About Bonita Springs

With its sunny location on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Bonita Springs features fantastic beaches, scenic parks, and great beachfront dining. Book one of the many spacious Bonita Springs vacation rentals, and get ready to dig into this vacation hotspot.

Climate

Bonita Springs enjoys a tropical climate, which means the area is almost always warm and humid. This Gulf Coast city averages nearly 300 sunny days each year and around 100 rainy days each year. During the summer months, high temperatures average over 90 degrees, while during the winter months, temperatures average about 65 degrees. Despite the area’s hot summers, Bonita Springs is a popular vacation destination in summer as well as year-round.

Transit

No matter where you’re traveling from, the Bonita Springs area is easy to access thanks to the nearby Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. Though Bonita Springs has its own bus and trolley services, known as LeeTran, most visitors get around by car. When vacationing at one of the many Bonita Springs vacation homes, driving allows visitors the convenience of exploring both close to home and further afield.

Things to Do

When you just want to dip your toes in the Gulf of Mexico, nearby Bonita Beach Park is the perfect spot. Swim and sunbathe, join a sand volleyball game, or fish from the shore. Be sure you have the right fishing license before casting your reel into the Gulf, though.

If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten bath, head to Barefoot Beach Preserve County Park, which includes over 300 acres of undeveloped land on a barrier island. Here you can enjoy strolls on the soft sand dunes, educational walks along the preserve, and sea turtle spotting.

Once accessible only by boat, Lovers Key State Park includes four barrier islands that feature everything from wildlife viewing to swimming to picnicking. Catch some rays on the beach, take a guided kayak tour, or search for seashells along the shore at this picturesque Florida state park. If you’re not up for walking the entire two-mile stretch of beach, the park also offers access by tram.

Spot even more wildlife at the nearby Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, an impressive Bald Cypress forest that’s over 500 years old. If you’re lucky, you’ll see alligators, raptors, turtles, and otters as you hike along the two-mile boardwalk.
