Description from manager
1 entrance hall
1 living room with dining area
1 studio (with pull-out sofa for one)
1 kitchen with access to the terrace
1 double bedroom
The apartment is located on the first floor (US: second floor) of an elevator building. Its impressive entrance is decorated with brightly-colored 18th-century frescoes on its walls and high ceilings.
An archway leads to a modern living room, with white couches, and a dining area with a table for four. A small hallway leads to a studio, completely adorned with frescoes and outfitted with satellite TV, high-speed Internet access, telephone/fax, and stereo. A sofa converts to a single bed to sleep an additional guest. Next to the studio is a bathroom with shower. The kitchen is bright and spacious, and a door opening onto a lovely terrace just perfect for al fresco dining in the summer.
The owner's eye for the aesthetic is perhaps most obvious in the beautiful wood-paneled double bedroom. A queen-sized bed (can not be separated) is a crossover between a traditional wooden bed and a modern platform bed. There is an en suite bath with sink and tub, and a separate WC.
The apartment has a modern air-conditioning system. Because of the historic frescoes, the owners are not permitted to install central air conditioning; but "splits" located in the living room and kitchen cool the entire apartment, thanks to the process of "invert technology."
This lovely apartment is located on the piano nobile (noble floor) of an ancient 16th-century palazzo just behind beautiful Piazza Santa Croce. The apartment has been completely and beautifully restored; its central location puts many of Florence's attractions right at your doorstep, as well as coffee bars, restaurants, and shops. There is a grocery store just 200 meters from the apartment. Santa Croce square is just a one-minute walk, and the Uffizi Gallery is just ten minutes away. Other favorites are Michelangelo's David in the Accademia, the Duomo, Campanile and Bapistry, the museum of the works of the Duomo, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Bargello, San Marco with Fra Angelica's frescos and San Miniato, not to mention the Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. Think of Florence for leather, lace, linens, Florentine paper and paper products, wine, food and monthly rentals off season. Do you wish to whet your appetite for Florence? The owner, a well-known photographer and writer, has personally furnished and decorated this unique apartment with an interesting blend of tradition, taste, and high-tech design, along with a few hints from the recent past of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. These diverse styles come together to give the apartment a relaxing, comfortable ambience. The architecture of the surrounding buildings, with their tiny private courtyards, gives the Il Fiorino apartment a cozy, secluded feeling, in spite of being located in the heart of Florence.
