About Haines City

Haines City, Florida is called the "Heart of Florida" because of its central location, but after renting a Haines City apartment rental for your next vacation, you'll refer to it by that name for a lot of other reasons. Haines City places you close to all the magic of Orlando with fewer crowds and less expensive lodging. It's also a short drive to Tampa.

Things to Do

Haines City places you in the heart of the Sunshine state with convenient access to the theme parks of Orlando; Winter Haven's LEGOLAND and water park; Dinosaur World; and some of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the state. Tampa (and its cruise ship port), St. Pete, and Clearwater Beach are less than a two-hour drive as is the Kennedy Space Center and the beaches of the Space Coast (another popular cruise ship departure).

Fantasy of Flight, in nearby Polk City, is a vintage aircraft museum that features a number of antique bi-planes. Visitors can take a bi-plane flight or see the orange groves in a hot air balloon. The daring can even fly a World War II trainer Boeing Stearman PT-17. No flying experience required.

Speaking of daring, every April hundreds of people descend on beautiful Lake Eva Park as it hosts the IRONMAN 70.3 Florida. This gorgeous park also features concerts, bicycle and running trails, tennis and basketball courts, and an aquatic center. The eight-acre lake is popular for boating and fishing, and there is also an aquatics center with a pool and water slide for children.

Plan an afternoon visiting Landmark Bible College, the former Polk Hotel, which was built in the late 1920s. The nine-story Italian Renaissance building is on the National Register of Historic Places. After, stop by the Main Street Farmers Market, located at the Railyard Square, for fruits and veggies. The market is in the vintage downtown district and features a brick plaza where visitors to Haines City have signed their name.

Although it's been talked about for years, there's still no high-speed rail across central Florida, so for now, visitors will need a car. That's not a bad thing because Haines City vacation rentals are the perfect home base for exploring central Florida and the east and west coasts of the Sunshine State. You have the option of flying into Orlando (40 miles) or Tampa (68 miles).
