Owner Supplied Testimonials
We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was beautiful and extremely clean. The owners were very prompt in answering any questions we had. It felt like a home away from home. We have two sons, ages 9 and 5. There were toys, Legos and games to play with. They had a blast! Also, it was very convenient to Ashville. I would highly recommend staying here. We'll definitely be back!!
We plan an annual Girls Trip every year and this year we settled on Asheville. Working with Jofre & Saskia was a breeze and everything was exactly as described. They were quick to respond to my multiple questions and were eager to help where they could. We were within a short drive to Downtown Asheville and a local hiking spot in town, just want we were hoping for. I highly recommend their sweet cabin and hope to return some day in the near future! Thank you for your hospitality.
We had a wonderful stay at the chalet! Great location to Asheville but nice and secluded as well. The drive up to the cabin was a bit windy and rocky but nothing that my toyota camry couldn't handle. Would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a nicely updated cabin for larger parties (there were 8 of us). Everyone loved it!!
Simply the Best, Beautiful house in a great location to dream about. The owners are very warm and caring. We have the best vacation in the house. It's a 10 Stars ************ We definitely recommend this place !!!!!
What a perfect place for a birthday weekend! We really enjoyed our stay at the chalet. Only about 25 minutes to downtown Asheville and a bit closer to other parts of the city. Getting up the driveway was interesting but totally easy with an SUV. This would be a great place for girls weekend, family trip with kids, or just a couples trip. Everything was so clean and neat. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for all your attention to detail and friendliness when booking!
Cabin and fixtures were in very good shape and looked quite new. Hosts were quick to respond to questions and left a very nice welcome package of farm fresh eggs, snacks, coffee, etc. Lots of room for our family of five. Easy to get to supermarket and Biltmore. Cabin is very private - you can't be squeamish about driving up a winding gravel/dirt road.
We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The kitchen is fully equipped and what we enjoyed how open it was. everything was clean. It was closed to Asheville, to grocery, Biltmore, and our favorite the Blue Ridge Highway. One thing the road up to the cabin is a dirt road which your get use to after awhile. The owner left us homegrown eggs and a basket of snacks my daughter loved the homemade soaps. Definitely would stay again loved the cabin and the time I spent with my family.
We enjoyed our stay immensely! We had four adults and three girls ages 7, 7, and 4. We were only there for a weekend, but I wish we could have stayed longer! The entire house was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. All of the appliances were state of the art, and the kitchen was well-equipped if you plan to do a lot of cooking. Because we were only there for a weekend, breakfast was the only meal we cooked, and we probably would not have done that but for the eggs that the owners, Jofre and Saskia, left for us from their hens. Delicious! The owners also provided a snack basket, coffee, and handmade goat's milk soap for each guest. They were extremely hospitable and accommodating, and if we had stayed longer, we would have loved to meet them and visit their nearby farm. We could not have asked for better weather during our stay, and the views from the porch were beautiful. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch with our coffee in the mornings and listening to/seeing the wild turkeys. As other reviewers have stated, the house feels very secluded but is not far from a grocery store, gas station, etc. We visited the Biltmore House in Asheville, which was an easy drive from the house, approximately 20 minutes. We also took our girls to the Polar Express train ride in Bryson City. It took approximately an hour and a half to reach Bryson City from the house. During the little down time we had, our girls enjoyed playing with the toys, games, and puzzles at the house, and we all enjoyed the fireplace! I cannot say enough nice things about this house! I highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit Asheville, and I hope to stay there again for more than just a weekend.
Our stay was fantastic!!!! The place was beautiful and everything was perfect. The owners were very accommodating and even left a small gift when we told them our newborn girl would be traveling there with us. I would highly recommend the Chalet and we will be staying there again in the future!!!!
