About Davenport

For a Central Florida alternative to Orlando, Davenport offers a friendly setting, close proximity to the theme parks, and easy access to the state’s natural wonders. Book your choice of Davenport vacation rentals, and bring the whole family along for a fun Florida getaway.

Like most of Central Florida, Davenport enjoys hot, humid weather for most of the year. Summer temperatures climb to the low 90s, while winter temperatures dip down into the 50s. Though summer months tend to be the most humid, there really isn’t a bad time to visit the happening Davenport area.

Conveniently located right in the center of Florida, Davenport is about 45 minutes southwest of the Orlando International Airport and just over an hour east of the Tampa International Airport. Most visitors either drive from elsewhere in Florida or fly into one of the nearby airports and then rent a car to travel between their Davenport vacation rentals and the area attractions.

Things to Do

If you’re visiting Central Florida for the theme parks, you’re in luck. Disney World is just 20 minutes away from Davenport, and Universal Studios is a 40-minute drive away. Though most special attractions require advance reservations, you can still have a great time exploring Disney World, the Magic Kingdom, and Epcot without much prior planning. Since both Disney World and Universal Studios are so close to Davenport, you can easily spend a day or two at the park while still leaving time for other local fun.

Once you’ve fulfilled your family’s Disney dreams, enjoy any of the nearby nature parks and preserves. Davenport couldn’t be better located for outdoor recreation activities. Southeast of the city, Lake Tohopekaliga is one of the area’s best spots for freshwater fishing or taking an airboat cruise to get a better fee for the landscape. To the north of Davenport, Lake Apopka has over 20,000 acres where visitors can hike, go bird watching, spot wildlife, and even go horseback riding. If your family wants to spend some time at the ocean, the closest, family-friendly beach is Cocoa beach. Although it is over an hour’s drive, if you have the time it is worth spending a day there.

Whether you need a break from kid-friendly fun or you’re planning an adults-only getaway, the Davenport area has no shortage of more adventurous activities. Schedule a tee time at top-rated Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club, which features ...
