of the stairs you'll find an open loft that's furnished with two pull out futons and satellite HDTV. It's a great place for family time or snuggling in for movie night. Off the loft area, you will find a second bedroom with two twin beds and a full bath.

Back on the main floor, step outside onto the rear deck from the kitchen area and you'll find a new gas grill. The back deck is covered and a great place for having a family cookout. The back deck overlooks a spacious rear lawn that's also level and open. It includes a fire ring area where you can make s'mores or enjoy a quiet mountain evening under the stars beside a warm fire.

Tall Birches is located about 10 minutes from up and coming downtown West Jefferson where you'll find a variety of independently-owned small shops and galleries as well as a growing number of great dining options. The cabin is also located only about 30 minutes from the larger town of Boone, home of Appalachian State University.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Enjoyed our stay at your beautiful cabin. Spent more time at Merlefest, wish we had more time at cabin so will be back for sure. Very well equipped. If I had to suggest anything it would be more washcloths and towels, small spoons and utensils Glad you went on a whim and bought such a beautiful place and allowed us to stay here. We love it. Thanks so much! We live on the coast of N.C. and always enjoy coming to our beautiful N.C. mountains.

We had a wonderful stay in your house, enjoying nature's silence and sounds. Two evenings on the porch we were visited by deer. It's home-away-from-home, as you put it, perfectly describes the cabin. We wish we could stay longer. Living in a "flat" land mountains always add a little extra to our holiday. Thanks.

Our second stay in the NC Mountains, but one of the best vacation's ever. Amazing cabin, has everything you can think of (especially with two little ones.) Hiked Mt. Mitchell, Mt. Jefferson, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls . . .had BBQ in the evening, had drinks on the deck, made smores. Thank you so much! We loved it.
