About the area

From the cabin a 15 minute walk south along the white sand of Heceta Beach will find you at the jetty of the Siuslaw River - here you will find crabs and other sea life scuttling about the rocks at low tide. If you walk north from the cabin, you will eventually reach a spot where the beach stops, and the mountains rise up out of the ocean. The town of Florence nearby is filled with quaint shops, restaurants and a boardwalk overlooking a marina. Golfers will enjoy the nearby 18-Hole Sandpines Golf Links (this award-winning course has received accolades from such high-profile magazines such as Golf Digest & Golfweek). The Oregon Dunes Recreation Area (with some of the largest dunes in the world) is only a short drive south of the cabin. With miles of beaches, prolific estuaries, mature conifer forests, & cool, fish-filled Lakes, the coast here provides terrific opportunities for hiking, fishing, & birding.

“Curved Sea Cabin in Florence OR”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2016

We love our stay at the Curved Sea Cabin in Florence OR. The cabin is walking distance to Heceta Beach in a quiet neighborhood. It is rustic and cozy. While we did not use the fireplace, the electric heating sources kept us warm. We would definitely stay there again.

“Cozy and wondeful”

Reviewed 26 Nov 2015

Our stay here was wonderful! The cabin was exactly as described, very comfortable and immaculately kept. On the description it says all you need to bring is fire wood and that's the truth, the Kleins have provided everything you need for a comfortable relaxing stay and the area around the cabin is absolutely breathtaking. We took morning walks 2 blocks down to the beach, rode to the many different sights to see during the days, including the lighthouses, the tide pools, Thor's well and the devil's churn, the sea lion caves (with a few sea lions in it :) ) and even saw a Gray whale! We all had a great time and will be back again in the summer! I highly recommend the Curved Sea Cabin for a great family vacation :)

Owner's reply: We are very happy you had such a great time.

“Great place to Escape”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2015

We loved our stay at the cabin. We fit comfortably with our 4 children. We loved being in walking distance to the dunes and beach. The kitchen was a bit of a challenge to work with but I'm sure most people don't do as much cooking and meal prep as we did. We had fun with the great stock of games and the kids loved the Lego-like bricks. Thanks so much for great hospitality. We took wonderful memories with us.

“neat cabin”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2015

We stayed for 2 weeks at the cabin and found everything we needed. We came to work on my Dad's house a short distance away. The cabin was perfect with how it was stocked, the location, the cost and the the size. I loved that I could hear the ocean when I opened the window at night. We slept very well. We did have a little time for rest and relaxation. The cabin was in a great spot for that too. It is close to the main street but far enough off the road that it is quiet and well hidden. The beach is very close and it is close to many of the places we have loved to see over the years. When I come back, I will be checking for this cabin before I do anything else :)

“B-Day Getaway at the Beach”

The little summer house was very charming and close to the beach, we greatly enjoyed our stay. We love the town of Florence, the Dunes, shop's and restaurants.

Owner's reply: Cozy during a storm; sounds nice - glad you enjoyed the cabin!

“Nice beach cabin”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2013

I requested to rent this place in the middle of the week with only a day notice. They were extremely accommodating and prompt. This place is cozy with a big fireplace and has all the utensils, bedding, appliances, ect needed to just walk in with some groceries. Its only a couple of blocks from the beach, covered porches for when it rains, surrounded by trees and bushes so it feels like your not around other cabins, and a nice yard to make for a happy dog. I would rent here again for sure!

Owner's reply: Thank you Ms. Ellis - we are glad you had a good time!

“Good location, comfy cabin”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

The cabin is in a quiet residential area away from the highway, but a short drive from town. Access to a sandy beach is a few blocks' walk, and has parking too. Large bathroom / utility room with washer and dryer and a good shower, plenty of hot water. Bedrooms are upstairs and bathroom down, so bring a night light for the steep stairway. Kitchen is fully equipped but we didn't find many spices. TV is small, which was fine with us; there's lots to see and do. Oregon Dunes overlook and trail are a short drive south. Bandon and the seastacks are 1 hour 45 minutes south. Three lovely state parks near Coos Bay same distance. A good base for exploring the coast.

“Trumps any hotel stay”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2013

Better than any hotel, the dogs loved the yard. Great water pressure made shower awesome. Well stocked kitchen so you can leave you plates, glasses and silverware at home! Watch out--stairs to bedrooms very steep. Had a great relaxing time as neighborhood is quiet. Beach is a short walk away. Cable TV but no Wi-Fi, so make other plans if you need a connection... good cellular signal. We'll be back!

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your stay!

“cozy cabin by the sea”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2013

we had a short 2 day stay at this little cabin by the sea, although we never got the chance to walk down to the beach it was nice to listen to the ocean waves when we were sitting on the back porch. The cabin has a full kitchen but we chose to use the microwave less cleanup that way, a large washer and dryer and a fireplace but we never used it. we had a real good time at this little cabin by the sea. Would definitely stay here again

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Happy Valentines Day!
Our long awaited - long overdue trip to the coast finally came after a lot of carefull planning. All the build up and excitement wondering what the place we're staying at will be like is alomst as much fun beforehand. Expectations can be scary though, if you've ever been let down before.
Our expectations were met tenfold! Beautiful home, beautiful setting - beautiful sunshine. What a score!
We enjoyed the place so much - felt like home - only better. Everything we could possibly need was provided for us - including the good energy attached to the place.