When I offered to search for a place for a reunion for myself and my four sisters I was a little nervous because sisters don't always agree! But we all agreed that this house was the perfect place for us when we came from all over the country to explore Asheville and its environs. While it is secluded and feels like miles away from civilization, it's only a few minutes from all the amenities necessary for our stay. The house itself is so lovely, open and uncluttered, modern, with a great kitchen which was well stocked. And little touches like hand-made soaps, thick towels, and of course, the fresh eggs. And Jofre's hospitality extended to coming up the road to visit on a Saturday night when we couldn't figure out how to use the remote on the t.v. We would recommend it highly. Renters should be aware that the road to the house is a one-way dirt road up a mountain which was a little unnerving the first couple trips up and down, but you do get the hang of it. And it's a small price to pay for the seclusion of the property.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. Everything - bedding, baths, towels, kitchen, etc. - was extremely clean. The homegrown eggs the owners left in the fridge were the highlight of our breakfasts. The snack basket was a welcome sight when we opened the door that first day! We will definitely stay here again if it's available the next time we find ourselves in the Asheville area!
Such a beautiful cabin! So secluded yet so close to local shopping and Asheville visits. There were only 2 of us staying here but it would have been very comfortable with several more. This cabin was perfectly located for both hikes in Pisgah Forest and exploring in Asheville. Jofre was very responsive and helpful. I hope to stay here again!
Great cabin great stay. Lots of attention to details would highly recommend.
The Fletcher home was amazing. Jofre was so kind and always quick with communications. My family really enjoyed our stay, and if we travel back to the Asheville area would definately stay here again.
We had an excellent stay. The home and amenities were exactly as pictured and described. Exceptionally clean. Just remote enough for privacy but easy access to town. Even a rainy day was enjoyable to spend on the covered porch looking out into the woods. It actually exceeded our expectations.
The Winghaven Chalet had more amenities than any other home we have stayed; the owner even provided a crock pot when asked. The home was clean and was a beautiful place to spend time with my family. We were able to get to Asheville in 20 min and only met a car once on the road up. Unfortunately the view of the valley was obscured by the summer leaves; however the property and remoteness was very special.
Your place is just gorgeous ... a very beautiful home! Love all the natural lighting that comes thru the windows and the open feel when you walk in. Everything was neat and tidy, very well kept. The kitchen is stocked well with cooking utensils/appliances/ and dishes. All the special treats (coffee, fruit, biscuits, and fresh eggs) were wonderful and much appreciated. We were in town for our daughters wedding and everyone that had the pleasure of visiting commented on the beautiful home. We also had wifi connection problems, so if it is an absolute must (because of work issues or .... ), you will most likely find that you will need to travel to some place to get a better connection. My daughter was with us but had to find a place that she could operate out of because she couldn't take the whole week off of work. The home is really very close to the south side of Asheville and the Cane Creek area. We really loved the location. The owners were in contact with us but nothing overbearing, loved the timing of their email reminders. We had plenty of opportunities to contact them if needed, however things were very hectic for us because of preparing for the wedding, but they didn't demand anything from us, they were wonderful. Maybe next time we can add a more personal touch to communicating with them. Just know that we appreciated your informative emails and the the manuals that you had in the home. Everything was perfect!! BTW, the bride loved the location and the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. Thank you again for opening up your place for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Had a great time at Winghaven Chalet. The house is very open and sunny with a wonderful view of the trees. We spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the cool mornings and evenings. The 3 bedroom/ 3 bath house is perfect for family or a group of friends. Winghaven has all the modern conveniences, and a touch of " home" with fresh eggs in the frig, fruit and snacks for the guests in a bowl on the dining table...nice way to welcome guests! The chalet isn't far from Asheville, yet Winghaven has the "peacefulness" of the country. We also enjoyed our side trip to see the goats and chickens at their mini farm...fun time for all ages. Another fun girls getaway!
The chalet was beautiful and spacious. The location was great-between Asheville and Hendersonville. We loved the fresh eggs and snacks that the owners left us. The owners thought of everything-even folders with explanations about using things in the house and another for local area attractions, nearest grocery stores, etc. Also, the owners were really nice and always available for any issues. The only problem we found was a slow internet wifi connection that cut out frequently despite the owner's repeated attempts to have the internet service provider fix the problem. We would love to come back again!
