About Cocoa Beach

Whether it’s the sandy beaches, phenomenal deep-sea fishing, or the wide selection of Cocoa Beach vacation rentals, you’ll love this quintessential Florida beach town. Only an hour’s drive east of Orlando and its many theme park attractions, this beach spot is perfect for those looking to be by the water.

Climate

You can’t go wrong any time of year with a visit to Cocoa Beach. Summers here are hot and humid, which means perfect beach days and warm ocean waters year-round. The area does see frequent rain showers and thunderstorms, but they typically pass quickly so you won’t lose an entire day of vacation. The hottest month here is July when temperatures reach the 90s and the coolest month is January when temperatures dip into the 70s.

Transit

Fly into Orlando International Airport where you can rent a car for the drive to Florida’s Coast. The best way to get around Cocoa Beach is by car, but if you don’t have access to one public transportation is available. The Space Coast Area Transit is a bus system that serves Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral and other nearby towns making it easy to get around the area.

Things to Do

What’s your idea of the ultimate day at the beach? Surfing a great wave? Playing Frisbee? Enjoying a picnic? The spacious shores of Cocoa Beach have room for it all. Go to Cocoa Beach and Lori Wilson Park, two of the area’s best oceanfront parks, for great swimming and sunbathing. Both have lifeguards on duty during the day from Easter weekend until Labor Day. If you’re looking for action, kayak alongside manatees with Fin Expeditions or take a surfing lesson with the Ron Jon Surf School.

Away from the beach, there are countless attractions to discover. Cocoa Beach is situated on Florida’s Space Coast, not far from the Kennedy Space Center where vacationers can learn all about space. It is a great place to spend an afternoon when you’re ready for a break from the sun. Families will enjoy education activities, interactive exhibits, and if your timing is right, a rocket liftoff. Children will also love the nearby Brevard Zoo, which is home to over 400 animals including alligators, river otters, kangaroos and jaguars. The Cocoa Beach Surf Museum is another great place to get a taste of the local atmosphere and learn about the best of surf history.