A treasure of a get-away, this one! Take time, create treasured moments, laugh a log and love with passion. Nothing else will matter when we pass.

The perfect honeymoon getaway! We'll be back as our honeymoon transpires. (Honeymoons should go on forever, shouldn't they?) The whistling ghost at the front door is a nice touch!

A bird flew out of the chimney into the house while we were having fire, it added to the excitement of the weekend. We saved it and set it free. We played stickball on Driftwood Beach. It was great time.

We certainly enjoyed staying here in this cozy, homey house. We loved it!!! Since I was raised her in Florence if was like coming home. We enjoyed the peace and quiet without outside interruptions - phones, people, pagers, etc, etc. This place gives one time to reflect on life itself and the need to get back to what life should be.
Thanks for opening this place for others to discover themselves. We will be back.

Forty years ago I waited on a lake Michigan beach for the arrival of my first child Annie. Today I basked in the sun and waited for her return from a walk on the beach with her sweetie Steve. The sight of her still triggers within me feelings of tenderness!
What a great space to be in - to remember.

This is my second visit. I love it here. My sister and her 2 daughters from Lancaster PA are here too. They played so hard on Friday then even liked what we had for dinner. I hope to come back again and again. It's a nice place to come to.

A wonderful place to come and be situated for a period of time. The jigsaw puzzle of the barn kind of swept us along timewise, and of course playing at the beach. The girls made a play area way back in the dunes where I never took the time to venture before. It's very quiet in the low spots and the view on top of the bluff is a good one. While sitting on a pretend wooden chair above where the girls were creating their house I was playing with the sand and noticed how pretty it is and so consistently colored.

Beautiful day! Thank-you! Thank-you! We laughed and cried. Nothing changed after all these years. Sitting in front of the fire sharing our fears and our desires. Tina's as blind as a bat, Max fat as a healthy rat, and me, gravity has taken his toll. My belly's round as a big jelly bowl. Needless to say 'tis a very good day. I will return to this humble palace. Soooo very comfortable. I don't want to leave.

Great week - Rode our blasters in the sand dunes most of Monday - went for a ride in a seaplane Tuesday - Got stuck on the beach with our dogs in a huge storm (45 mph winds, rain) on Wednesday, discovered the Ralph Lauren outlet store in Lincoln city on Thursday. We can't wait to come back.

We loved your house. It was very romantic knowing that such a place can bring you closer to the one you love shows nothing more than the magic of this place. May the magic of this place bring happiness to all who stay.

It was a great vacation. We played on the beach by day and played board games at night. Our family got closer to each other. Thank You!

Fresh air indeed! 50 mph winds are exhilarating - Orion shines brightly and the the winds HOWLED...During heavy gusts you can pitch your body forward and the wind will actually hold you up! It's a kick! Alan dubbed it "Blustery" I'm still thinking of a descriptive word - blustery is too tame! Words like gale force and torrential come to mind! I think I'm using writing in this book as an excuse to not go out there - I was getting psyched - but the downpour increased and is coming down in "sheets". Warm fireplace or driving rain...decisions, decisions. I'll assume slumbering Alan on the couch is expressing his vote! Oh well - I'm venturing out - probably not for long! Mother nature extended a welcome and it stopped raining - bit of BLUE SKY - dark black cloud to the north. Got in an hour of walking and no rain!
Thank you Randall, she's happy!

I've been made to promise to keep this entry clean and devoid of any specific details that might incriminate us embarrass us at future dates. As such, I will then profess that I am a master-fire-builder. It was a well made, perfectly warm, hypnotic bunch of flames. It was capped off with a delightful '95 red. Tammy then proceeded to completely kick my butt in backgammon.
This morning we slept in - It felt great! Tammy went for coffee while I began cooking breakfast. She returned just in time to help me finish up the scrambled eggs. They were scrumptious! We've packed the car and are headed to the beach for the afternoon. It is a wonderful cabin - thank you.

How Lovely - this cabin, the beach the silver clouds curtaining the moon. The presence of a fire has added new levels to an already high weekend among familial friends. Thanks to Randall for the taste and trust and the working washer/dryer. The guest book reminds me of trail registers along the Appalachian Trail - allows me to feel that I'm stepping into a community based around the coast and the fireplace. Barbaric Yawp and all that.
Yours Truly,

Much thanks! Classy Sanctuary at a reasonable rate.

Two architecture students from U of O celebrate the end of winter term and a budding romance. (I'm so glad this place isn't a dump!)
They quickly acquaint themselves with the ship's hold and then with each other.

Becky takes ill and Sam takes care. Fever breaks and the fisherman's wark (eats for all, all night long) supplies a delicious (ha) meal.

Had a great time.
Thanks - Sam

Randall - Thank you for letting me have the opportunity to see Sam in a whole new light. A short but sweet stay was just what the doctor ordered. A lovely little cabin that brought me back to the beach smells and seashells. Hope to be back next term.