We stayed at the Chalet for 5 nights in early August. There were 6 of us total - 4 adults and 2 children. The accommodations were perfect for our group. The house is lovely and well taken care of. It is stocked with pretty much everything you could need in a vacation home (including a kitchen aid mixer!). We cooked several nights including grilling one night. It is very peaceful up on the mountain yet still close to grocery stores and a quick drive into Asheville. The fresh eggs, snacks, and soaps are a nice touch. Arrangements and communications with the owners were easy and extremely timely. We would stay here again and recommend the Chalet to other people. Two things to be aware of though- 1) the one lane dirt road up the mountain is steep and very twisty. We had no problem traversing it in my Mazda 5 and my in-laws VW. However, if you arrive in the dark or in bad weather, just be aware the last 1/2 mile is up this road and it might be a challenge. 2) The loft in the house is beautiful and the bed is comfy. Don't put light sleepers up there though as you can hear everything that happens downstairs. If sleeping in is a big deal for someone in your party, then they need to sleep downstairs.
We had a wonderful stay at the chalet. It was perfect. Great attention given to detail. We felt very welcomed and comfortable throughout our entire stay. We would definitely stay here again! The fresh eggs were such a treat. Our children loved the fact that they had a variety of great toys that they could play with and that made our trip that much more enjoyable.
My husband and I spent nine days in late June at the Chalet, visiting Asheville for an extended vacation, family wedding events, and the chance to visit with far-flung extended family. This beautiful log home is nearly new, and very close to downtown Asheville (maybe 5 miles?) but is half-way up a small mountain and it feels very peaceful and secluded, surrounded by woods. The house has every convenience and amenity----and the interior is beautifully done in a "less is more" style of modern, almost European simplicity. Our son and his fiance stayed with us several days, and they were very comfortable in the upstairs loft bedroom. The children's bunk room was adorable---and while our grandchildren did not stay with us, they loved discovering the big bin of Legos, and the "puppet theater" toys during their visits with us at the Chalet! The welcoming touches of eggs, coffee, and snacks were so much appreciated---and added to the charm. The Chalet was the perfect place to enjoy our time in Asheville, as we filled the days with road cycling, hiking, nature walks (don't miss the NC Arbortetum or the Asheville Botanical Gardens), family gatherings, and, of course, the Biltmore Estate. A great vacation!
I spent two weeks in June at the Chalet. The house was beautiful, with all the necessary amenities. The setting was absolutely perfect for a time of retreat. I cannot say enough good things about Jofre and Saskia. They were so incredibly generous, willing to help in any way possible. As for location, it might help potential renters to know that the Chalet is actually about a 20 minute drive from many of the places I went to in Asheville. Some of that may have been because I drove my small car very slowly on the rocky road going to and from the house. My cell phone reception was limited, and I never really could get the wi-fi to work for me, but neither of these were essential for me. The house is gorgeous. The owners were attentive to every detail. I would definitely stay here again.
My family, 2 adult children with their spouses, and our 2 year old grandson, spent a long weekend in the Chalet at Winghaven over Memorial Day. It was perfect! We enjoyed the peace and quiet while at the cabin but close enough to the Asheville area to enjoy all that it offered. The Chalet had a well equipped kitchen, fresh eggs for our breakfast and homemade soap in all three bathrooms. The Cacanindin's were very nice to work with and I appreciated their prompt responses to my questions and emails. We look forward to returning to the Chalet in the future.
My husband and I stayed at this cabin for our honeymoon week. It was perfect! My husband was looking for extreme rest, quiet and nature. I was looking for somewhere that was close to "things to do"! Haha! So, this cabin was the perfect blend for us. The Chalet at Winghaven is just up an easily navigated gravel drive, through a peaceful wood. It took about 4-5 minutes to get to the cabin from the main road, which was very easily accessed. We visited antique stores in Asheville, hiked at the Carl Sandburg Home, went horseback riding through mountain trails, visited Biltmore, had a lovely romantic dinner in Asheville at 18 Lex (incredible 1920's feel local restaurant with seasonal fare), and relaxed in beauty of the cabin. We saw and heard some turkey outside the cabin a few days, but were not quick enough with the camera to capture them on film! The Chalet was extremely clean, well furnished and well equipped. Dishes, pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishwashing liquid, a basket of snacks... truly anything we needed was easily accessible. The memory foam mattresses were comfortable and the furnishings were comfy, as well. The fire place was a bonus. The hospitality details were lovely, as well... fresh homemade soaps, fresh eggs from the owners' hens in the fridge, clean linens on each bed... the TV, cable and sound bar were excellent and the complimentary wifi was useful. We were extremely happy with the Chalet at Winghaven. The only suggestion we have is for the wonderful owners to add a hot tub to the main deck! (haha! The garden tub with jets was incredible... but a hot tub outside would just be marvelous! The views are spectacular and peaceful... we just wouldn't complain about one more reason to stay on that porch a little longer every day!) Highly recommend!
The house is so new, everything is new and clean. Wonderful place to stay. Well supplied with necessities. Owner even left eggs and snacks. We will stay again!
The house was perfect for our time in Asheville. It is as sunny, peaceful and as clean as in the pictures. The view is beautiful, nothing more relaxing than sitting on the couch looking out the windows. When we arrived the owner had put eggs from their farm and fresh fruit and snacks out for us, which was so nice after our long drive. We each had our own bar of wonderful smelling homemade soap. These touches made it very welcoming. Where I live is very flat so I was a little hesitant about the drive up to the house in my little honda civic however, the road is only about a mile before you hit the first paved road-not bad at all. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone else.
Wow!! Saskia and Joffrey and their lovely farm was not to be missed!! We were welcomed with homemade soaps, fresh layed eggs, and a beautiful accomodation. The house is very pretty and well decorated. You felt at home immediately. Can't wait to be back. My kids want to visit your farm and your adorable goats, chickens, chicks, geese, ducks, soon! Thank you for going out of your way to make it this nice for the guests.
It was the perfect get away for our staff retreat. Beautiful peaceful sunrises and all the amenities needed to focus on our work. The home seems a little slice of Europe in the Smoky mountains. We were able to enjoy eclectic Asheville and a couple local vineyards and escape back to the warmth of the Chalet's wood burning stove and warm sunny deck. The house flowed nicely from Kitchen to dining area to living area. Internet and satellite TV were conveniences that we did not expect but were great. We met the family who built/owned the home and they were very nice and helpful throughout the process of securing the house to closing the house as we departed. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Asheville area!
We had a wonderful time staying at the Chalet at Winghaven. The owners were very hospital and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They left us eggs from a local farm in the fridge, snacks, fruit, stocked Kuerig coffee machine, home made soap and towels for everyone. The memory foam mattresses and pillows on every single bed (including bunk beds) had everyone sleeping like a baby. The wood burning swedish fireplace made the living room very cozy and the whole house very warm. There's was enough firewood outside for a couple of winters. The cabin is brand new, so it was still a work in progress, but well on its way to perfection. The furniture is very comfortable and stylish. Everything was very well decorated. Plenty of windows to provide natural light all around the house that just resonates from the bright wood panels. Great views from the balcony. The cabin is pretty easy to get to and close to everything. The owners were very helpful with directions and any questions. We got to meet them on our way out and were very excited to talk to them. I will recommend this cabin to everyone visiting Asheville.
The whole family had a great time! We enjoyed the private setting, the turkeys calling in the background and our children and the dog loved to roam the woods. The wraparound deck is a great place to soak up some sun, even in December. The home was super clean and spacious, the cathedral ceilings are beautiful and the kitchen fully equipped to cook up some good dinners. Oh, and the towels are amazing, I went out and bought the same ones for my own home!
